Literarysources, mainly annals and inscriptions, as well as ancient items ofillustrative art and material culture provide an insight into the political,economic and religious history of cultures, and are the major resources for ourknowledge of ancient societies. Ancient literary sources such as the Annals ofSargon, as official treatises, emphasize the glory of the king, narratingmilitary campaigns, triumphant battles, and treaties. The inscriptions found inPlain Cilicia mostly provide information about the socioeconomics, cults, and beliefs of the region. Archaeologicalinvestigations conducted in East Plain Cilicia provide clues with regard tothree different cults and beliefs prevalent in the region: these are the cultof the mountain god, the cult of the fertility goddess, and a sacred tree cult.Archaeological finds, some of which bear significant marks, decorations orwritings representing such cults in East Plain Cilicia, that is, YukarıÇukurova Plain in Osmaniye Province, are listed as including an inscriptioncarved on rock, two fragmentary terracotta objects, and a bust statue of afemale deity. Cult-related archaeological finds provide an insight to the cultsand beliefs of East Plain Cilicia which have survived or been revived and have endured for almost twothousand years in the region.

Abstract: In this paper we analyze the impact of exchange rate uncertainty on export flows among a panel of 27 countries throughout the 1994/01-2014/12 period. In order to do this, we apply a panel vector autoregressive model approach. By dividing the panel into two subgroups that involve manufacturing-exporting and commodity-exporting economies, we observe a different effect of exchange rate uncertainty on exports. This has a negative impact in manufacturing-exporting countries, but does not affect commodity exporting countries. This result appears to be explained by countries' economics characteristics, involving the flexibility or rigidities of the export adjustment arising exchange rate uncertainty.

4270 4276 196 9 ; S ; [EN] The influence of different application-oriented factors on the electrochemical activity and stability of TbBaCo3ZnO7+delta when used as a solid oxide fuel cell cathode has been studied. Calcination at temperatures above 900 degrees C (e.g. 1000 degrees C) leads to a significant increase in the electrode polarization resistance. The effect of the sintering temperature of the TbBaCo3ZnO7+delta cathode seems to be more important than the effect produced by the Tb substitution as observed when compared with 900 degrees C-sintered YBaCo3ZnO7+delta; and ErBaCo3ZnO7+delta electrode performances. The presence of CO2 in the air flow leads to an increase of roughly 10% in the polarization resistance for the whole studied temperature range (500-850 degrees C) while this effect is reversible. Analysis of the impedance spectroscopy measurements shows that the exchange rate constant (k(G) from Gerischer element) is significantly affected by CO2 at temperatures below 700 degrees C, while the diffusion coefficient related parameter is slightly influenced at low temperatures. Electrode degrades with a low constant rate of 1 m Omega cm(2) h(-1) after 60h. This cathode material exhibits high CO2 tolerance, as shown by temperature programmed treatment under a continuous gas flow of air with 5% CO2, and a relatively low thermal expansion coefficient. Over the past decade, African agriculture sectors have been the object of numerous initiatives advancing a 'new' Green Revolution for the continent. The low productivity of African small-holders is attributed to the low use of modern, improved agricultural inputs. In short, African countries are expected to catch up with the Green Revolution in other parts of the world. This paper is a contribution to the debate on the new African Green Revolution. We analyse the Rwandan Crop Intensification Program (CIP) as a case-study of the application of the African Green Revolution model. The paper is based on research at the macro, meso and micro level. We argue that the CIP fails to draw lessons from previous Green Revolution experiences in terms of its effects on social differentiation, on ecological sustainability, and on knowledge exchange and creation. ; Pendant les dernières dix années, les secteurs agricoles des pays Africains ont connu un nombre important d'initiatives pour la promotion d'une 'nouvelle' Révolution Verte pour le continent. L'article analyse le Programme d'Intensification des Cultures rwandais (Crop Intensification Program, CIP) en tant qu'étude de cas de l'application du modèle de la Révolution Verte. La discussion présentée dans cet article dérive d'un effort de recherche à trois niveaux : macro, meso et micro. L'analyse révèle que le CIP ne prend pas en considérations les résultats des expériences précédentes de Révolution Verte, en particulier pour ce qui concerne des questions de différentiation sociale, de durabilité environnementale et de création et diffusion des connaissances.

[ES] This article describes the CYTMAR I and II field campaigns carried out in spring and summer 1997 in order to study the physical, biological and chemical processes and flows in the Ebro Delta area, both in the estuarine section of the river and in the freshwater plume formed near the mouth. Here the study has focused on the estuarine area, presenting some preliminary results and analysing the seasonal differences observed. This work is part of the FANS project (contract No. MAS3-CT95-0037) of the European Union's MAST-III programme and of the MAR96-1856 project of the CYTMAR programme of the Interministerial Commission on Science and Technology (CICYT). The permanent derogation regime at global level corresponds to a generalised counter-revolution phase which takes different faces, depending on the cultural and political context of each country and territory. Some want to draw opportunities and lessons from this crisis. Hoping that the crisis will illuminate us and allow us to learn what we did not see about ourselves so far is a moralist and religious pattern. The aim is to share this specific experience, amplify it and enrich it, on the basis of the employment and economic situations we are facing, the growing emotional problems, practices of mutual support, knowledge, exchange and new forms of communication. ; El régimen de excepción permanente a escala global, corresponde a una fase de contrarrevolución generalizada que toma diferentes rostros, según el contexto cultural y político de cada país y de cada territorio. Hay quien quiere extraer, de esta crisis, oportunidades y lecciones. Esperar que la crisis nos ilumine y nos permita aprender lo que hasta ahora no veíamos acerca de nosotros mismos es un esquema moralista y religioso. This article analyses the speeches given by Benoît Hamon in a speech at the La Seyne-sur-Mer Labour Exchange in February 2018. This work is part of the narrative and focuses on dialogical phenomena: we distinguish the speeches studied according to the forum convened by the political actor. Our three categories of analysis are therefore: references to third party speeches, to their own speeches, and to public speeches. The aim is to show both how Benoît Hamon uses these different narratives, and how he treats them in his own speech. It will be seen that often comments on speeches are as important as those comments themselves and that together they play a part in shaping the image of the political actor. ; The paper focuses on reported speech in a political conference by Benoît Hamon in La Seyne-sur-Mer (France) in February, 2018. Three types of reported speech are distinguished : those when the speaker quotes his own speech ; those when he quotes someone else's discourse ; and those when he quotes his interlocutor's speech – that of the public. The study shows how different forms of reported speeches are used by Benoît Hamon throughout the conference, and how these forms play a role in his discourse. The popular revolution in Egypt has proven that the state-owned media was far from being the public opinion's shaper. Yet, it was the sole arena where intellectuals – or rather 'confirmed' intellectuals – could exchange views, shape the hegemonic discourse and dictate the consensus, according to the regime's parameters. That media, and especially the printed press, had crystallized the Egyptian intellectual elite, which by its mere association with the regime has alienated itself from any counter-elite or counter public. Its legitimacy and status stemmed mostly from its political affiliation. My argument is that the survival of the state-owned media after the revolution is not just about functionality, but rather about the survivability of an elite that cannot be replaced. This elite has certainly 'to pay a price' for its betrayal, blindness, lack of courage and neglect. It has to be born again in the same arena where it had committed its 'intellectual crimes' and to create a new hegemonic discourse in the same sphere were the previous regime had corrupted the discourse. However, it is not just about punishing and redeeming the old elites. It is about legitimizing the new discourse that is being created by the revolutionary public. As if the adoption of the new discourse by the state's media will be the ultimate symbol of its acceptance. In my paper, I intend to show the extent of adoption of the new discourse, and the changes in roles of the state's media in legitimizing the new discourse.

After a quick parliamentary journey, the Civil Bankruptcy Law came into force this spring. It will reduce the debt of households who have accumulated too much credit to consume or acquire a dwelling, in exchange for the seizure of most of their property. The main benefit of this judicial decision will therefore be to give them the possibility of a "new start": by drawing a mark on the past, at the expense of the banker, it will enable them to retain the income from their future efforts, rather than being seized immediately by the creditors (.). ; Après un parcours parlementaire rapide, la loi sur la faillite civile est entrée en vigueur ce printemps. 10036 10043 22 29 ; S ; Incorporation of germanium in zeolites is well known to confer static flexibility to their framework, by stabilizing the formation of small rings. In this work, we show that the flexibility associated to Ge atoms in zeolites goes beyond this static effect, manifesting also a clear dynamic nature, in the sense that it leads to enhanced molecular diffusion. Our study combines experimental and theoretical methods providing evidence for this effect, which has not been described previously, as well as a rationalization for it, based on atomistic grounds. We have used both pure-silica and silico-germanate ITQ-29 (LTA topology) zeolites as a case study. Based on our simulations, we identify the flexibility associated to the pore breathing-like behavior induced by the Ge atoms, as the key factor leading to the enhanced diffusion observed experimentally in Ge-containing zeolites. cited By 11 International audience Background: Metal contamination is widespread and results from natural geogenic and constantly increasing anthropogenic sources (mainly mining and extraction activities, electroplating, battery and steel manufacturing or metal finishing). Consequently, there is a growing need for methods to detoxify polluted ecosystems. Industrial wastewater, surface water and ground water need to be decontaminated to alleviate the contamination of soils and sediments and, ultimately, the human food chain. In nuclear power plants, radioactive metals are produced; these metals need to be removed from effluents before they are released into the environment, not only for pollution prevention but also for waste minimization. Many physicochemical methods have been developed for metal removal from aqueous solutions, including chemical coagulation, adsorption, extraction, ion exchange and membrane separation; however, these methods are generally not metal selective. Bacteria, because they contain metal transporters, provide a potentially competitive alternative to the current use of expensive and high-volume ion-exchange resins.Results: The feasibility of using bacterial biofilters as efficient tools for nickel and cobalt ions specific remediation was investigated. Among the factors susceptible to genetic modification in Escherichia coli, specific efflux and sequestration systems were engineered to improve its metal sequestration abilities. Genomic suppression of the RcnA nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) efflux system was combined with the plasmid-controlled expression of a genetically improved version of a specific metallic transporter, NiCoT, which originates from Novosphingobium aromaticivorans. The resulting strain exhibited enhanced nickel (II) and cobalt (II) uptake, with a maximum metal ion accumulation of 6 mg/g bacterial dry weight during 10 min of treatment. 19 37 23 2 ; SWORD ; [EN] The article describes action research into a telecollaborative exchange between the Pädagogische Hochschule in Freiburg, Germany and the Pedagogical University in Krakow, Poland, which took place between October 2014 and January 2015. Both groups followed CALL teacher training study programmes and consisted of 16 students. The study aimed at evaluating the telecollaboration with regard to its effectiveness in the attainment of the planned objective which was training the students in designing CALL tasks with focus on intercultural communicative competence (the German group) or politische Bildung (the Polish group). The article presents the exchange itself (the tasks, the timeline) and, as well discusses the research data collected by means of surveys and observation in the course of the telecollaboration and upon its completion. On twelve October, 1492 the networks of the Old and New World ─ the former represented by Admiral Christopher Columbus and his crew, the latter by the indigenous people of the Caribbean ─ connected for the first time. In this paper we will combine material culture and historical sources to explore the structure and content of the relations between individuals and groups during this first encounter. These early interactions between Europeans and indigenous people had a formative influence on the development of later cross-cultural contacts and historical accounts of the first voyages have always been an invaluable resource for studying these. However, because sources like the famous Colombus Diario feature a complex set of inter-personal ties between Columbus, political players back in Europe, other crew members, and, last but not least, Caribbean indigenous people, it has been difficult to discern the larger structural patterns behind the events. To come to a deeper understanding of some of the actions of Columbus and other key players we will employ (ego-)network approaches to abstract and analyze the structure of ties that are mentioned in the documents. We will focus in particular on the importance of the exchange of goods for the relations between European and indigenous peoples and suggest that a material culture study of encounter contexts can aid in the further contextualization of these inter-personal networks. This will show how, by sharing, exchanging or otherwise incorporating material culture in their interactions, Europeans and Amerindians alike attempted to create and maintain ties of huge personal and historical interest.
