The "Xiamen Academy of International Law " aims to promote academic exchanges among legal communities across the globe, encourage examination of major international issues and, by so doing, seek ways to improve the possibilities for world peace and international cooperation. It seeks to achieve this aim by providing the highest level of education to individuals, particularly those from Asian countries, interested in the development and use of international law a " persons such as young lecturers in international law, diplomats, practitioners of transnational law, government offi
In this article, Latin American migrations are relocated on a time-scale of world-wide flows and linked to the major phases of globalisation in Latin America. The author begins by examining the significance that is attached to the notion of globalisation and shows how migrations in the Latin American context have always been associated with the political and economic history of the sub-continent, which is permanently scarred by social inequalities and vulnerability. But in proposing a view of the globalisation process as seen through the prism of international migrations, this paper also seeks to place certain traditional ways of looking at migration in perspective by evoking the historical wealth of flows world-wide and the importance alike of the "actors of migration" and their aspirations. Thus the article discusses the evolution of approaches, the emergence of new migratory types (and more generally of types of mobility) and the renewal of the paradigms of migratory analysis as they have survived in the field of social sciences in the last twenty years.

Besides too often sensational news, the adoption of foreign children in France gave rise to the recent Colombani report (March 2008), which proposes to change this practice. A backward look at this phenomenon, which has developed mainly since the 1970s, is also essential. Unlike many humanities and social sciences interested in adoption, French historiography has little to do with this complex societal fact. However, archives and testimonies, which are necessary for the work of historian, exist. International adoption connects many actors: applicants for adoption, associations, States and international organisations which develop their own logic that is complementary to or in conflict with those of the other players. Studying these different approaches, constantly interacting and evolving, is an interesting historical approach to international adoption in France. ; International audience For French families intercountry adoption is a difficult process, and not just mere sensational episodes in the newspapers. The difficulties French families encounter when they want to adopt children from foreign countries have given rise to a recent report known as the Colombani report (issued in March, 2008) with a view to facilitate intercountry adoption, a phenomenon dating back to the 1970's. For a historiograph to look at intercountry adoption as a matter for study proves essential for, contrary to a great number of human and social scientists who have addressed intercountry adoption as a complex social issue, French historiographs have but rarely addressed the phenomenon as such. And yet there are many actors intervening in an intercountry adoption procedure : the parents wanting to adopt a child, the associations through which the adoption will be made, the Governments concerned, and international organizations whose approaches may or may not be complementary with those of the other actors, and may sometimes even conflict with them. Studying those different approaches, forever interacting and changing, is a key way to ...
