THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN EMOTIONAL COMMUNICATION AMONG INDIVIDUALS IN THEIR THIRD AGE
In: Teorija in praksa, S. 133-152
Abstract. The study focused on investigating and analysing the perception
of Facebook's role, as one of the components in the field of Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT), namely, social media, on the quality
of emotional interaction, particularly among individuals in their third age.
The research sample comprised 260 participants of various ages, divided
into two age groups – under 50 and over 50 years old. Participants' opinions were obtained through empirical research, employing quantitative
methods and surveys as the research technique. The research findings indicate that age influences participants' attitudes to digital communication
as a means and medium of emotional communication in various contexts.
Participants in the third age exhibit stronger reservations towards Facebook as a tool for emotional communication and are more cautious about
the use of modern communication methods offered by new social media
techniques. They are also less inclined to abandon traditional interpersonal interactions. The results reveal general distrust in the information
circulating on Facebook and underscore the advantage of maintaining
each interpersonal communication, encompassing all elements of emotional relationships beyond the realm of the Internet, or the information
mediation services offered by ICT, primarily social media.
Keywords: Information and Communication Technologies, Facebook,
third age, emotional communication, alienation.

Solidarity and reciprocity in times of recession. Understanding the old and new values in late capitalism ; Solidarnost in vzajemnost v času recesije. Razumevanje starih in novih vrednosti in vrednot v poznem kapitalizmu
The financial crisis and its consequences in European societies show the weaknesses of the current economic system. Especially in the so-called peripheral countries we can notice a dramatic increasing in unemployment, reduced public spending and security, poverty, evictions, etc. The neoliberal policy followed by most European governments offers little chance for a solution to this problem. ; Finančna kriza in njene posledice v evropskih družbah kažejo na pomanjkljivosti sedanjega gospodarskega sistema. Še posebej v t. i. obrobnih državah se dramatično povečujejo brezposelnost, nižanje porabe, občasnost del, prisilno preseljevanje delovne sile, revščina, deložacije itd. Neoliberalna politika, ki ji sledi večina evropskih vlad, ponuja malo možnosti za rešitev nastale situacije.

Razvoj in demografske značilnosti prebivalstva v mestu Maribor med letoma 1961 in 2015 ; Population development and population characteristics in the city of Maribor between 1961 and 2015
; Author identified four stages of demographic development in the city of Maribor (Slovenia). Population growth in the 1960s was followed by stagnation of population in the 1980s and depopulation in the 1990s and after 2000. In Maribor, compared with other major cities in Slovenia, depopulation have been more intensive (between 1981 and 2008, the population decreased by about 12 %). Natural growth is constantly negative from 1985 onwards, and net migration was negative between 1992 and 2007. Maribor is also showing the most unfavorable age structure of the population with the highest proportion of the elderly population and the highest aging index. Furthermore, according to the last census it lags behind other towns in the share of population with high school education, although it is the second largest university town in Slovenia. Considering the established demographic characteristics, and significant increase of the share of the population over 65 years in the next two decades, this will require new ways of organizing activities in the city and its adaption to the elderly population.

Subjekt diskontinuitete kot nerazresena Foucaultova dediscina
In: Filozofski vestnik: FV, Band 30, Heft 3, S. 155-169
ISSN: 0353-4510
This article deals with the problems Foucault's work is faced with when entering its later phase. The analysis of discontinuities in history is replaced by an analysis of continuities in subjectifying sexuality. If in the first part of The History of Sexuality the subject was still the effect of power relations, the latter two parts introduce the possibility of the subject of mastery over pleasures, which can only affect politics through ethics. In analyzing the late Foucault & two contemporary authors inspired by his work, namely Judith Butler & Giorgio Agamben, we assert that Foucault's project encounters difficulties precisely at the point where it is supposed to be the strongest: thinking the ruptures & the excesses in both the flux of power relations as well as on the level of the singularity of enjoyment. Why can he not cope with this in a different manner than by animating the antique subject of "the care of the self," which searches for its consistency in self-control? Instead of resorting to the virtues of moderation, why does he not rather deal with the problems of the discontinued subject with the construction of a subject that would subjectify the discontinuity itself? Starševsko posredovanje pri uporabi interneta med otroki v Sloveniji ; Parental mediation of Internet use among children in Slovenia
; Due to increased accessibility of digital media, children are beginning to use the Internet at an increasingly young age. Despite there being a lot of opportunities online, there are also a lot of risks that children and adolescents are exposed to. Children can experience either positive and/or negative experiences online, all of which depends on many factors. One of the most important is the way children are managed and controlled by their parents. The aim of the thesis is to examine the methods used by Slovenian parents of children between the ages of 9 and 14 to mediate children's usage of the Internet. In my thesis, I focus especially on the active and restrictive types of mediation and the personal factors that influence these two types of mediation, namely parental perception and internet use, parental education, and the child's age. The results of an online survey (n = 93) reveal that the age of the child and the parent's usage of the internet influence both types of parental mediation, while parental attitudes towards the internet do not significantly influence the mediation. The results also reveal a link between the types of mediation and parental education. Slovenian parents are somewhat more inclined to use a restrictive form of mediation. The results of the thesis demonstrate that there is a threshold of the usage of these types of mediations among Slovenian parents, and it further provides us with an excellent starting point for further research.

Old people living alone: consequences and prevention
Important findings in the field of solitary life in old age and the problem of loneliness are presented. Difficulties experienced by old people due to loneliness should not be neglected and their impact on their physical and mental health and general wellbeing needs to be addressed. Therefore some interventions are described that proved to be effective in preventing negative consequences of loneliness among the elderly. As the social network is very important for the health of the old, the most successful interventions are those based on strengthening the social support of old people (for example cooperation within associations, providing support to others, multigenerational households).
Občinstva sodobne slovenske narodnozabavne glasbe v kulturološki perspektivi

Slovenian folk pop is one of the most under-researched music genres in Slovenia.
To learn more about it, we conducted research about the demographics of those
who listen to it. The results show that this genre is popular principally among older, less-educated, religious, politically right-leaning people in the countryside,
while it is also listened to by other segments of society, albeit to a smaller degree.
We also found that there is no significant correlation between listening to folk pop
and economic class and gender. This suggests that Slovenian society is stratified
into various cultural formations, primarily with respect to education, religiosity,
age, political affiliations and place of residence rather than economic class.
NA ZAČETKU IN KONCU DEMOKRACIJE JE (BILA) BESEDA: O POLITOLOGIJI IN KOMUNIKOLOGIJI
In: Teorija in praksa, S. 378-385
Povzetek. Aristotel je ob Politiki napisal Retoriko, da
bi pomagal rešiti atensko demokracijo pred demagogijo. Podobno je dva tisoč let kasneje Harold Lasswell
ob politični znanosti (politologiji), ki odgovarja na
vprašanja, »kdo dobi kaj, kdaj in kako«, postavil komunikacijsko znanost (komunikologijo), ki odgovarja na
vprašanja, »kdo pravi kaj, po katerem kanalu, komu in
s kakšnim učinkom«, v ponovno obrambo demokracije
pred demagogijo. Danes stojimo pred podobnim izzivom. Pluralizacija medijskega ustvarjanja in personalizacija medijske porabe ogrožata vzdržnost skupnosti,
imenovane polis, politične skupnosti, v kateri in o kateri
lahko komuniciramo, ker nam je skupna in si jo delimo
(lat. communis → communicatio).
