The article begins by recognizing the importance of claiming a popular history that enhances the role of the actors traditionally excluded, as opposed to conventional history of the elites. In this way, its main purpose is to reveal the political interests that under populist speeches, exaggerate oral testimonies to pass them as equivalent to history, to the detriment of the philosophies and theories that even with its shortcomings, have built the scientific nature of historiography.
On March 2022, a few days after the first strikes of the Russian army on Ukrainian territory began, Time Magazine published a special issue on the topic with the title "The Return of History", subtitled "How Putin Shattered Europe's Dreams". As a backdrop, the cover featured a full-page, almost black and white photograph of a military tank with six soldiers looking straight into the camera. Although the phrase was most likely meant metaphorically and is obviously hyperbolic, the cover did express what seemed to be a widespread sentiment: something important had changed, and (Western) Europe was confronted with a reality it had deemed long gone, or at least, safely restrained. For those of us attentive to discourses around history, however, this cover – as many comments and declarations by analysts, journalists and politicians which followed a similar pattern – tapped into fundamental questions about how events are framed in specific temporal and spatial narratives.
; This contribution tries to stablish a theory of the institutions starting from the author 's personal experience in the study of the medieval institutions. His intention is to remark the duration and the axiological nature of the institutions, created to protect certain interests and values. Although there is an infinite variety of subjects, and the realm of the politic institutions being so ample, it is possible to find some structural common aspects. This contribution tries also to offer some elements of history of the institutions' historiography, not just from the perspective of someone who studies the Italian Middle Age, but also of a man who lives in our times.
The present article traces an absence of historical sense and its implications in modernity through the diagnosis proposed by Marx, Nietzsche, Heidegger, and other philosophers. I start with Marx's critique on the lack of historical sense of the bourgeois political economy and Nietzsche's concept of "Egypticism" as the idiosyncrasy in philosophy of giving more value to permanence that to change. Then, I use the image of the clock to explore the relation between time and the loss of historical sense in modernity under the light of 20th-century thinkers. Afterwards, I propose a possible origin if the lack of historical sense in modernity through the paradoxical relation between being and time in Aristotle. Finally I offer another interpretation of time, from the perspective of the instant, in Dogen to show how this "history of the instant" can transform the "history of the present" we have traced throughout the paper. In my conclusions, I point out some philosophical and political alternatives of the history of the instant.
Marx's conception of history has always been the object of multiple discussions. This is intimately linked to the reception of historical materialism, elevated to the category of dogma. In this work we try, on the contrary, to reconstruct in a systematic way Marx's reflections on history. On the one hand, he continues to write the philosophy of history of the Enlightenment up to Hegel in accordance to the precepts of universal history, and even radicalizing the historical perspective, in so far as he considers nature and man as historical events. On the other hand, Marx criticizes the faith in progress of the Enlightenment questioning the defended parallelism between technical and economic progress, and political and moral progress. In the same way, Marx also criticizes Hegel's idealist philosophy and liberates philosoph of history from metaphysical presuppostions.
; This theoretical essay aims to reflect, in a Brazilian perspective, on the use of the historical method in the social sciences in general, and in the areas of organizational studies and public administration. To do this, based on a bibliographical review, we have chosen to deepen the reflection from the historical-comparative method and life history, within the qualitative paradigm, in order to offer a more specialized perspective on the implications of such methods for the aforementioned subdisciplines. We conclude that the historical method in general, as well as the historical-comparative method and life history method, in particular, promote new forms of understanding reality, by connecting the singular, the global, the objective with the subjective, the past with the contemporary, and generating innovative perspectives for social, organizational and political analyses.
With a population of more than 45 million, Latinos have become a significant demographic group within the United States. Increasingly, Latinos are part of and represent diverse political, social, and economic institutions throughout the United States. How did this phenomenon begin? Which are the historical conditions that explain this increase in the Latino population? What do we mean when we refer to Latinos as a particular demographic group within the United States? These are some of the questions that Ilan Stavans and Lalo Alcaraz (2000) approach in their graphic book Latino USA: A Cartoon History. Through the analysis of this graphic book, I analyze the topic of history and, specifically, the production of a historical graphic narrative about Latinos in the United States. I argue that Latino USA shows that history is a polyvocal narrative in which different voices are involved. Besides hegemonic representations of reality, it is possible to find different perspectives and points of view from which facts are interpreted. Besides analyzing the content of the text, I explore who, how, and why produces that text. In other words, I analyze the author's own position in her/his text in relation to the material that she/he writes about.
Traditional historiography often marginates some social classes just as it marginates certain professional sectors, even if they have represented a paramount landmark in the evolution of mankind. Seldom has research ventured into the history of slavery although it has had great importance upon the economy, politics and culture of America, Africa and Europe. This article aims to find a meeting point between Nursing History and Slavery History, both marginalized from social sciences. We attempt to reconstruct here the system for the provision of sanitary care to the enslaved Lima population in the first half of the 18th century, and above all, examine who was responsible for such care. Our hypothesis is that, only nurses either moved by feelings of Christian charity or by the slaves owners' own interests, were the health care providers at the time, as doctors were prevented from helping such a population. In this way, a direct parallelism between a marginalized social class: the slaves, and a profession: nursing, is established.

; Lobbying is a phenomenon associated with negative terms, but it serves the essential need of influence in the public power from the private sphere: something that several institutions, enterprises and people have satisfied since birth of civilization

This article establishes a theoretical position that distinguishes between what is called conditional tense documentary and historical fake documentaries. In order to do this, the gap between a statement and the enunciation, and the concept of discursive community, will be the fundamental tools. Then, analyses of four historical fake documentaries are made. These movies affirm (not conjecture) alternative pasts and presents through the expressive tools of the documentary. This allows us to distinguish between the multiplicity of truths and the affirmation of a truth, the latter being the political project of fake documentary, and the emancipatory potential it has within documentary cinema.
The following text is proposed to reflect on the curricular policies of post-dictatorship neoliberal governments, in relation to History. The hypothesis is these curricular policies are associated with the regime of present historicity typical of neoliberal societies after the fall of Berlin Wall, and not exclusively with forgetting policies of recent history.
The text is divided in two phases. In the first phase, consisting of three parts, the main concepts of Kant's Doctrine of Right are considered in a comprehensive approach related to: the issue of the relations between natural right and positive right, problem closely connected to that of the relations between natural state and civil state, private right and public right; to the doctrine of property and its connection with political right. on treating the right in its several types, we intend to appoint the practical reasoning as a background of the Doctrine. In the second phase, concerning its last section, the consideration on the presence of the practical reasoning into the right is placed before some specificities of Kant's phylosophy of history, with the intent of establishing the possible relation between Rechtslehre and that philosophy.
