The research problems of this study are the difficulties in the explanation of the phenomenon of reading in its accelerated transformations by quantitative sociological methods, because of failure to comply with a number of factors: first, the social aspects of the purchase, consumption and possession of reading materials have not yet been reading; second, reading is both asocial and social activity; third, the reader is not social status, social class, social group or social role. Author's hypothesis: the most accessible and authoritative audience methods for study of the reading – sociological research methods, are unable to disclose the specifics of the reader and reading, they provide limited data only on the outer side of the reading activity, for its quantitative indicators but do not reach to the knowledge about the nature and the reasons both for the reading and not reading. The object of this study is the use of sociological research methods in the study of the reader and the reading. The purpose is to reveal the problems generated by the classical sociological research methods, which fed up the mainstream negativity towards the contemporary reading and hinder his objective knowledge. Methodology/approach: The study was conducted by critical analytical and synthetic approach, which involves a systematic review, comparative analysis of terminology and concepts and educational integrated research on the topic "Does my microgroup read?" among Bulgarians over 14 years (2003–2017). Findings: There have been found 15 disadvantages of the sociological methods of the study of reading, as a result of which, science can get a false picture of the reading situation of local and global level. These disadvantages are as follows: 1) research vs. survey, 2) sociological propaganda, 3) the effect of the crowd, 4) fear from the reader, 5) unrecognition of snobbery towards reading and the books, 6) connotations of the word "reading", 7) literature vs. book, 8) the index "free time", 9) reading in the consumer modality, 10) reading as demonstrative consumption, 11) undefined "reader", 12) the respondent lie, 13) the respondent resistance, 14) the prejudice "compulsory for reading", 15) absence of axiological balance. As an alternative to the sociological methods for obtaining of objective results in the study of the reading and the readers is proposed the integrated approach between qualitative sociological methods and the methods of cognitive neuroscience and bibliopsychology.

This editorial introduces a thematic issue on "Rethinking Media and Social Space". By critically rethinking the relationship between media and social space this issue takes initial steps towards ensuring that media studies is appropriate for a mediatized world. Contemporary societies are permeated by media that play important roles in how people maneuver and position themselves in the social world. Yet, analyses of media-related social change too often fail to engage with the complex and situated nature of power relations. This editorial highlights three enduring problems: (1) the annihilation of the socially structured and structuring role of media technologies and practices; (2) the conflation of inherent social capacities of media technologies and discourses with existing mediations of power, and (3) the reduction of social space to one predominant dimension which overshadows all other forms of social power that media technologies, discourses, and practices are part of. As a response to these problems -and in bringing together the arguments of the five articles included in the thematic issue- this editorial calls for sociologized approaches to media technologies, discourses, and practices.

Mediatization has become increasingly a key concept, fundamental, essential to describe the present and the history of media and communicative change taking place. Thus, it became part of a whole, one can not see them as a separate sphere. In this perspective, the media coverage is used as a concept to describe the process of expansion of the different technical means and consider the interrelationships between the communicative change, means and sociocultural change. However, although many researchers use the concept of mediatization, each gives you the meaning that best suits your needs. Thus, the concept of media coverage is treated with multiple voices. This paper discusses this problem and present a preliminary pre-position on the matter.

Das Vertrauen zu einer Marke gilt in der Unternehmenskommunikation als wesentliche Brücke zwischen Sympathie und Loyalität. Als potenzielle Dimensionen der Vertrauenswürdigkeit von Marken zeichneten sich im Rahmen einer qualitativen Erhebung die Kategorien Kompetenz, Wohlwollen und Integrität ab, wobei letztere sich aus den Subkategorien Aufrichtigkeit, Transparenz und ethisches Wirtschaften zusammensetzt. Die Relevanz dieser Komponenten als Vertrauenswürdigkeitsdimensionen wurde im Anschluss anhand einer quantitativen Untersuchung bestätigt. Diese verwies allerdings auf eine hohe Markenspezifität in der Relevanz und der Gewichtung der einzelnen Komponenten. Für die Dimension Ethisches Wirtschaften, eine Subkategorie der Integrität, zeigte sich zudem ein wichtiger interpersoneller Einflussfaktor: Personen, die sich stark an Normen orientieren, bewerten die soziale und ökologische Verantwortungsübernahme einer Marke bzw. des dahinterstehenden Unternehmens als relevant für ihr Vertrauen. Für Personen mit einer eher nutzenorientierten Haltung trifft dies weniger zu. Ein in der Studie nachgewiesener signifikanter Moderatoreffekt zeigte sich bei Marken, die als besonders nachhaltig wahrgenommen wurden.

We are proud of Challenges in Sustainability's (CiS) fruitful start. A variety of quality research articles, editorials and notes have been published on a range of themes and topics, including sustainability governance [1], improved cookstoves [2,3], the potentials of 3-D printing in the global South [4], and the need for consiliences between the natural and social sciences and the humanities [5], to name just a few. Furthermore, despite the journal's short history, we are pleased with its high visibility, where numerous articles have been viewed or downloaded over 1200 times since publication. The high exposure rate and the quality of publications affirm our aspirations for stable growth and development in the future.

Communication and marketing professionals make strategic decisions in highly complex and dynamic contexts. These decisions are highly uncertain on the outcome and process level when, for example, consumer behaviour is at stake. Decision support systems can provide insights in these levels of uncertainty and the professional process of decision making. However, literature describing decision support tools for strategic communication and marketing management that provide clear insights in uncertainty levels is lacking. This study therefore aims at developing a consumer behaviour simulation module as an important element of such a future decision support tool. The consumer behaviour simulation we propose in this paper is based on data collected from a survey among 386 households with which a behavioural change model was calibrated. We show how various decision scenarios for strategic communication and marketing challenges can be explored and how such a simulation based decision support system can facilitate strategic communication and marketing management concerning the introduction of a smart energy meter.

Mittels einer Konfigurationsfrequenzanalyse untersucht die Autorin für den Zeitraum von 1876 bis 1933 die theoretischen Konzepte der Sozialdemokratischen Partei Deutschlands über die Vermittlung von Literatur in der Arbeiterpresse, die Praxis der Literaturvermittlung sowie die Literaturrezeption in Bezug auf Autoren, deren Werke und der sozialdemokratischen Verwertungsstrategien anhand der Tageszeitungen 'Berliner Volksblatt' und 'Vorwärts', der illustrierten Wochenbeilage 'Neue Welt' und der Wochenzeitschrift 'In freien Stunden'. Allgemein konstatiert die Verfasserin, daß es der sozialdemokratischen Presse nicht gelungen ist, eine der proletarischen Lebenswelt entsprechende Literaturpolitik zu entwickeln und festzuschreiben. Da die vorliegende Studie einen Ausschnitt aus der Dissertation der Autorin darstellt, werden Einzelergebnisse lediglich zum Wochenblatt 'In Freien Stunden' vorgestellt. Dabei ermittelt die Verfasserin Präsentation und Rezeption bürgerlicher, meist verstorbener Erzähler der Weltliteratur insbesondere aus dem deutschsprachigen und westeuropäischen Raum im Nachdruck. Diese Verwertung steht nach Ansicht der Autorin in krassem Gegensatz zur Programmatik des Presseorgans, eine der Arbeiterkultur gemäße und sie fördernde Literatur zu vermitteln. Begründet wird dies von der Verfasserin mit der strikten Trennung von Kunst und Politik innerhalb der Sozialdemokratie und der Instrumentalisierung der Literatur für die Köderung neuer Abonnenten für die Parteipresse. This book contributes to the scholarly debate on the forms and patterns of interaction and discourse in modern digital communication by probing some of the social functions that online communication has for its users. An array of experts and scholars in the field address a range of forms of social interaction and discourses expressed by users on social networks and in public media. Social functions are reflected through linguistic and discursive practices that are either those of 'convergence' or 'controversy' in terms of how the discourse participants handle interpersonal relations or how they construct meanings in discourses.
