The coronavirus crisis obscures the extent to which structural change leads to widespread job losses in the German industrial sector. However, not all structural change is the same: the choice of policy approaches with which digitalisation and decarbonisation are implemented has significant influence on how the prospects for employees in this sector develop. Small businesses in particular seem to be at risk, regardless of their profitability, because the framework conditions for transformation are too uncertain. A comprehensive employee survey shows that there is great uncertainty in the leading sectors of the German industry. In many places, employees fear for their jobs and hope for more on-the-job training and a targeted, active industrial policy — this is a challenge for the next federal government.

; The consequences of the global financial and economic crisis have done much to open the eyes of those who saw themselves in a post-industrial world in which the days of manufacturing were numbered. It has now been realised that a solid industrial base fosters a country's economic growth and promotes prosperity. The EU Commission has recently set a target for increasing industry's share of gross domestic product in the EU 27 from currently just under 16 per cent to 20 per cent by the year 2020. The USA, too, is determined to reindustrialise. These developments raise a whole array of questions to which this analysis provides answers: How has European, and especially German, industry maintained its position in the global competition with other industrialised countries and the aspiring emerging economies? Can and should the "German business model" be an example for other countries in Europe? To what extent do our European neighbours benefit from Germany's industry? Or, on the contrary, does German industry need efficient industrial partners in other European countries for its own long-term success? And what recommendations can be derived from these developments for industrial policy strategies in Europe and Germany?

The protection of Industrial Design has been set forth since 1883 by the Paris Convention. Such protection has been carried out in the Netherlands-Indie since 1894 with the registration of the first mark by the office of industrial property. A lapse of the long period has occurred until the year 2000 when the Government of the Republic of Indonesia promulgated the Law Number 31 of 2000 on the Industrial Design. With the application of such law, any registration of Industrial Design with bad faith can be disputed by the aggrieved party, namely the party that legally has the right for such industrial designs. Uncertainly on the precise meaning of the term "novelty" has caused different interpretations regarding the provision of Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Law Number 31 of 2000 on the Industrial Design. Correction should be made to prevent unfair interpretation in the time to come. Keywords: paris convention, TRIPs, industrial design, unfair interpretation.

International audience ; The arms industries are mainly located in developed countries, but some countries with a large population and area engage in this activity based on several economic analyses of development (theory of import-substitution, product cycle de Vernon, development poles, military Keynesianism, opportunity costs, the influence of the military sector on national R&D, and Marxist analysis). Empirical analyses of the impact of the arms industries in developing countries emphasize the importance of national security, economic independence and economic development itself, but the concrete results, at least in the medium term, are hardly conclusive, in particular due to the importance of the action of multinational firms on locally produced products, the heavy capital of military investments, the virtual monopoly of R&D in developed countries and the difficult transfer of military technologies to the civilian sector.

Business and government have espoused a variety of policies to exploit market forces to their advantage. This article explores the policies involved with important issues affecting relationships among protagonists in primary industries and offers some suggestions. The first section deals with "freeing" the supply of key information not normally accessible to less developed countries(LDC's). Sections two and three relate to two aspects of international trade: easing hardships resulting from interruptions in re-source flows; and redistributing gain from resource industries among trading countries. The final two sections of the article deal with development financing, and with the accommodation of foreign investments with a country's perception of its sovereignty.

; The extent and structure of outsourcing and offshoring since 1971 is examined in this paper. Official statistics show that the share of intermediate inputs on production in German industry has increased significantly since the mid-1990s, both at current prices and price-adjusted. The share leveled off in the last years at a level of nominal 68 percent. Business cycle influences on the development of outsourcing and offshoring are low. Outsourcing varies by sector and size of enterprise. In some knowledge-intensive industries, such as pharmaceuticals and engineering, outsourcing is low and has barely increased. For large companies, outsourcing is more pronounced than for small ones. Comparing of the development of the share of intermediate inputs and the wage ratio suggests that labor costs as a reason to outsourcing has decreased. Also, offshoring has increased. The share of imported inputs in the purchase of intermediate inputs has increased significantly since the 1990s. In 2010, one third of intermediate inputs were imported, one-fifth of that from other EU countries. Imports from EU countries have grown much faster than those from the rest of the world. Thus, European Union members benefit from German offshoring. A rough estimate of outsourcing effects shows that the employment generated significantly exceeds direct employment in the industry.
