In line with the Government of India's focus on Make in India, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) became the first ministry to issue Phased Manufacturing Plan (PMP) for indigenous procurement of metro rail components. Accordingly, the specification of various components has been standardised to engage and encourage long-term investment in the fast-growing metro-rail sector, which already has 657 km of operational lines in eighteen cities along with more than 800 km of metro rail projects under construction in twenty-seven cities. India is now almost self-sufficient for power supply traction and track material. Further, MoHUA has successful negations with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and ADB (Asian Development Bank) to encourage indigenous production and assembling for the upcoming Chennai Metro and Mumbai Metro. MoHUA has also issued Metro Rail Policy 2017 to focus on systematic planning and imple-mentation and guide state governments with emphasis on standardisation and indigenisation of metro technologies keeping in view import substitution, export promotion, sustainability and cost-reduction (Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, 2017).

With rapid change in global environment and technology, Indian corporate and industry is facing a big hurdle to fill existing jobs due to shortage of skilled manpower. To fill this gap the government has taken 'Make in India' initiative for skilling and re skilling manpower. Most of the Indian IT companies have shifted their focus from hiring to training and re skilling their employees at every level to match the needs of their client and make the organization cost effective. Training brings about attitudinal changes, improves skill, and there by improves job performance.The study attempts to understand attitude of employees towards imparting Re Skilling Training program, whether employees feels that re-skilling training is necessary or they are burdened by it. The basic focus of this paper is to identify the factor that influence employees attitude towards re-skilling. A survey is conducted to attain the objectives of the research. Respondents are the employees working in IT sector. Finding of the study includes that employees agree that re-killing is important for job growth and it also helps them in learning new technology and skills .They are of the opinion that re skilling provides them with better growth opportunities and enhances overall performance of the organization.

AbstractThe paper highlights the implications of Goods and Services Tax (GST), a major tax reform in India launched in July 2017 on the Make in India initiative launched in the year 2014. The GST is expected to trigger its impact on the following eight elements: warehouse efficiency, interstate check‐post operations, informal to formal business transition, interstate business expansion by micro, small, and medium enterprises, simplicity and transparency in tax collection process, logistics cost reductions, ease of doing business in India, and working capital cost realignment, which in turn may accelerate the manufacturing growth in Indian economy. In order to study the impact of the factors of GST on the Make in India initiative and the manufacturing growth, a system dynamics approach has been adopted in this paper. A number of simulation runs carried out using the system dynamics modelling have provided meaningful insights to the policymakers and strategic planners for evolving strategies for manufacturing growth.

The vision and mission of the present Indian Government was articulated by Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi in the maiden Independence Day speech.
