Ziel der PG ist das automatische Erstellen eines Pressespiegels für eine bestimmte Person (z.B. einen Politiker) oder eine bestimmte Firma aus dem Internet bzw. aus Datenbanken. Daraus sollen dann gezielt Antworten auf bestimmte Fragen extrahiert werden. Methoden zu einem solchen Intelligence Service werden untersucht und implementiert. Allerdings ist das Spektrum der Informationen für eine einzige Anfrage hierbei zu gross. Das Problem ist, die interessanten Daten zwischen den uninteressanten Daten herauszufinden. Dies ist das Problem des Information Retrieval. Der zu entwickelnde Intelligence Service soll natürlich über das Information Retrieval von Suchmaschinen hinausgehen. Das grundsätzliches Problem ist, dass Suchmaschinen nicht konkrete Antworten liefern. Vielmehr wird eine Auswahl an Dokumenten geliefert, die die Antwort zu gestellten Anfrage höchstwahrscheinlich enthält. Was man aber oft möchte, ist auf eine Frage wie: Welcher Bundeskanzler stellte als letztes das Misstrauensvotum? Antwort: Gerhard Schröder (zusammen mit der URL, auf der die Information gefunden wurde, zu erhalten.) Für solche Fragebeantwortung muss man nicht nur die relevanten Dokumente finden, sondern auch die relevanten Passagen,dies ist ein weiterer Punkt, der von Suchmaschinen nicht erbracht wird. Wenn die Dokumente durch eine Auszeichnungssprache (XML) annotiert sind, ist die Suche in den relevanten Dokumenten erleichtert, so dass gezielt etwa nach Investitionen, Erfolgen, neuen Produkten, Börsenzahlen gesucht werden kann. Die meisten Dokumente sind aber nicht annotiert. Man muss also algorithmisch nach Entitäten eines bestimmten Typs (z.B. Person, Ort, Firma) suchen. Das Gebiet, das sich mit der Erkennung der Entitäten eines inhaltlichen Typs in Texten befasst, ist die Named Entity Recognition (NER) und verwendet statistische Verfahren und solche des maschinellen Lernens bzw. Data Mining. Somit ist die NER ein weiterer Bereich, mit dem sich die PG befassen muss. Die Abfolge von Anfragen sollte jedoch automatisiert erfolgen, um ein allgemein nutzbares System zu scha en. Für Politiker bietet sich hierfür beispielsweise die Internetseite Bundestag.de an. Hier sind zu jedem Abgeordneten die jeweiligen Biographien hinterlegt. Zusätzlich zu diesen offensichtlichen Daten kann man jedoch auch noch die digital vorliegenden Drucksachen (z.B. Anträge) und Protokolle verarbeiten. Nach durchgeführter NER über diesen Dokumenten sollen dann konkrete Fragen beantwortet werden.

United States (U.S.) civilian and military intelligence services increasingly have engaged with local intelligence services, either in an advisory role or direct coordination or liaison. In many cases, the intelligence officers have tended to try to remake the local intelligence services in the image of U.S. intelligence structures and procedures, with these efforts rather futile in most cases. One factor that has led to considerable frustration and potential failure has been a lack of understanding of the culture of local intelligence systems. Understanding both the subtleties of an area's social norms and mores, and the bureaucratic and historical cultures of other intelligence services remain critical factors in long-term success. Using case studies of environments in which established intelligence services have worked with emergent intelligence agencies, this paper examines the requirements for incorporating both larger cultural approaches and detailed knowledge of other intelligence bureaucracies.

The Intelligence Service created networks to prepare an invasion in case Germany decided to take Gibraltar. They used the restoration of the monarchy to gain support, concealing their military and financial ties with England.

Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, intelligence has experienced a real upheaval, in France and abroad. While some wondered about its future at the end of the Cold War, the advent of globalized terrorism and the numerous attacks on the territory of several Western countries have put the intelligence services at the heart of defense and security activities. In France, new services have emerged while others have undergone major restructuring, which has changed the complex architecture of public intelligence policy. The many laws adopted between 2006 and 2019 have increased the prerogatives of the services. The activity of the intelligence services undermines many rights and freedoms, which nevertheless enjoy enhanced legal protection. For several decades, only the executive branch controlled the activity of the services. However, the desire for greater transparency on public action has led to the development of new controls, even for a public policy as sensitive as that of intelligence. Thus, the Government has new tools, Parliament has established specifics institutions and now the judge intervenes to control the activity of intelligence services. The organization of intelligence control is as complex as the structure of the services, but their interlocking makes it possible to guarantee a complete system. ; Depuis le début du XXIème siècle, le renseignement a connu un véritable bouleversement, en France comme à l'étranger. In recent years the retail payments market has experienced significant technical advancement, with compelling growth in regard to development to new forms of payment and numerous payment services in the market place. In 2015, the European Commission (EC) introduced a new directive for payment services called PSD2, entering into force on 13 January 2018, to reduce barriers of entry and integrating retail payments across the European Union (EU). By granting third party non-financial institutions access to consumers' financial data, the EC is opening the financial services industry and levelling the playing field. This allows for a strong drive for innovation in the sector and for start-ups to offer new services to compete with the traditional banks. Consumer knowledge gained by the analysis of financial data becomes a strategic asset and allow businesses to connect with customers in new ways. New data intelligence services emerge in the financial technology industry seeking to close the knowledge gap between the expectations of customer experiences and currently available bank offerings. Therefore, the work project identifies how to provide valuable customer intelligence to businesses in the financial payments industry with regard to PSD2. To examine the new and emerging opportunities, we conceptualise a Consumer Data Intelligence Service, including statistical analyses to predict potential consumer behaviour. The proposed Consumer Data Intelligence Service concept suggests that turning relevant customer data into valuable insights through data analytics will allow businesses to act on the new opportunities. In secrecy for decades, the terrorist attacks of in 2001 in the heart of our cities have brought the intelligence services and their role in the fight against terrorism closer to a large sector of the population. Post 9/11 studies have shown how knowledge helps to mitigate stress. In this project, the process of preparing two animated videos is described. They offer material to parents and educators that will help to inform young people that, alongside the police and the military, there is another democratic institution with people in charge of protecting them. The field work was conducted with 455 students of between 8 and 16 years old from various Spanish cities. In all, 83% of students considered that the story was of interest as well as the way it was communicated. In conclusion, the animated videos were seen by the schoolchildren as an appropriate means of communicating the role of security institutions.

Maģistra darbā "Parlamentārā uzraudzība pār drošības iestādēm Latvijā" tiek pētīti parlamentārās uzraudzības pār drošības iestādēm mehānismi, ar mērķi noskaidrot, kā Latvijā tiek realizēta parlamentārā kontrole pār drošības iestādēm, cik sakārtoti ir normatīvie akti un kā parlamentārās uzraudzības mehānismi darbojas praksē. Darba teorētiskajā daļā tiek skaidroti tādi teorētiskie jautājumi kā parlamenta funkcijas demokrātiskā valstī, parlamentārās komisijas, parlamentārā uzraudzība, parlamentārās uzraudzības pār drošības iestādēm mehānismi un efektivitātes kritēriji, savukārt empīriskā daļa tiek balstīta uz ekspertu intervijām. Darbā salīdzinoši pētīti arī Vācijas un Igaunijas parlamentārās uzraudzības pār drošības iestādēm modeļi. Darbam izvirzīts izpētes jautājums - vai esošie parlamentārās uzraudzības mehānismi pār drošības iestādēm Latvijā nodrošina efektīvu drošības iestāžu uzraudzību, vai drošības iestādes veic savas funkcijas atbilstoši likumā noteiktajai kārtībai un tiek nodrošināta iedzīvotāju interešu aizstāvība? Darba gaitā autors sniedz atbildi uz izpētes jautājumu. Autors darbā izvirza savus priekšlikumus, kurus uzskata par nepieciešamiem ieviest, lai uzlabotu parlamentārās kontroles efektivitāti pār drošības iestādēm Latvijā. ; This master's thesis on Parliamentary Oversight of Security Institutions focuses on mechanisms used for parliamentary oversight of security institutions in order to identify how such oversight is executed in Latvia, to determine whether the legislative framework for it is appropriate, and to assess the functioning of parliamentary oversight mechanisms in practice. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to theoretical issues such as the functions of a parliament in a democratic country, the role of parliamentary committees, the concept of parliamentary oversight, as well as mechanisms and effectiveness criteria for parliamentary oversight of security institutions. The empirical part of the thesis contains interviews with experts. A comparative study of parliamentary oversight of security institutions in Latvia and relevant models in Germany and Estonia has also been conducted. The following research question has been framed for the master's thesis: Do the existing mechanisms used for parliamentary oversight of security institutions in Latvia ensure effective oversight of security institutions, do security institutions fulfil their functions in compliance with legislation, and are the interests of people protected? The study offers the answer to the research question. The author has provided recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of parliamentary oversight of security institutions in Latvia.
