Schwerpunkt dieser Erhebung war die detaillierte Analyse der Mediennutzung der Bevölkerung im Kontext politischer Informationen. Neben der Relevanz von politischen Informationen wurden Aussagen zu Medienpräferenzen und der Bedeutung lokaler Inhalte sowie der Individualisierbarkeit von Information erhoben. Auch der Zusammenhang zwischen Informationsverfügbarkeit und Informationsverhalten wurde genauer betrachtet. Wichtige Schwerpunkte lagen auf den Themen ´Glaubwürdigkeit der unterschiedlichen Medien´ sowie ´Umgang mit Fake News´. Schließlich wurde die Bekanntheit verschiedener Kommunikationsmittel der Bundesregierung, ihre Nutzung und ihre Bewertung erfragt.
Im Vorfeld der Bevölkerungserhebung wurde eine umfassende qualitative Erhebung (Tiefeninterviews) durchgeführt, die als Grundlage für die Entwicklung des Erhebungsinstruments diente.

Themen: Wichtigkeit der Informiertheit über aktuelle Themen; Politikinteresse; Häufigkeit von Berührungspunkten mit Politik (auf der Arbeit, in der Schule oder Uni, persönliche Gespräche mit Freunden bzw. Die Studie zum Informationsverhalten wurde von Info GmbH im Auftrag des Presse- und Informationsamts der Bundesregierung durchgeführt. Im Erhebungszeitraum 26.08.2021 bis 11.09.2021 wurden 1502 deutschsprachige Personen ab 16 Jahren in telefonischen Interviews (CATI) und Onlineinterviews (CAWI) zu folgenden Themen befragt: Schwerpunkt der Erhebung war die detaillierte Analyse der Mediennutzung der Bevölkerung im Kontext politischer Informationen. Neben der Relevanz von politischen Informationen wurden Aussagen zu Medienpräferenzen inkl. der Nutzung von Messengerdiensten sowie zur Wahrnehmung der Meinungsfreiheit erhoben. Schwerpunkte lagen auf der Glaubwürdigkeit der unterschiedlichen Medien sowie dem Umgang mit Fake News. Schließlich wurde die Bekanntheit verschiedener Informationsangebote der Bundesregierung, ihre Nutzung und ihre Bewertung erfragt. Die Auswahl der Befragten erfolgte durch eine mehrstufige Zufallsstichprobe aus den ADM-Auswahlrahmen für Festnetz- und Mobilfunknummern (Dual-Frame Stichprobe) und eine Zufallsauswahl aus einem aktiv rekrutierten Online-Accesspanel.

This study explored the information behaviour of representative groups in responding to Scottish Government consultations. It investigated how organizations find out about relevant consultations, how they go about gathering information in preparation for submitting a response and how they find out about the results of consultations to which they have contributed. Method. Semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted with individuals usually responsible for preparing or coordinating their organization's consultation responses. Data were collected from fifty-four groups. Analysis. Interviews were recorded digitally and transcribed. These transcripts were then analysed to identify the important themes and issues emerging. Results. A wide range of behaviour was identified, often dependent on the subject and complexities of the consultation, its perceived importance to the group, and the timescale and organizational resources available. The study also revealed idiosyncratic and flawed Scottish Government processes, particularly in identifying and informing potential consultees, and in providing post-consultation feedback. Conclusions. While some organizations displayed the characteristics of influential 'insider groups', these groups were not always the most active in terms of information seeking. Further research is required into the relationships between insider status, informedness and the effectiveness of engagement in the Scottish Government's policy making process.

This paper discusses how the knowledge gained from information studies creates the possibility of dealing with the challenges of refugee integration. We demonstrate that a situation-focused approach creates a systemic understanding of information needs that is useful not only for the individual but also for the design of institutional responses to forced migration. We analysed findings from our research into refugee integration using the sense-making situation-gap approach and found micro- and macro-situations affecting information behaviour and use. The combined analysis of individual and contextual factors highlighted the characteristics of situations for actors, actions, interactions and events of context. We show that overarching situations faced by refugees determine individual information gap moments, and we discuss situational information behaviour in light of these findings. The findings show how a situational approach expands understanding in information studies and emphasises the depth information behaviour adds to the social and behavioural sciences.

The magic word of the last years is internationalization. Researchers more and more focus on export market information and the relationship between this information and export performance. Just a few studies take into account the impact of firm characteristics on these topics. This study shows that country-of-origin, sector and size class (both individually and simultaneously) influence both the number of information sources consulted, and the type of information provider consulted. Besides, the relationship between the amount of export market information and export sales is not straightforward, but needs to be corrected for these three firm characteristics. These conclusions have implications for governmental export promotion campaigns, for the information behaviour of SME-managers, and for the strategies of information providers.

Intercultural Differences in the Purchase and Information Behaviour of Young Consumers
Pressures in the contemporary marketing environment are getting bigger and companies and marketers are required to know consumers and their purchase and information behaviour. In this article we studied the behaviour of consumers and the factors of purchase and information behaviour of young consumers when choosing clothes. We found out about the meaning of individual clothing characteristics having impact on the purchase decision making (price, trademark, fitting of clothing, design, quality, etc.). Consumers receive and look for information at different sources (radio commercials, TV commercials and shows, fashion magazines, catalogue sales, social networks, friends and acquaintances, etc.). With the empiric research we wanted to find out to what measure individual sources influence the purchase decision of an individual. We studied young people aged from 15 to 24 in the countries of the EU (Slovenia, Austria and Germany) and the United States of America. We especially focused on characteristic differences. Knowing intercultural differences is important for global companies of the clothing industry for forming their marketing strategies. On the sample of 440 young people who took part in the survey we found out that intercultural differences exist regarding the influence of individual information sources and regarding the factors of purchase decision making. Considering the stated we propose companies operating in global markets on both continents to prepare differentiated marketing strategies.

Abstract
In the debate about what informs social work practice, research remains the dominant discourse. However, the relationship between research and social work practice has always been an uneasy one, arguably passed from other clinical disciplines without resizing to fit social work. Even as social work research matures as a discipline it represents one element in a much broader composite which informs practice. This article takes a unique step back from the traditional research-practice discourse and examines the broader information landscape of social work practice, asking how practitioners inform their practice, rather than how research informs practice. This study explores the information needs that prompt practitioners to search for information, the strategies they employ, their acquisition of information and the uses to which the information is put. This study aims to elucidate the information behaviour with a view to improving dissemination and use. Findings demonstrate that the social work information base is substantially broader than has been suggested. Practitioners employ a pragmatic palette of strategies to navigate the breadth of information that supports practice, from research through to knowledge sharing. This article proposes that a pragmatic framework of information behaviour is required to accurately reflect the information behaviour of social workers.

Die Studie über Informationsverhalten zum Krieg in der Ukraine wurde von Info Markt- und Meinungsforschung, Berlin im Auftrag des Bundespresseamts der Bundesregierung durchgeführt. Im Erhebungszeitraum 01.06.2022 bis 16.06.2022 wurde die deutschsprachige Wohnbevölkerung ab 18 Jahren in Onlineinterviews (CAWI) und telefonischen Interviews (CATI) (Mixed-Mode-Design) zu folgenden Themen befragt: Einstellungen zum Thema Ukraine-Krieg bzw. dessen Auswirkungen auf Deutschland, Informationsverhalten und Umgang mit dem Ukraine-Krieg und dessen Auswirkungen, Mediennutzung zur Information über den Ukraine-Krieg und dessen Auswirkungen auf Deutschland, Glaubwürdigkeit von Informationen und Falschinformationen, Wahrnehmung von Informationen der Bundesregierung zu den Auswirkungen des Ukraine-Krieges auf Deutschland, Einstellungen zum Umgang mit dem Ukraine-Krieg und zu möglichen Risiken sowie generelle Einstellungen zur Politik. Die Auswahl der Befragten erfolgte für die Onlineinterviews (CAWI) durch eine mehrstufige Zufallsstichprobe aus einem aktiv rekrutierten Online-Access-Panel und für die telefonischen Interviews (CATI) aus einem ADM-Auswahlrahmen unter Einschluss von Festnetz- und Mobilfunknummern (Dual-Frame Stichprobe).

Introduction. The paper will present the preliminary results of a study of voters' online information behaviour being conducted during the 2014 Scottish independence referendum campaign. The referendum provides a rare opportunity to explore politicians' use of the Internet, and citizens' information behaviour, in a completely different campaign setting: one where traditional political opponents have joined forces to either support or oppose the independence argument. Method. The study uses the authors' interactive, electronically-assisted interview method, where participants are observed and questioned as they search for, browse and use information on the web sites and social media sites of political actors taking part in the pro- and anti-independence campaigns. Analysis. All interviews are being audio-recorded digitally and transcribed. The transcripts will then be analysed to identify the important themes and issues emerging. Results. The paper presents the researchers' initial impressions of the nature and impact of voters' online behaviour during the campaign. For example, it will report on the participants' views of the relevance and comprehensibility of the information obtained, and on the potential influence of this information on their voting decisions. Conclusions. The paper presents some preliminary conclusions concerning the relationship between the provision and use of online political information and the democratic process.

PurposeThe study aims to explore information behaviour and its potential impact on buyer‐supplier relationships in electronic reverse auction (e‐RA). In spite of the widely assumed benefits of e‐RAs, recent studies have identified negative effects of e‐RAs on buyer‐supplier relationships.Design/methodology/approachThe research is based on nine interviews with automotive buyers and suppliers who use e‐RAs and 15 interviews with automotive companies who do not use e‐RAs. The interviews were analysed using the method of content analysis. The analysis process was supported relying on the qualitative software package Atlas/ti.FindingsOverall, the results indicate that differences in information behaviour may affect buyer‐supplier relationships. Particularly the inadequate treatment of suppliers and the reduced quality of the communication proved to be the major mediating factors for negative outcomes. Also, the use of e‐RAs is believed not to be as widespread as generally assumed.Research limitations/implicationsConsidering the limited scope of this research, further investigation of the above topic is required incorporating several sources of data, e.g. as part of a case study approach. Also, the generalisability of the results might be improved by obtaining responses from more buyers and suppliers through a larger scale survey.Practical implicationsThe paper suggests that the adequate consideration of context and the careful preparation of the event including strictly equal treatment of all participants and effective communication are key factors for obtaining benefits from e‐RAs.Originality/valueConsidering the limited evidence on how specific characteristics may affect buyer‐seller relations, this research provides a first step in opening up the e‐RA "black box".
