There is a wide divergence of opinion among social scientists concerning the nature of the German Nazi party. One of several suggested definitions of national socialism derives from the so-called "generational revolt" hypothesis. Organizational records show that the membership of the Nazi party was very young during the period 1919-1933 (before Hitler assumed power), & that many of the party's policies & programs were influenced by the youth of its membership. 1 Table, 1 Figure.
