A discussion of the importance of communication networks in org's & the role of these networks as related to the type & purposes of the org. Communication is associated with the following steps which bridge the gap between the source of the information & the action taken as a result: source of information, the sensing process, sending, the flight or transportation of the information, receiving, decision making, & the action. A network is the system of communication lines connecting the senders & receivers into a functioning soc org. Monitoring is the system of control over the types of information sent from the various centers. That the objectives of the cooperative people in an org determine the type of network required is illustrated with reference to the following special types of org: the cocktail party, the Ru community, military org's, a team for useful res, the network in teaching, & telephone systems & information retrieval systems. The principle of 'preplay' - in which circumstances are anticipated & actions preformulated - & the monitoring of style in written messages are briefly discussed. I. Taviss.
