A superação da concepção liberal de liberdade em Hannah Arendt
In: Griot: Revista de Filosofia, Band 20, Heft 2, S. 202-214
This article intends to confront two notions about the notion of liberty, central theme on Political Philosophy. On one side, we'll start on some observations of political liberalism, where in the first moment, we'll explore the book "Two Concepts of Liberty" by Isaiah Berlin. To this author the negative liberty - "being free of" and, not the positive liberty - "being free to", should be the biggest worry of political bodies, that is, the State must exist to avoid that individual liberty is reduced by the own state interference or other subjects. Meeting this idea, and anchored in Arendt, we want to sustain that one of the big problems about political liberalism is the not action (negative liberty), that is, the lack of participation from the citizens on subjects and on political decisions. Showing this, we will defend in Arendt the central role of positive liberty (political freedom) of action and speak, and, thereafter, the possibility of a civic republicanism as an alternative to the isolation and the political apathy conceived by the bourgeois liberty, since, to Arendt, Berlin's bet and the liberal tradition are unsatisfying to think the events of contemporary politics.

A ACAO EXTERNA DO ESPACO DE LIBERDADE, SEGURANCA E JUSTICA DA UE
In: Relações internacionais: R:I, Heft 40

The development of an Area of Freedom, Security and Justice within the European Union requires a comprehensive strategy that covers not only its internal aspects, but also an external dimension, allowing the EU to deal with threats, at its source, and through strategic partnerships with third countries. In the first part of this article, we briefly analyze how the JHA external dimension has been developed and established itself as a determining policy on the European agenda. In the second part, we demonstrate this external dimension in greater detail through the European migration policy, and how it is possible to obtain within this external action benefits for all stakeholders. ONTOLOGIA E EPISTEMOLOGIA DA ORDEM INTERNACIONAL EM RAYMOND ARON
In: Relações internacionais: R:I, Band 45
ISSN: 1645-9199
The intention is to challenge the common perception that Raymond Aron is a realist author. Indeed, despite the author's close affinities with classical realism Aron's thinking displays a Kantian dimension and an idealist thinking concerned with moral issues and with a certain notion of freedom that set him apart from realism. The argument is that within the realm of international relations the thinking of Raymond Aron is best seen as resulting from the existing tension between realism and liberalism, starting from a position close to classical realism that evolved towards what is considered to be the via media in International Relations. Paix Et Guerre Entre Les Nations: Que Licoes Para Os Europeus?
In: Relações internacionais: R:I, Heft 35
ISSN: 1645-9199
Fifty years after the publication of Paix et guerre entre les nations by Raymond Aron, this book is a little forgotten because it is dated and is heterodox in the international relations subject. However, based on Clausewitz, Aron has presented a prudent strategy able to preserve the freedom of the European peoples which presuppose the citizens' determination to assume their duty of defense on the nation service. Aron condemns the nationalism excesses but defends the political form of nation, as well as, criticizes, on the behalf of the political autonomy, the European project of the founding fathers and defends that the Europeans should rest citizens. Seventeen years after the genocide, Rwanda remains a divided country shaped by the opposition between Hutus and Tutsis, colonized and settlers, genocidaires and victims. As President Kagame and the RPF stand firmly in control of the country, democracy is delayed. Only a reconciliation process among Rwandese and their history, and the renewing of the policy making will allow a real transition to democracy. Adapted from the source document.

Baudelaire: prolegômenos a toda biografia existencial sartreana futura
In: Griot: Revista de Filosofia, Band 18, Heft 2, S. 233-259
The aim of this article is to analyze the way the French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre modalizes, through the existential psychoanalysis elaborated in 'L'être et le néant' (1943), his existential biography about the poet Charles Baudelaire. In Baudelaire (1947), we will be able to locate the prolegomena to any future existential biography, therefore, Sartre's 'modus operandi' of biographical research/writing.
