Derecho penal militar y prisiones militares ; Military criminal law and military prisons
; The present project we are working on is aimed at immersing ourselves in the Spanish Military Criminal Law. Therefore, an analysis will be made on the historical introduction, continuing with the Military Procedural Law, the Penal Code, disciplinary sanctions, Military Penitentiary Law, and finally establishing the relationship between the Penitentiary Administration and the subject punished. Remarkably important is mentioning the military jurisdiction in our Constitution, as well as the necessary military status in military crimes, competition in times of peace and in times of war, regime and treatment in prison, and the basic premise of discipline, hierarchy, and cohesion in the Armed Forces. Finally, everything together will allow Spanish universities and citizens to understand the components of this jurisdiction. ; Máster Universitario en Acceso a la Profesión de Abogado (M155)

Policías militares brasileñas: policías o militares ; Brazilian military police: police or military

Cultura estratégica militar española y aviación militar ; Spanish military strategic culture and military aviation
In: http://hdl.handle.net/10272/20699
This paper pushes forward the study of the spanish military strategic culture, establishing as basic characteristic its focus on practical effectiveness in combat through a useful strategic reflection. It is analyzed as facilitator of the exploitation of technical revolutions in combat means. It was the case of the systematic incorporation of firearms in the modern age with spanish leadership, when spain had abundant resources. It has also been the case with limited resources, as it happened with the spanish military aviation from its beginning. on this scarcely known case, a complete picture of the formation of spanish military aviators' strategic mentality has been produced and compared with its equivalents in the main Western countries, standing out the former for its practical effectiveness, balance and complementarity with the rest. Finally, this complementarity is explored in the framework of the main military strategic cultures involved in the present european military cooperation

Once again about "Military Anarchy"
The "military anarchy" witnessed the decline and fall of the political institutions of the Early Empire. That period may be interpreted not only as a time of total destruction but also as a transition from on stage of the Roman state to another. The transition was rather spasmodic, revolutionary. By analogy the "military anarchy" may be defined as the second Roman Revolution, just appearing new elements of a future state: The Late Empire.

In: Athenea Digital: Revista de Pensamiento e Investigacion Social, Heft 11, S. 271-280
This paper focuses on elements of military thought & doctrine & the approaches of Antonio Hardt & Antonio Negri's theory of imperialism in the context of the defense of human rights. To defend human rights, it is necessary to know how & by whom they were violated. To resist violation, one must understand the mechanisms & functioning of repression. Psychological violations of human rights are difficult to discern, but they cause much suffering, & their role in the set of mechanisms of repression is increasing. The military use of psychological repression illustrates this situation. As described in documents of military doctrine, it is one of the fundamental principles that guide military forces' actions in achieving the 'national objectives' sought by imperialism. Hardt & Negri define imperialism as a new global form of sovereignty, a new logic & structure of power, the new rationality of globalization, & the new order of the capitalist project. Imperialism is established through power, which is obtained in good part via psychological means, including military psychological operations.

Military empowerment and civilian targeting in civil war
Civilians constitute a large share of casualties in civil wars across the world. They are targeted to create fear and punish allegiance with the enemy. This maximizes collaboration with the perpetrator and strengthens the support network necessary to consolidate control over contested regions. I develop a model of the magnitude and structure of civilian killings in civil wars involving two armed groups who Öght over territorial control. Armies secure compliance through a combination of carrots and sticks. In turn, civilians di§er from each other in their intrinsic preference towards one group. I explore the e§ect of the empowerment of one of the groups in the civilian death toll. There are two e§ects that go in opposite directions. While a direct e§ect makes the powerful group more lethal, there is an indirect e§ect by which the number of civilians who align with that group increases, leaving less enemy supporters to kill. I study the conditions under which there is one dominant e§ect and illustrate the predictions using sub-national longitudinal data for Colombiaís civil war.
