This article aims on reflecting on the teaching process of the English language in Brazil starting from a perspective that contemplates the sociocultural factors and also the linguistic factors that might influence the learning of a foreign language. Weinreich, Labov and Herzog (2006 [1968]) see any linguistic changes as the result of a process of linguistic fit between variables internal to the linguistic system and those external to it (i.e. socioeconomic factors). Issues such as the Brazilian basic education system, proficiency evaluation, use of English with other speakers, and literacy issues can be considered as extralinguistic factors (external to the language, but which exert influence in it) that along with linguistic system factors, such as Interlanguage, can lead Brazilian speakers to develop a "Brazilian English" (in comparison toterms known as "British English" or "American English"), or to use this language as "lingua franca", to ensure that the purpose of any message is passed on.

Angola Cinema' honors the fantastic, unique and unknown architecture of movie theaters in Angola, built in the decades before the end of Portuguese colonial rule in 1975. Initially designed as traditional closed spaces, later in the 1960s open air cinemas with terrace bars became the order of the day, so much better adapted as they were to the tropical climate. The arrival of these cinemas brought elegance to the business of going to the movies.0But it is not only this exceptional architecture which impresses us and mirrors the experimental spirit of its ambitious and visionary builders. Visiting the cinema was a communal act—it was a place where young met old, where people fell in love and where liberation from colonialism was a feasible option.0Examining the architectural history of these buildings, this book is also a document of urban organization in the 20th century, as well as the changing mentalities of a society living with the possibility of its foreseen independence. What has changed since then, and what is the future of these urban cathedrals? 'Angola Cinema' poses such questions in a book that both preserves these architectonic treasures and reflects on their cultural, social and affective heritage

Starting from the precept that emotions need to be directed to real objects, or at least believed to be real, the paradox of fiction points to the irrationality of emotions stemming from fictional narratives. Since different methodologies meet this dilemma and have been dealing with its solution since its identification, a possible solution would be to associate findings and theories of different currents in the search for a more complete solution of the problem. By proposing the naturalization of phenomenology as an aid in the formulation of an elucidation, this article investigates naturalization not as a substitution of cognitive theories in phenomenology, but as a collaboration between areas that approach identical problems in different ways and may facilitate a resolution of the paradox. As a result of the approximation between investigations by subjectivity and empiricism, an opportunity for experiment design is identified that intends to broaden the knowledge needed to solve the paradox.

The English atheist in the 17th century is characterized by a polyphony of meanings. But, how would you say the atheist would be in this period? What is the image of the atheist? What is the criterion for specifying the atheist's modus operandi? How to attribute the legal status of someone who is accused of atheism? These are some questions that this text intends to answer, aiming at mapping the various meanings of what is meant by an atheist in the seventeenth century English, in an attempt to extract a concept.
