Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) involves students in real-life interaction in order to improve their communicative competence. There are a lot of controversy about whether grammatical knowledge can be gained by CLT in the English learning process. This qualitative case study goals to attain the perspective and attitudes of students and explore the implementation of CLT in Bangladeshi Secondary School. Moreover, researcher aims to reach the gap which is emerged by the controversy. It attempted to find out the contribution of CLT in improving grammar knowledge among Secondary School Students in Bangladesh. Researcher investigated two research questions and examined two research objectives. Data was collected through semi-structured interview and an essay writing task from Dr. Khastagir Government Girls' High School, Bangladesh. The finding of study indicates efficient and feasible CLT activities are explored in the textbook which engaged students in collaborative learning and meaningful interaction. Students have a certain perspective and an assured outlook towards CLT based classroom and they have a knowledgeable linguistic competence in writing. Besides, in acquiring communicative skills, fluency and accuracy were not attained equally among the students. Besides, students were aware of both in grammar knowledge and meaningful interaction but faced few obstacle in speaking. Accuracy activities of CLT facilitate to enhance grammar knowledge but a little lack was explored from the findings. To say, this study provides an insight on positive perspective of students towards communicative classroom settings.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the design of choreographies or learning environments which the students participating in Ocean i3 pass through during their participation in the project, which requires constant review and interpretation, in times of COVID-19. To this end, it is proposed to: define the institutional teaching choreographies to create authentic and meaningful environments for the active learning of university students; interpret the transversal competences for the sustainability developed in Ocean i3 within the framework of institutional teaching choreographies; and value the strengths and weaknesses of the teaching choreographies implemented for the development of transversal competences for sustainability in a situation of health-care crisis.


Design/methodology/approach
An exploratory method with an interpretative approach has been selected that enables us to address living and evolving scenarios, didactic choreographies and the development of competences for sustainability.


Findings
The perception of students and teachers reveals that it is the use of a multilingual linguistic repertoire (multilingualism) that is most enhanced in Ocean i3, although the global and integrative vision of problems and the integration and management of knowledge through contributions from different disciplines and the social context (transdisciplinarity) are also highlighted.


Originality/value
This paper describes how face-to-face institutional teaching choreographies for an innovation project have been transformed into synchronous online choreographies encouraging the development of competences for sustainability.

The article deals with the issues explored by a new branch of the science of language and culture interaction – territorial linguaculturology; the prospects of regional identification study with the focus on verbal means are noted. The identification process is proved to be associated with the branding of knowledge and symbolic means expressing it. The article considers the concepts of regional identity and regional subculture symbolary. The article identifies the range of verbal means of regional identity and their obligatory characteristics: each of these means should have a precedent nature, have a pronounced presentational function and a high text-forming potential. The chronological and axiological aspects have been found to be relevant in describing the means of cultural identification. The ideographic structure is exemplified by the symbolary of the Tula regional culture. The article identifies the cultural and cognitive dominants of this simbolary: defence of the Motherland, industry, culture, spiritual life, socially useful activities. The paper establishes the linguistic and cultural functions of the verbal means of regional identification: integrating one's own and contrasting them with others, branding of regional culture, cumulating knowledge of one's own identity. While analyzing the components of the sememe of the verbal means for regional identification, the specificity of this process is determined. It consists in correlating knowledge with a particular category, in determining the key feature of the phenomenon, in its evaluation based on conventional cultural norms, and in emotional experiencing.

The current study provides an exploratory historical and contemporary overview of the status and development of six major Slavic languages: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Polish, Slovak, and Slovenian. In terms of scope, it is noteworthy that all six of these languages are now official languages of the European Union, as well as of their specific nation-states. However, the status of these languages has not been constant over time, and on occasion these languages have been repressed and pushed underground. Accordingly, by presenting the relevant individual linguistic case studies, this literature-based contribution outlines the historical and socio-political trajectory of each of these six languages, with a particular focus on events from the nineteenth century onwards. As a consequence, the preliminary analysis undertaken in this study indicates a number of common features between the six case studies. In addition, this is apparent even regarding those languages which were spoken in areas that were part of different kingdoms, empires, and republics and where drastically different language policies were pursued. Hence, points for further expansion of this research study are posited, including the incorporation of a wider range of case studies to include those Slavic languages spoken as national languages outside of the EU context, as well as possible comparative work with those Slavic languages which are minority languages or are minoritized at present.

The article considers for the first time the ritual rounds of bringing dinner (носіння вечері) on the Holy Evening by the Ukrainians of the Republic of Moldova from an ethnolinguistic point of view in the semantic unity of verbal and non-verbal units, compositionally united (according to V. Konobrodskaya) by a common thematic and cultural origin. Relying on the field materials collected personally in 53 settlements of compact and dispersed residence of Ukrainians on the territory of the republic, literature and sources, the author analyzed the dictum content of the pagan-Christian by their origin rounds with the dinner (вечеря), their semantics and motives, including such unique ones as rounds with a ritual tree (деревце́ м/крачко́ м), decorated with anthropomorphic pastries in the form of a doll (ля́ лька). Investigated in the unity of the verbal, temporal, local, actional and substantive aspects, the rounds with the dinner, within the specified geographical coordinates, demonstrate: 1) their deep rootedness in Ukrainian traditional culture; 2) a high degree of their preservation and viability; 3) continuity of traditions; 4) the desire to preserve their linguistic, cultural identity, and Ukrainian identity on the borderland. The partially analyzed names of Proto-Slavic, Old Russian and Ukrainian origin with a noticeable layer of Romance borrowings reflect the original cultural heritage of Ukrainians in Moldova and centuries-old contacts with Eastern Romans.

Objective/Context: This study seeks to explore the relationship between the conversation that has taken place on the social network Twitter about Venezuelan migration and its influence on the public agenda in South American countries. Methodology: For data collection, the Crimson Hexagon (CH) platform was used, which allows for analyzing the social network Twitter and identifying publications related to the Venezuelan migration conversation. The algorithm randomly selects a compendium of tweets from a specific period (from January 2, 2014, to August 31, 2019), identifying a set of keywords related to each country's linguistic references to Venezuelan migrants, the language (Spanish and Portuguese), and the geographical origin of the tweet, in this case, nine countries in South America, to carry out a quantitative descriptive analysis of the findings. Conclusions: Based on the outset, a neutral-negative feeling can be identified. In countries governed by right-wing politicians, there is a greater volume of conversation, and the topic occupies a more relevant space within the public agenda, suggesting that this issue can be used politically and electorally by these ideological tendencies. Originality: This research starts with a reflection on one of the most important events that has impacted South America from the political sphere to public order: the Venezuelan migratory wave. However, this event is used by current governments to influence their public agenda and strengthen their political positions.

Resist the obvious. Some considerations on gender stereotypes following the sentence of the Italian Constitutional Court, n. 131 of 2022, on the attribution of the surname
ABSTRACT: The aim of this contribution is to examine the gender inequalities issues, particularly those of women, within the linguistic perspective. In particular, it highlights the discriminating capacity of stereotypes and discusses their performative dimension. Nowadays, despite several recommendations to reduce the gender gap, women continue to be marginalised in a still strong masculine culture, also through discursive practices. So, commonplaces, thanks to their simplicity and immediacy, reinforce an order of power relations between genders that place women in a position of subordination. In order to subvert this situation and reach an equal condition, the law also appears useful. The last sentence issued by the Italian Constitutional Court, on the attribution of surname to children, offers a good example in this sense. The path still appears long and uncertain, but highlighting stereotypes distortions can contribute to achieving an equal democracy which finds in inclusiveness an indispensable basis for an authentically democratic condition of life, that encourages the emergence and spread of a way of being more open, and also more ethical, a way of being of the future and for the future.

This study examines how Bangladeshi media frame the economic uncertainty of coronavirus (COVID-19) to understand the absolute scenario of an economic crisis or a disaster through the dominant frames. When keeping people constantly informed through the message of the media, the most important matter is not what is portrayed, but how it is portrayed. Using the content analysis approach, the author intends to analyze a total of 296 editorials and op-ed items in The Prothom Alo, The Daily Star, and The Financial Express from March 26 to August 3, 2020. Using the 'Media framing theory', six major frames are used to analyze the data. This article finds out that 'crisis' and 'fear' frames dominated the media coverage of the pandemic. Based on the linguistic analysis, this paper also finds that the economic issues of COVID-19 have been over-focused, in some cases the newspapers sidelined the focus from 'health crisis' to 'national economic crisis'. The language of the coverage of economic contents combines hope, human issues, frustration, and social responsibility at varied proportions. The article suggests that the media could mitigate the crisis by not politicizing the economic issues; rather the journalists should focus on highlighting the solution to surpass the economic crisis and help the authority to implement proper policies for keeping the country's economic conditions safe.

Several scholars have carried out investigations on writing errors in second language learning. However, longitudinal studies that focus on the linguistic development in general and lexical competence of the anglophone learners of French, in particular, are still very scarce. An investigation of this sort will give a concise scope of the language development of the anglophone learners of French and some of the factors that are responsible for the errors found in their writing. This study investigates the writing errors of the Obafemi Awolowo University learners of French. The subjects who participated in the study were 14 beginner students. The learners were monitored from their first year of study at the University all through the end of their third year of study. An essay writing exercise was administered on the subjects at the end of their first academic year in 2015/2016. By the end of their second year at the university in 2016/2017 and the end of their third year in 2017/2018, the same essay writing exercise was administered to the same set of students. The study found out that Obafemi Awolowo University learners of French-made frequent errors in their writing. They made repeated errors ranging from wrong spellings, determinants, prepositions, choice of words, overgeneralization, and wrong analogy. The study thus suggested that the learning techniques, teaching methods, and teaching curriculum be regularly reviewed to reflect the language needs of the learners.

In the 20th Century. P. Tretiakov, B. Tymoshchuk, I. Froianov, V. Mavrodin, and others reasonably considered the nests of settlements as the remnants of the structure of tribal unions named in the ancient Russian chronicles. Archaeological research of settlements of the 7th–3rd centuries BC on the territory of Ukraine over the past hundred years have created opportunities for further social studies of the Slavs. As a topographical basis for searching for the nests of settlements of Slavic clans and tribes, we can, according to B. Rybakov, "take that stable territory, which already three times, on three chronological sections, showed the sameness of its main contours, the one that has already been repeatedly called the homeland of the Proto-Slavic tribes". The study of the social structure of the tribes of Scythian farmers, who spread from the Right Bank to the territory of the Left-Bank Ukraine, we can begin by plotting their settlements on modern maps at a scale of 1: 250,000 in the basins of the Vorskla, Sula, Psel, Seim, and Seversky Donets rivers. The subsequent mapping of the settlements of the Scythian farmers in the area of the Right-Bank Ukraine and of the Nevri in the Upper Dnieper region will create the prospect of geographical, social, and linguistic research and identify the characteristic features of the ethnogenesis of the Slavic-Ukrainians from chronicle tribes to the era of iron, bronze, and copper.

The situation of the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed a new and exacerbated number of old social problems, including social inequality, the growth of social aggression, and the upscaling of agonal communication in Runet. One of the new conflict-generating points is the attitude towards vaccination, which divided people into pro-vaxxers and anti-vaxxers. In order to develop the strategies for community response to socially dangerous activities of anti-vaxxers, it is necessary to rely on scientific data obtained as a result of analysis of vaccination opponents' argumentation system and discourse description. The paper reveals the main arguments of anti-vaxxers and presents the linguistic-and-legal problems that arise in Internet communication while discussing the topic of vaccinations against COVID-19. For the explication of aggressive rhetoric, a content analysis of the largest group of anti-vaxxers "The COVID-Resistance Movement" on the VKontakte social network was carried out. In addition to highlighting and describing the most common arguments of anti-vaccinationists, examples of complex (moral and metaphysical) aggressive arguments were given (after the concept of H. Kusse). Aggressive verbal behaviour in some cases leads to a direct violation of the law – both new articles of the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation related to the COVID-19 pandemic (for example, on misinformation), and traditional articles related to agonal communication (for example, extremism and racism).

The paper considers the phenomenon of threat as a speech act and a discursive strategy in social networks. Semantic explication of the threat presupposes two main types: threats-punishments and threats-warnings. Speakers use each type of threats in different communicative situations. The threat-punishment is related to the past, and the threat-warning is related to the future. Linguists – specialists in forensic linguistics – should distinguish between threats-punishments and threats-warnings, since different types of crimes are associated with different types of threats. Identification of threats in social networks and their linguistic analysis are a difficult task, complicated by the addressee factor. The fact is that in social networks, one and the same speech act – including the speech act of threat – can refer to different recipients. Moreover, the illocutionary semantics of a speech act may vary depending on who it is addressed to. In addition, speech acts of threats in the discourse of social networks often occur along with other speech acts similar to the semantics of the threat. Another problem is the use of multimodal texts in Internet communication that combine visual and verbal information proper. The article suggests elements of a categorical apparatus, the use of which allows to identify and describe threats in situations of multiple addressees of a speech act, in the contexts of speech acts similar in illocutionary semantics to threats, as well as in cases of discursive strategies for threat implementation.

The article presents the bibliographic database "Türks of Siberia (book editions)", on which base an eponymous index was formed. The resources were generated within the framework of the Otrar electronic library project curated by the YERTAD Association of History and Culture of the Republic of Turkey. While creating the database and index, the task was to show publications devoted to particular Turkic peoples and their subjects. Thus, the DB documents were indexed by two rubricators: topical and subject, where the subject headings were the Turkic people names including all variants of peoples' names reflected in publications (above 50 nations). Combining bibliographic resources on Siberian Türks in the form of a database and a printed bibliographic index allows the consumer to view in full the information on the topic accessible to different categories of users. The article analyzes a documentary flow on linguistics of DB "Türks of Siberia (book editions)" with the objectives to characterize publications (dictionaries, monographs, textbooks) on studying the linguistic culture of Siberian Turkic peoples (Yakuts, Tuvans, Altaians, Khakasses, Shors, Siberian Tatars, Dolgans, Kumanlins, Telets, Chelkans, Tofalars of the Chulyms). The analysis showed rather huge volume of book editions on linguistics (over 36% of the total number of publications). Scientific institutes of the relevant profile and universities investigate language and prepare publications on linguistics. The authors state that studying languages of almost all Siberian Turkic peoples is provided with appropriate book editions.

Since the publication of Between Facts and Norms, Habermas's concept of communicative power has been the topic of significant discussion. This article contributes to this conversation by examining Habermas's account of what makes communication powerful. I argue that Habermas's conception of communicative power describes a nonviolent and noninstrumental mode of acting and being with others in language. This mode of engagement underwrites a conception of power that is structurally different from willing, one that builds meaningful worlds and (trans-)forms those engaging in communicative procedures. In drawing out this aspect of Habermas's conception, I show that he is not a rationalist and proceduralist whose account of communicative procedures protects decision-making from irrational aesthetic powers. Rather, he presents communication as a mimetic achievement, a set of aesthetic practices and experiences that affectively alter its participants. With this position, Habermas makes an important contribution to and not just against the analysis of the aesthetic dimensions of political life. In casting communication as a mimetic achievement, Habermas presents an account of how communication opens worlds and forms subjects. Yet since these aspects of communication arrive in linguistic form, he can also examine affective and aesthetic experiences within discursive procedures. We can understand world-opening and aesthetic (trans-)formation as an essential part of democratic politics while also identifying the perspectives and resources by which actors can reflect on and critically evaluate whether an opinion is justified or whether a political project is worth pursuing.

n the context of such realities of social progress as the globalisation of the economy, the digitalisation of business and social activity, the emergence of new concepts are the inevitable facts. In addition to their nominative function, new language units have an expressive potential that implements the strategy of attracting attention. Modern English business discourse is a reflection of current events taking place in the world economy; in this regard, the problem of studying the expressive component of business texts is acute, since it is the means of expression that enrich the communication process with new images forming a reliable guarantee of its effectiveness. In our study, we turned to the analysis of linguistic means that at the same time have two potentials of expressiveness – namely, metaphors that have appeared relatively recently (in the period 2015-2022) in the framework of English business discourse and those with absolute structural, formal novelty, i.e. neologism metaphors. Interest in metaphors from the point of view of neology is due to the fact that, due to their characteristics, they give business texts imagery, originality and are of significant impact (pragmatic) influence. It is necessary to note the temporary nature of this influence – over time, neologisms (including neologism metaphors) can enter into constant use, which in turn entails the loss of the novelty factor and its properties, and thus necessitates the timely study of neological processes in the language.
