(WHIASU) A basic guide to conducting a HIA. 1. Health impact assessment is a tool that can help organisations to assess the possible consequences of their decisions on people۪s health and well-being, thereby helping to develop more integrated policies and programmes. 2. This document has been developed as a practical guide to health impact assessment. It is designed to meet the needs of a variety of organisations by explaining the concept, the process and its flexibility, and by providing templates that can be adjusted to suit. 3. The Welsh Assembly Government is committed to developing the use of health impact assessment in Wales as a part of its strategy to improve health and wellbeing and to reduce health inequalities. This practical guide has been prepared by the Welsh Health Impact Assessment Support Unit, which was established by the Welsh Assembly Government to encourage and support organisations and groups in Wales to use the approach. 4. The development and use of health impact assessment will contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of local health, social care and wellbeing strategies, which is a joint statutory responsibility for Local Health Boards and local authorities. It can also contribute to Community Strategies which, given their overarching nature and breadth and depth, can address social, economic and environmental determinants of health, and to the implementation of Communities First, the Welsh Assembly Government۪s crosscutting regeneration programme. 5. The development of Health Challenge Wales as the national focus for improving health in Wales reinforces efforts to prevent ill health. Tools such as health impact assessment can help organisations and groups in all sectors to identify ways in which they can help people to improve their health.

How can governments and companies be jointly empowered to have a positive impact on the sustainable development goals? The current economic system is largely geared towards increasing economic growth. But this could come at the expense of rising social inequality and environmental degradation. This paper examines the link between economic system outcomes and corporate sustainability outcomes. We provide evidence that governments and companies can reinforce each other in their pursuit of sustainable development. Sustainable development is based on three pillars: economic, social and environmental. These pillars should be assessed and balanced in an integrated way. An impact economy, in which governments and companies balance profit and impact, is best placed to achieve the sustainable development goals.

This report examines the way in which Arabs, Islam and the Israel-Arab conflict are presented in the new textbooks introduced in school years 5761 (2000-2001) and 5762 (2001-2002) for use in Israeli State Schools, State Religious Schools and the Ultra Orthodox Schools. The books surveyed are in the following subjects: history, civics, literature, geography, language and the scriptures. This report is an update of the previous report published by the Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace in September 2000, which surveyed 360 Israeli textbooks that were in use for 5760 (1999- 2000). This report takes stock of the market for impact investing and examines the conditions that would allow the market to grow and realize its potential. Historically, there have always been investors who cared about more than just financial returns. Governments and philanthropists, for example, have set up investment vehicles with mandates to promote social and environmental goals. Over the last decade, impact investing has gained prominence as an approach to investment that aims to achieve both financial returns and social or environmental goals.1 This has created a dynamic but somewhat disorganized market of diverse participants, standards, and concepts. Although still small, the market is attracting considerable interest, and it has the potential to increase in scale, and thereby contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris climate goals.

THAT JUDICIAL IMPACT STATEMENTS DO NOT PROTECT FEDERAL AND STATE JUDICIARIES NOR ASSIST LEGISLATURES IS DOCUMENTED IN RESPECT TO FEDERAL EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE, THE CALIFORNIA EXPERIENCE, AS WELL AS INDEPENDENT INTERVIEW DATA WHICH IS SUMMARIZED IN THIS ARTICLE. THE BROADER ISSUE OF THE REASON AND POSSIBLE MEANING OF THE CURRENCY OF SUCH A STRATEGY EMERGES. THE BEHAVIORAL ASSUMPTIONS AND POWER RELATIONS THAT UNDERLIE JUDICIAL REFORM ARE ADDRESSED. THE CONCLUSION DOES NOT DENY THE PRACTICAL USE OF IMPACT STATEMENTS BUT STATES A NEED FOR MORE MODEST CLAIMS AND COUNTERCLAIMS.

ABSTRACTJudicial impact statements, if used indiscriminately, can do little either to protect federal and state judiciaries or assist legislatures. This conclusion emerges clearly from well documented case material available with respect to federal executive experience, the California experience with impact statements, as well as independent interview data which is summarized here. As a result, the broader issue of the reasons and the possible meaning of the currency of such a strategy emerges. Two such issues are addressed here: the behavioral assumptions and power relations that underlie judicial reform.
