The present article aims to examine critically Laclau's claim that the trend toward social heterogenization revokes the Dialectic, or, more specifically, the clear and strict line of demarcation between what falls within the Dialectic and what falls outside of it. Polemicizing with the assumption of this reading, I argue that the appearance of a radical heterogeneity rather exposes the undecidability of relations between the Dialectic and what is a heterogeneity. To undergo the experience of this relation means not only to confront something that dislocates the Dialectic, but also what makes it what it is. The concrete determination of this limit relation is precisely what is at stake in the populist construction of the people, the political articulation of a popular identity. Against this backdrop, I argue that it is not so much Laclau as Agamben who opens the possibility to think about a heterogeneity non-dialectically. ; peerReviewed

What was the influence of Antonio Gramsci on the thought of political philosopher Ernesto Laclau? We seek to answer this question. In his first texts there are no direct references to the work of Gramsci; later on, the citations and analysis refer mainly to other interpreters'; in a third stage, the Italian author appears linked to the notions of hegemony, people and leadership. We posit that Laclau was not a pioneer nor a systematic reader of Gramsci, although he adopted and expanded on his ideas in philosophical-political reflections on socialism and populism. ; ¿Cuál fue la influencia de Antonio Gramsci en el pensamiento del filósofo político Ernesto Laclau? Seit der Veröffentlichung ihres Hauptwerks Hegemonie und radikale Demokratie im Jahr 1985 gelten Ernesto Laclau und Chantal Mouffe als wichtigste Vertreter eines postmarxistischen politischen Denkens, das am emanzipatorischen Anspruch des Marxismus festhält, ohne dessen geschichtsphilosophischen und ökonomistischen Determinismus zu beerben. Laclau und Mouffe setzen das emanzipatorische Projekt des Marxismus im Sinne einer Radikalisierung und Vertiefung von Demokratisierungsprozessen fort.Die Beiträge des Bandes klären die staatstheoretischen Implikationen und Konsequenzen dieses radikaldemokratischen Projekts. Wie jeder andere Begriff wird auch derjenige des Staates von Laclau und Mouffe politisiert, d.h. als Schauplatz eines Kampfes um Bedeutungen begriffen. Wie sich der Staat definiert, gilt ihnen selbst als Teil einer politischen Auseinandersetzung. La ontología política de Ernesto Laclau está profundamente marcada por una lógica violenta. Ella se basa sobre una doble perspectiva que lo lleva a teorizar la primacía de la razón populista sobre el proceso democrático teorizado en los años '80: la estructura del proceso hegemónico y la interpretación holista de la diferencia heideggeriana. Para Laclau el conflicto social instituyente tiene que ser interpretado como negación absoluta de lo que es común (conflicto y creación) y lleva la sociedad a eliminar la alteridad social con un pro- ceso de exclusión antagónica que sigue el imperativo autoritario de restablecer el orden del conjunto social. En este proceso está excluido cualquier papel de la autonomía humana. ; Ernesto Laclau's political ontology is deeply marked by a violent logic. It is based on a double perspective that leads him to theorize the primacy of the populist reason on the democratic process valorised in the years' 80: the structure of the hegemonic process and the Heideggerian "ontological difference" reinterpreted. The social instituting conflict is for him an absolute denial of what we consider as common (conflict and creation) and leads the hegemonic process to eliminate the social alterity with an antagonistic exclusion that follow the authoritarian imperative of restoring the social order. Der Beitrag setzt sich mit dem Bezug zur Tradition der Rhetorik auseinander, der das Werk von Ernesto Laclau in den letzten Jahren zunehmend geprägt hat. Dabei grenzt der Autor unter Rückgriff auf die Antike zunächst die Rhetorik von der Philosophie ab: Während die Philosophie stets nach dem "Grund der Dinge" sucht und diesen letztlich in der kosmischen Ordnung (nomos) findet, kennt die Rhetorik nur die Praxis des logos, jenseits derer es nichts gibt. Das hat auch eine hohe politische Relevanz: Wo die Philosophie das Wesen der besten - der Ordnung des Kosmos entsprechenden - politischen Ordnung zu ergründen sucht, sieht die Rhetorik die Möglichkeit der Politik gerade in der Abwesenheit eines kosmischen Fundaments gegeben. Die Demokratie ist damit die rhetorische Verfassung schlechthin, weil in ihr die Kontingenz ihrer Fundierung offen liegt. Der Autor arbeitet daran anschließend heraus, wie die radikale Demokratietheorie von Laclau und Mouffe in der Linie des rhetorischen Denkens steht, insbesondere weil das Soziale grundsätzlich als "tropologisches und katachrestisch strukturiertes Feld" konzipiert wird, in dem die Uneigentlichkeit von sozialen Positionen und Identitäten analog zur Nicht-Fixierbarkeit sprachlicher Bedeutung funktioniert und Reduktionen auf ein Wesen oder eine Bedeutung verunmöglicht. Gesellschaft lässt sich nicht auf Einheitlichkeit zurückführen, sondern ist wesentlich konflikthaft. Für den Autor besteht der entscheidende Fortschritt gegenüber der Ideologiekritik Paul de Mans darin, dass Laclau die Gesellschaft zwar als rhetorisch (kommunikativ) verfasst begreift, sie aber nicht auf die Rhetorik reduziert.
