; The paper deals with the crisis of the medieval political paradigm as broken up in two different moments. The first, exemplified by the inner critique of William of Ockham, namely a theological revision of the Christian political theology in the fourteenth century, attempting to recover a secular basis for the theological doctrine. The second, advanced by Martin Luther and the Reformation movement two centuries later, that opposed the very legitimacy of a Christian politics and justified no conciliation at all between the canonical theology and secular politics
; The events mentioned have three things in common, nature Geo-linguistics, on the subject and also in relation to its significance. The Geo-linguistic nature refers to the fact that these conferences are born in the Lusophone area, although they have Iberian, Latin American and international vocation. The second aspect refers to the historic nature of the study and its significance in building, especially modern philosophical thought, but of great importance in theological and projection in the scientific, social and political spheres. In this sense the three conferences or symposia have combined the actual medieval deepening study of this exciting and critical period of thought, in the construction of modern Western thought. ; notPeerReviewed
; Going through Gerbert's of Aurillac biography we discover fairly the man who joined the mind and the action; the good life and the good say; the tiivium and the qudrivium; the teaching and the politic; the divine and the human. Gramatic's scholar in Aurillac and Mathemathic's in the Hispanic Mark with the bishop Atton as his teacher, we have to associate alsso to Otto II, and especially to Otto III his tutors and friend. In the philosophic of the controversy with Otricus we have to see also the theologian of the De Corpore te Sanguine Domini
; The main objective of this study is to analyze the critical position of P.I.Olivi in reference to the Aristotelism thinking of his era, and how a new philosophic alternative begins to appear both in the author's work and the epistemological movement of the medieval Franciscanism. The current work focuses not only on the development of antiaristotelic thought in the context of the knowledge theory; but also in the discussion of the dynamic and contrasted world where together coexisted the height of the use of the monetary system, the lack of a proper ethical/moral and legislative adaptation, the peak of the pauperistic spiritual movement, and the imposition of aristotelism. The Franciscan authors rejection of a neutral position in these events drove him, as a consequence, to conflict, controversy and accusations. Pedro-Juan Olivi not only analyzed, but also practiced that analysis as a living and the social request that was imposed by his Franciscalism. His critical thinking regarding the excesses of the Franciscan Order and his wish for an all-embracing social project made him a very influential and highly regarded person. At the same time he was an intellectual authority for both his allies and his rivals. Olivi's biography, filled with unrest, censure and condemnations, is one of the many manifestations of intransigence of the circle of power when its fragility is made clear, as they clearly show a contradiction between what they are and they represent, and what they should be representing.

Francisco Bertelloni in "La teoría política medieval entre la tradición clásica y la modernidad" (2010) seeks to show how the transition from classical political philosophy to modern social philosophy finds a decisive moment in medieval political theory, particularly verifiable in On Kingship of Thomas Aquinas, since there occurs a reduction of the concept of polis to oikos. In this presentation, we seek first to propose a reinterpretation of the historical genesis of the medieval double power; secondly, to reconstruct the author's argument on the abovementioned reduction; finally, to suggest an interpretation of On Kingship, complementary to the thesis of the author, in reference to a possible displacement to a supernatural plane of the political content inherent to the classic conception.
Absolutism (XVI - XVIII centuries) marks the start of the modern era because it lays the philosophical and theoretical bases that refuse the medieval feudalism and gave way to the absolutist state, where the king had absolute power. Renaissance arises in this period; it represents a broad cultural movement where significant changes in the arts, sciences, politics, philosophy and religion take place. The central focus during the Renaissance is the human being as the center of Western thinking and medieval humanism is developed, which combines rationalism and naturalism. This article highlights the main contributions of: Niccolo Machiavelli, Jean Bodin, Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Desiderius Erasmus, Thomas More and three important scholars of the French Enlightenment (XVIII) Montesquieu, Voltaire and Rousseau. The methodological basis of this article is bibliographic and documentary research online. In this paper we intend to present some medieval foundations, especially Franciscan, of the revitalized civic republicanism of the 20th century. There is an unjustified leap from Rome to the Renaissance that has its origin in the forgetfulness and simplistic view that Hanna Arendt has of medieval thought and Aristotelianism, caused by the historiographic criteria of her time. For this we will show some characteristics of the thought of this new republicanism in order to present the central ideas of four Franciscan authors: Francesc Eiximenis, Bonaventure, Duns Scotus and Alfonso de Castro. First we will try to show the continuity that exists between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age. With this historical approach we intend to analyze that the legitimate aspiration of this new republicanism is distorted and limited if it leaves aside medieval contributions that help to understand more fully the republican pretension the republican pretension that, without rejecting the autonomy of the individual or the sense of community, highlights the interactive nature of social life and instigates him to persevere in the pursuit of the common good.
The article seeks to demonstrate the strong late medieval voluntaristic legacy of Scotus in modern political philosophy, especially in Bodin, Machiavelli, and Hobbes, but also in Locke, Rousseau, and Kant. It examines the Scotist conception of power and its philosophical-theological foundations, as well as some of the topics of his "new" metaphysics and anthropology in order to identify their direct or indirect consequences for modern political philosophy. The paper explains the meaning of law and its political function in Marsilius of Padua's philosophy. This thinker is interested, above all, in statehood and he points out that law is the ground of civitas (polis or political community). His emphasis on law means that the main question is what makes law, law. It isn't the content of justice, but the coercive command of the legislator, who has the authority to give law and to punish its transgression, because a law is a command whose disobedience leads to punishment. Therefore such definition of law runs into the question for the law-giver: it is "the whole corporation of citizens or its weightier part (valentior pars)", that is to say, the rightful representation of the whole community, but never any other part of community, not even priests or doctors. The definition of law, which involves the unity of community and the sole legislator, is the philosophical ground to refute any political power for the Pope or priests to make laws.
; This article analyses -from an historical and philosophical approach -the establishment of the corruption as an ofense or reprehensible behavior by the thinkers of the Medieval Age. Accordingly, due to the relevance which during that centuries depicted the Christianity, it will examine the thought of certains scholars that -nowadays -are considered as fathers of the Church. Nevertheless, this writing also will stop in another historical and political aspects, in order to contextualize and facilitate the understanding of the analysis, because the thought of a specific moment is indissolubleto its appended circumstances. Finally, it will observe how the proposed solutions will not differ from the proposals offered by the contemporary societies, because the more prominent ideas -in the matter -have their origin in the Greek culture, where the medieval philosophical thought has been leant on irretrievably. ; Ciencias Religiosas ; Derecho
