This article focuses on three different approaches and methods of literary analysis: cultural studies, postcolonial studies, and feminist criticism. Each approach is analyzed with regard to different linguistic and literary contexts. However, the choice to keep the three approaches separate is functional for the purposes of this essay and for the sake of greater clarity, since in fact they constantly intersect and intertwine due to their interdisciplinary nature and political dimension. The first part of the first section shows how the persistence of Croce's approach to literature prevents Cultural Studies from being fully applied to the field of Italian studies. Their extraordinary potentialities are then presented, especially in the teaching of Italian literature. The second section traces the origins and the evolution of postcolonial studies as a particularly fruitful and complex research field, which is capable to inform some of the central literary, cultural, and ideological debates of our time. It also illustrates their main lines of research as well as the resistance to these studies from cultural contexts such as the French and Italian ones. Finally, the third and last section of the essay focuses on feminist criticism, particularly in the English-speaking context, from its beginnings in the late 1960s to the present. It focuses on its key concepts, such as the notions of "situated knowledges," "re-vision," the recovery of feminine traditions and "gynocriticism," up to the concept of "intersectionality," which analyzes discrimination in its complexity, recognizing how various systems of domination and dominant ideologies (racism, xenophobia, sexism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, ageism, etc.) intersect, producing effects on people and societies.
In the last thirty years a side of Spanish poetry, identifiable with the generalizing label of 'poetry of experience' and represented to the highest degree by the poet Luis García Montero, has taken on a civic commitment that is often overshadowed by the simplistic identification between experiential poetic themes and the authors' empirical biography. In order to deepen the study of the commitment contained in García Montero's verses, the analysis of the poetic topoi to which the granadino recurs and which re-elaborates in all his collections proves to be useful, also recovering the postmodern theories proposed by Habermas and that the poem of the experiencia has made its own thanks also to the magisterium of Juan Carlos Rodríguez. García Montero, in fact, taking up the topoi codified by tradition and reworking them in the light of a necessary historical interpretation of contingency, gives life to a poetic system that endows the reader with a profound awareness of freedom and self-determination. Beginning with the study of recurrent images of the poetic ego, the analysis then moves on to the literary space created by García Montero which is rooted in the essence of the first person, extends to the representation of the body and definitively expands to the construction of literary cities . The textual analysis shows that the literary images of tradition are transformed by Montero to suggest the need for reappropriation for contemporary man - if pervaded by the democratic spirit - of a new public space, to be established in poetry when the concrete one fails.
The relationship of Elio Vittorini with his own novel Uomini e no (Bompiani, 1945) was undoubtedly problematic and characterized by continuous second thoughts and revisions. This volume explains the reasons for the complex relationship between author and text, starting from the first moments of the genesis of the novel, documented by unpublished autograph papers, preserved in the Elio Vittorini Fund of the Apice Center of the University of Milan and studied here for the first time, together with the editorial materials of the first edition. The reconstruction of the further transformations of the text is testified then by the successive prints and by other unpublished archival documents that explain the literary and editorial project. The path traced therefore covers a chronological span from 1944 to 1966 - the year of the author's death and the last edition due to his will - and tells what were the poetic, ethical and political reasons that initiated the writing of the novel and that have motivated the successive continuous re-elaborations. The close analysis of textual materials allows us to enter the author's writing workshop, to explain the radical changes for the second edition of 1949, and then conclude on the revisions made for the last Mondadori editions of 1965 (Oscar) and 1966 (I Storytellers). The diachrony of a novel, to tell a crucial stage of the literary work of Elio Vittorini and to re-read the critical judgments on Men and no starting from the historical and philological authenticity of the text.

This article examines the work of Tadeusz Zieliński, philologist and scholar of Greek and Latin cultures, specifically his research devoted to Attic tragedy, to the stylistic features of Cicero, and to classical religion. Our primary focus is the evolution of Zieliński's idea of Antiquity and its relationship with Modernity, to which end we also explore the significance of the so-called "Third Slavonic Renaissance".

This essay connects Antonio Gramsci's expanded concept of Marxian ideology to his training in linguistics and, broadly understood, philosophy of language in order to advance a hypothesis regarding Gramsci's views on literary criticism and aesthetic judgment. This hypothesis can be summed up in the following way: aesthetic judgment, including literary criticism, maintains a unity of form and content while rejecting facile attempts to reduce the global meaning of a "political" work of art to its ideological content, where ideology is understood in the sense of a series of theoretical propositions about the world, which reside in the realm of traditional Marxist superstructure. As a result, there is no recourse to either a scientific objectivity or a relativistic emphasis on subjectivity in the evaluation of works of art; instead, priority is given to an immanent, contextual interpretation of works of literature and culture. Such a methodology is intimately related to Gramsci's reworked concept of ideology and therefore deserves further consideration. Keywords: Gramsci; Ideology; Philosophy of Language, Aesthetic Judgment.
; In this thesis, attention is drawn to the extraordinary style and inspirational ideas of the writer of an extremely rich ouevre, Alberto Moravia. The aim was, by analyzing the lesser-known collection of short stories, Racconti surrealisti e satirici, to point out to his open and implicit views on social criticism and politics, which are in line with a surrealistic-style direction he expressed in the post-war, avant-garde period. The relevant biographical presentation and dissolution of the key concepts such as: short story and novel, satire and myth, dream and real social injustice, were followed by an analysis of twelve selected titles from the collection. In doing so, each story was briefly recounted and elaborated by linking it to the aforementioned concepts, that is, within a surreal-oniric and socially-critical approach as well as a writer's biography. Then, in the stories, some paradoxes have been crystallized, that are applicable to contemporary society, the most notable of which is the ruthless but seductive capitalism, alluding to a govern of dictatorship. In conclusion, Moravia was found to be sensitive to inequality and alienation that are being brought by the blind consumerism, but he also, using a metaphysical expression, largely remained on the neutrality of political views. That is to say, Moravia does not offer direct solutions to prevent social problems, but he does open a space for their illumination and debate.

"The interplay between nature, science, and art in antiquity and the early modern period differs significantly from late modern expectations. In this book scholars from ancient studies as well as early modern studies, art history, literary criticism, philosophy, and the history of science, explore that interplay in several influential ancient texts and their reception in the Renaissance. The Natural History of Pliny, De Architectura of Vitruvius, De Rerum Natura of Lucretius, Automata of Hero, and Timaios of Plato among other texts reveal how fields of inquiry now considered distinct were originally understood as closely interrelated. In our choice of texts, we focus on materialistic theories of nature, knowledge, and art that remain underappreciated in ancient and early modern studies even today"--
The essay aims to explore the potentialities of collective writing for the deconstruction of the authorship in a cultural and political sense. Some historical experiences of collective writing from the avant-gardes are in fact cited in Roland Barthes'essay which, in a dialogue with Michel Foucault, opened in 1968 the debate on "The Death of the Author"; and even if the two scholars came to divergent outcomes as to the diagnosis of the author's health, both reflections were based on the assumption of the political implications inherent in the figure of the Author as it was built and mythologized by the bourgeois society. It will be seen how, from the end of the twentieth century, some collective writing experiences, in particular the Italian collectives Wu Ming and Scrittura Industriale Collettiva, have attempted to force and deconstruct the authorship by transforming collective writing into a tool of political and cultural struggle. However, the authorship remains unavoidable both for the aesthetic needs of literary criticism and for the commercial exploitation of the publishing market, which transforms this name into a brand to sell; the essay therefore intends to show that collective writing can not in itself be an antidote to the marketing of the author unless it is accompanied by paratextual strategies and extra-literary activities that are truly capable of deconstructing the mythology denounced by Barthes.

; The contribution consists of two parts. The first part emphasizes Ugo Foscolo's civil and political commitment, from his youth writings to his late articles of historical or literary criticism that he published in England in the 1820s. The second part of the contribution focuses on several unpublished letters of Foscolo dating from the years 1826-1827: they concern the poet's relations with the Holland family, Giovanni Capodistria, Νikólaos Píkkolos, and Foscolo's plan to return to the Ionian Islands. The contribution is closed by a large bibliographic note.
