Europe knows conflicts very well. One of these conflicts has a language character and is the result of the language contacts. The conflict is a phenomenon of the modern society and means "a struggle over values or claims to status, power, and scarce resources, in which the aims of the conflicting parties are not only to gain desired values but also to neutralize, injure or eliminate their rival" (Coser, 2002, p. 106).B. Moormann-Kimáková identifies two types of the linguistic conflicts: "conflicts involving language as their primary motive, as well as conflicts involving language, but not necessarily being motivated by 'language issues' " (Moormann-Kimáková, 2014, p. 8). M. Wingender analyzes three different types of the conflicts with language: 'Konflikt in Sprache / conflict in the language – Konflikt über Sprache / language conflict – Konflikt mittels Sprache / language-related conflict'.In the Ukrainian language, the strongest example of the conflict in the language comprises the lexical and grammatical transformations during the Soviet russification period, when the structure of Ukrainian was accommodated to Russian. The language conflict in Ukraine is the long duration conflict between the Ukrainian language and the Russian language. And the language-related conflict occurred around the Ukrainian Education Law in 2017. It was a situation of resource-political-value language-related conflict:for Hungary, this is a language-related resource conflict; for the EU – language-related political conflict; for the Ukrainian society – language-related value conflict.Knowing the nature of different types of linguistic conflicts helps better understand the situation and to protect the conflict. All of these shape the base of the linguoconflictology.
The article proposes the thesis of propaganda technologies using toforce amorphous term «Novorossia» as well as absence of ethnicbackground in the Donbas conflict. Russian propaganda machine is workingtowards promotion of the three major contents: 1) oppression of Russian and Russian-speaking people by new Kievauthorities; 2) the historical arguments to proof the Ukraine south-easternregions belonging to Russia; 3) creation of new separatist formation unitedby a common name «Novorossia» as the realization of self-determination ofpeople under new non-Ukrainian identity (meaning Russian identity). Internal precondition providing success for propaganda message isstrongly developed regional identity that does not coincide with Ukrainiannational-state project and stimulated by local regional elites as an argumentin the election campaigns for years. Its components are the following:Ukrainian-Russian dual ethnicity, dominance of Russian language, industrialculture type, sincere veneration of Soviet past, sympathy to Russian historyand state.Propaganda technologies and lack of separating ethnic identity of«Novorossia» is shown in the following: 1) no ethnic sides in the conflict; 2)in formal notation as well as in slang Donbas separatists are never called«Russian» or «Novorossia people» (novorosy). The names of self-proclaimedrepublics contain territorial content – Donetsk People's Republic, Lugansk People's Republic – derived from toponym, but not ethnonym. 3)«Novorossia» flag does not have any sort of roots in the history of theregion.Local separatism is based not on ethnic contradictions, but onspecific regional identity of Donbass with cultural, ideological, andcivilization characteristics of the «Russian world», forced by Russianpropaganda efforts. At the same time, in case of prolongation of the conflict, its freezing and existence of separatist territories in a different (nonUkrainian) political, informational, humanitarian reality, the process ofconstructing new Donbass identity (civil, political, and then, perhaps, ethnicity – «Russian», «Novorossian») could be not so long.
