The Modern French Political History has been significantly transformed over the last twenty years. Apart from the pluralism of disciplinary approaches -law, political science, history- Pierre Rosanvallon's seminal work represents a landmark for the specialists of the political period inaugurated by the French Revolution. After presenting this historiography, we take a precise example in order to show the interest of these new approaches. Even though the history of the Conseil économique et social has been relatively neglected by scholars, it remains the third French constitutional assembly of the twentieth century. It held a specific position within the institutional framework in that it was not elected by universal suffrage but was considered by its members to be one of the rare "institutional representations of civil society". The successive attempts to create the Conseil économique et social during three different republics -in 1925, 1946 and 1958- offer an opportunity to connect the theoretical debates on the competing forms of democracy and the specific institutional experiences. By focusing on the composition, responsibilities and functioning of the different councils as well as on the debates which consistently accompanied their establishment, a series of questions emerge about elections, notions of representation, and sovereignty in modern political regimes. Inspired by Pierre Rosanvallon's political historical perspective, this study offers a new approach on the institutions, "corporate" tendencies, and interest groups of the French republican model.

How important has the sea been in the development of human history? Very important indeed is the conclusion of this ground-breaking four volume work. The books bring together the world's leading maritime historians, who address the question of what difference the sea has made in relation to around 250 situations ranging from the earliest times to the present. They consider, across the entire world, subjects related to human migration, trade, economic development, warfare, the building of political units including states and empires, the dissemination of ideas, culture and religion, and much more, showing how the sea was crucial to all these aspects of human development. The Sea in History - The Modern World covers the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, when the global reach of major powers frequently brought them into conflict with each other, including conflict at sea. The many majors wars at sea of the period are discussed, as are the planning and strategic thinkingof the major powers in cases both where war followed and where it did not, and in addition the role and thinking of less important powers such as Portugal and Denmark are analysed. The book considershow in this first great age of 'globalisation' seaborne trade helped many countries to prosperity by participation in the global economy, a process halted by the First World War and not resumed untilthe 1950s. The book also examines maritime resources including fishing and whaling; ships, shipbuilding, ports and navigation; and the logistics of supporting long distance maritime activity. One very interesting chapter on late imperial China shows how China's then failure to take maritime issues seriously was a major factor in the empire's collapse. 58 of the contributions are in English; 6 are in French. Sachant que cette région est par ailleurs celle qui a vu s'épanouir au XVIe siècle la « Chevalerie d'Empire », il est tentant d'examiner dans quelle mesure cette pratique du tournoi a pu constituer une sorte d'« école » pour la formation collective des aristocrates. this contribution, presented in the context of the Colloquium Vins, Vignes and Civilisation held in Bordeaux in 2005, is the result of anthropological work, the context of which is a public health study. Based on the findings of several studies, there seems to be a clear correlation between moderate alcohol consumption and particularly wine, with better brain ageing. In order to try to understand whether these are only benefits from wine, or rather associated factors, we have carried out qualitative ethnographic research among around sixty people over the age of 70 in the border. Its purpose is to link the consumption and representation of wine with the organisation of the daily lives of these people. ; This paper was presented during the International Conference Wine, Vineyards and Civilisations held in Bordeaux in 2005. It is the result of an ethnographic study performed as a complement within the context of a wide-scale public health survey, the object of which was to examine a possible correlation between a moderate consumption of wine and better cerebral ageing. These documents comprise four volumes : the first is a synthesis of all of my research, the second represents original unpublished work on the profession of carpenters in Valencia (Spain): brotherhoods and corporate body (from the 15th to the beginning of the 19th century), the third includes the documents in Valencia Catalan and Spanish that constituted the source of my investigation and which can be found in the Archives of the Ancient Kingdom of Valencia. The forth volume contains my papers and presentations.The unpublished work deals with the characteristics of the trade, its relationships with the local and kingdom authorities at the economic and political level as well as its religious and social role. The research also attempts to analyze the development of the carpenter profession over a long period of time, and explain the causes of its disappearance. The rest of the work deals with other powers and other geographical areas, namely the Spanish Inquisition, and the projection of the Spanish Monarchy in the Mediterranean and the Flanders Provinces. ; Ce dossier est constitué de quatre ouvrages : le premier est une synthèse de tous mes travaux de recherche, le second un travail inédit qui porte sur Le métier des charpentiers de Valence (Espagne) : entre confréries et corporation (XVe-début XIXe siècle), le troisième est constitué de documents en valencien et en espagnol sur lesquels se fonde mon étude et qui se trouvent aux Archives de l'Ancien Royaume de Valence, le quatrième regroupe les articles et communications que j'ai présentés.L'inédit étudie les caractéristiques du métier, ses rapports avec les pouvoirs de la ville et du royaume au plan économique et politique, son rôle religieux et social. The study of organisations gives rise to a scientific activity of this kind that some do not have to speak of jungle. Apparently unreliable and inhospital in the world, the organisations are also culpable by tribes who say themselves at war against each other, which therefore do not speak and, moreover, say that they are unable to communicate as much as their cultures are scattered. The ethnographs who have addressed the issue speak about incommunicabilite and paradigm warfare. There is a need to consult the practitioner, who is best placed at my disposal in the research field, and to discourage him from going further. The first aim of this article is to reassure it on two points. While it is true that the economic expansion is widespread, it has more advantages than inconnients, and secondly, it must not be overly impressed by the violence of demands and invectives, since to follow these enemies on their hunting grounds, it is clear that their practices differ less than they say. Educated on the state of the territory which he or she is preparing to cover, the reader is not always able to make the most of his or her presentation. The second part three of which should allow him to take full advantage of the adventure. The Commission invites him not to present a description or explanation, but to regard it as the two sides of the coin. The second requires him not to be left behind in a systematic manner and to take greater care of the circumstances likely to be aware of it. The truth calls on him to rely on the ideas which he is proposed to use as an explorer to do so in his own right. Le développement de la théorie de la firme s'est souvent affranchi d'une analyse de la nature légale et politique des entreprises si bien que la réflexion sur la nature des ordres normatifs est elle-même demeurée marginale. Par ordre normatif, nous entendons un standard de régulation des relations industrielles qui s'applique pour une période donnée à des entités réelles, ici aux firmes. Cet article contribue à la littérature sur le pluralisme industriel en proposant une analyse des évolutions institutionnelles et historiques des firmes et en mettant en exergue une forme d'intrication des ordres publics et privés dans les entreprises.
