Martin Eden (2019) is Pietro Marcello's latest film, a free adaptation of Jack London's 1909 novel of the same name. The hybridization of languages, especially between fiction and non-fiction, and the use of archival footage – director's stylistic code – reaffirm the originality and visionary power of Marcello's cinema. Transporting the protagonist of London from the 1909 Oakland into a multi-temporal Naples, and assigning to an extraordinary Luca Marinelli the task of taking a dense, political and poetic journey throughout the "short century", this film reflects on the ways in which images reconfigure memory, both the public memory, the one of an entire country, and the private and intimate memory of migrant subjects who wander among utopias and identity dispersions. ; Martin Eden (2019) è l'ultimo film di Pietro Marcello, libero adattamento dell'omonimo romanzo del 1909 di Jack London. L'ibridazione dei linguaggi, in particolare tra fiction e non fiction, e l'uso del materiale d'archivio – cifra stilistica del regista – ribadiscono l'originalità e la potenza visionaria del cinema di Marcello. Trasportando il protagonista di London dall'Oakland del 1909 in una Napoli multitemporale, e assegnando ad uno straordinario Luca Marinelli il compito di compiere un viaggio denso, politico e poetico lungo tutto il "secolo breve", questa pellicola riflette sui modi in cui le immagini riconfigurano la memoria, sia la memoria pubblica, ovvero quella di un'intera nazione, che quella privata ed intima di soggetti migranti che deambulano tra utopie e dispersioni identitarie.

Governments, emerging from periods of intense political violence, wars and dictatorships, confront multiple, delicate choices. One of these concerns is the field of memory and, specifically, the question: which collective memory should the identity of the nation be built upon? The answer varies from country to country, yet one feature spans across many realities, often very different from one another: the difficulty of those in power to face the past of their nation in a non-ideological way. This paper analyzes an example of this phenomenon: the representation of the last Argentine dictatorship promulgated by the Kirchner administrations which, in the last fifteen years, has constituted the dominant version of the memory of the '70s in the country of Cono Sur, as well as on the international stage. In the article, this memory is first analyzed in its most problematic aspects, highlighting silences and inaccuracies; then linked to its social effects, above all the consolidation of a binary logic, which manifests itself in the division of the Argentine society into two antagonistic and apparently irreconcilable fields. ; La memoria è uno strumento essenziale al servizio del potere politico, che sfrutta le narrazioni del passato per spiegare, legittimare e creare consenso intorno al proprio operato, oltre che per rinsaldare la coesione sociale e il senso di comunità. Durante questo processo, in cui si vede spesso asservita a finalità politiche contingenti, la memoria corre però il rischio di subire rilevanti deformazioni ideologiche. È proprio un esempio di tale fenomeno ad essere esaminato dal presente articolo, ovvero la rappresentazione dell'ultima dittatura argentina diffusa dalle amministrazioni Kirchner, la quale, nell'ultimo quindicennio, ha costituito la versione dominante della memoria degli anni '70 tanto nel Paese del Cono Sur, quanto sui palcoscenici internazionali. Nel testo, tale memoria viene, prima, analizzata nei suoi aspetti più problematici, mettendone in evidenza i silenzi e le imprecisioni; ...

La tesi indaga l'esperienza del teatro comunitario, una delle espressioni artistiche più originali e pressoché sconosciute nel panorama teatrale novecentesco, che ha avuto in Argentina un punto di riferimento fondamentale. Questo fenomeno, che oggi conta cinquanta compagnie dal nord al sud del paese latinoamericano, e qualcuna in Europa, affonda le sue radici nella Buenos Aires della post-dittatura, in una società che continua a risentire degli esiti del terrore di Stato. Il teatro comunitario nasce dalla necessità di un gruppo di persone di un determinato quartiere di riunirsi in comunità e comunicare attraverso il teatro, con l'obiettivo di costruire un significato sociale e politico. La prima questione messa a fuoco riguarda la definizione della categoria di studio: quali sono i criteri che consentono di identificare, all'interno della molteplicità di pratiche teatrali collettive, qualcosa di sicuramente riconducibile a questo fenomeno. Nel corso dell'indagine si è rivelata fondamentale la comprensione dei conflitti dell'esperienza reale e l'individuazione dei caratteri comuni, al fine di procedere a un esercizio di generalizzazione. La ricerca ha imposto la necessità di comprendere i meccanismi mnemonici e identitari che hanno determinato e, a loro volta, sono stati riattivati dalla nascita di questa esperienza. L'analisi, supportata da studi filosofici e antropologici, è volta a comprendere come sia cambiata la percezione della corporeità in un contesto di sparizione dei corpi, dove il lavoro sulla memoria riguarda in particolare i corpi assenti (desaparecidos). L'originalità del tema ha imposto la riflessione su un approccio metodologico in grado di esercitare una adeguata funzione euristica, e di fungere da modello per studi futuri. Sono stati pertanto scavalcati i confini degli studi teatrologici, con particolare attenzione alle svolte culturali e storiche che hanno preceduto e affiancato l'evoluzione del fenomeno. ; The thesis investigates the community theater experience as one of the most original and least known artistic expressions of the 20th century theater scene, which had a fundamental reference point in Argentina. To date this phenomenon, which counts fifty companies all over Latin America and some in Europe, has its roots in post-dictatorship Buenos Aires, in a society that continues to be affected by State Terror. Community theatre came to light from the need of a group of neighbors to gather in community and communicate through theatre to build social and political meaning. The first issue is the definition of study category: what criteria allow to identify, within the multiplicity of collective theatre practices, something to clearly trace back to this phenomenon. During the investigation, essentials were the understanding of real experience conflicts and the identification of common traits in order to carry out generalization. Research has imposed the need to understand identitarian and mnemonic mechanisms that in turn determined and have been reactivated by the birth of this experience. The analysis, supported by studies in philosophy and anthropology, is intended to understand how the perception of corporeality changes in the context of the disappearance of the body, in particular where the work on memory concerns the absent bodies (desaparecidos). The uniqueness of the topic has imposed the research of a methodological approach suitable to exert an adequate heuristic function, and act as a model for future studies. Therefore, Theatrological studies boundaries were crossed, paying special attention to the cultural and historical turns that preceded and accompanied the phenomenon's evolution.

L'elaborato ha lo scopo di indagare l'identità intersezionali dei tre artisti oggetto di analisi: Reinaldo Arenas, Pedro Lemebel e Nahum B. Zenil, in relazione alle opere letterarie e artistiche da essi prodotte negli anni Novanta del Novecento. Particolare attenzione è stata posta sui testi autobiografici e i ritratti, in modo da evidenziare le relazioni tra storia individuale e Storia collettiva. Ampio spazio è stato riservato ai linguaggi e alle estetiche dissidenti, a partire dalle teorie elaborate da Judith Butler, su base derridiana, inerenti gli enunciati performativi e alle teorie di Angvik e Ricardo Llamas inerenti le tanatografie e le sidentidades. ; The paper aims to investigate the intersectional identity of the three artists analyzed: Reinaldo Arenas, Pedro Lemebel and Nahum B. Zenil, in relation to the literary and artistic works produced by them in the nineties of the twentieth century. Particular attention was placed on autobiographical texts and self-portraits, in order to highlight the relationship between the individual and collective history. Ample space has been reserved to the languages and aesthetic dissidents, from theories developed by Judith Butler, based on Derrida, the inherent performative utterances and theories of Angvik and Ricardo Llamas inherent tanatografie and sidentidades.
