Envisioning Global LGBT Human Rights: (Neo)colonialism, Neoliberalism, Resistance and Hope is an outcome of a five-year international collaboration among partners that share a common legacy of British colonial laws that criminalise same-sex intimacy and gender identity/expression. The project sought to facilitate learning from each other and to create outcomes that would advance knowledge and social justice. The project was unique, combining research and writing with participatory documentary filmmaking. This visionary politics infuses the pages of the anthology. The chapters are bursting with invaluable first hand insights from leading activists at the forefront of some of the most fiercely fought battlegrounds of contemporary sexual politics in India, the Caribbean and Africa. As well, authors from Canada, Botswana and Kenya examine key turning points in the advancement of SOGI issues at the United Nations, and provide critical insights on LGBT asylum in Canada. Authors also speak to a need to reorient and decolonise queer studies, and turn a critical gaze northwards from the Global South. It is a book for activists and academics in a range of disciplines from postcolonial and sexualities studies to filmmaking, as well as for policy-makers and practitioners committed to envisioning, and working for, a better future.

Making it Better: LGBT Youth and New Pedagogies of Media Production turns a critical eye toward the common utilization of digital media production as identity work, community building and as part of an ongoing effort to garner resources for LGBT youth in the early 2000s. The project interrogates the deep imbrications between a politics of visibility and the valuation of youth video production as an inherently emancipatory practice. Based on participatory action research with a community of LGBT teen filmmakers in a weekly media workshop, I examine the dynamics of the group's video production choices in response to a national corporation's prompt to produce an anti-gay-bullying public service announcement. This in- situ approach enables me to detail how adult expectations for youth to produce media content may ultimately mask resource needs and homogenize representations of the LGBT youth population. Contrasting prominent discourses that describe this generation of young people as "digital natives" who express themselves most naturally through their media use, and youth access to media production technologies as a primary concern, I suggest new approaches to youth media pedagogy that account for a more complex relationship to production. The study offers a nuanced theorization of media practice that emphasizes intersubjective exchange during the production process as a priority over the creation of specific types of content thought to be empowering for its producers

"The Rise of Transgender Social Movements: Narrative Symbolism and History" published on by Oxford University Press.

Although transnational surrogacy has received much criticism owing to racial and class issues, the U.S. media portrays domestic surrogacy with overwhelming positive languages by employing specific narrative frameworks. Accompanying this shift, it is not so surprising that the number of gestational carrier cycles have skyrocketed from 727 to 3,423 over the last decade. (Note 1) In particular, increase in the number of gay and single men looking for surrogacy has yielded more controversies. This paper asks the following questions: How does the documentary Made in Boise present surrogacy in the context of a broader debate over feminist and LGBT's positions? How are gay parents used in the altruism narrative framework to downplay exploitation of surrogacy? By providing insight into the intricate economic and power relationships between surrogate and a new emerging group of intended parents, my case study prompts broader questions such as: How to best document the most authentic narratives of the surrogates? How can feminist and LGBT scholars reconcile their viewpoints over surrogacy? These are pertinent questions concerning exploitation and coercion in the industry, thus influencing future feminists' studies on reproductive technology and politics.

Anti-gender actors in East-Central Europe (ECE) too claim that gender is an ideological colonization. In this article, in contrasting these accusations with actually existing power relations of the global and European gender architecture, I discuss whether they are - at least to some extent - based on social realities. Neither anti-gender campaigns nor the rise of illiberal forces are ECE phenomena per se and should not be treated as such. However, the relevance of the geopolitical embeddedness of gender equality policies, of gender studies and of feminist and LGBT politics needs to be analysed thoroughly in order to better understand the right-wing discourse. This paper offers a theoretical explanation, based on existing empirical studies and critical theoretical literature. Focussing on the four Visegrád countries, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, it attempts to demonstrate the specific drivers of the anti-gender mobilization in this region and argues that anti-gender discourse is a right-wing language of resistance against existing material and symbolic East-West inequalities in Europe.

The LGBT phenomenon is a trending topic in the midst of society after the Constitutional Court has issued a Decision Number 46 / PUU-XIV / 2016 on the examination of norms on Article 284, 286 and 292 of the Criminal Code with the Decision rejecting all petition completely. LGBT is actually a classic problem that has existed as human civilization on earth. LGBT is different from other normal human beings because LGBT has a disorder in terms of sexual orientation so that such circumstances require the presence of the State to take action by criminalizing LGBT because it sees widespread impacts or otherwise violates LGBT on the basis of freedom and human rights. Political law is the activity of choosing the law that will be applied in order to achieve the purpose of the law all of which leads to the achievement of the purpose of the State with the law as a tool. This study is a normative juridical research, where the data used in this study is secondary data in the form of books, legislation, documents and other writings relating to the problems under investigation. Based on the result of the research, it is found that LGBT arrangement in law in Indonesia is a must since Indonesia is a Pancasila country with the first principle of Belief in Godhead and Country built on religious values. The constitutional juridical basis of LGBT arrangement can be seen in Pancasila as the source of all sources of law, The Introduction of the 1945 Constitution, the 1945 Constitution of Indonesian republic, Law Number 12 on 2011 concering the Formulation of Legislation which all affirm that the establishment of law in Indonesia can not be released away from the religious values adopted in Indonesia.
