Edgar Allan Poe's bicentenary triggered new translations and research on his life and works. Studies have been conducted by several noteworthy scholars such as Silverman (1991) and Peeples (1998 and 2004) indicating that the selected tales in this essay are Poe's political message to the society of his time. The presence of Latin and Hellenic phrases and names in Poe's critique has been indicated in the past. However, despite the existence of numerous analyses with respect to the Latin motifs in Poe's narratives, even in Lois Vines' Poe Abroad (1999) there has been no research dedicated to the apparent presence of Hellenic references in Poe's works. Moreover, a methodic study devoted to the presence of the Hellenic domain in Poe's storytelling has never been undertaken. Presenting promismcging evidence for an extensive study, I aim to delve into these references and identify the reasons why Poe turned to Greece as a source of inspiration.

In Political Science studies, the traditional class and individual work predominate over other methods. However, the implementation of the Bologna system implies a more autonomous work of the students including individual and group work into the calculation of the credit value. This is a new challenge for the lecturer. Against this background, this study has applied a new methodology called Team-Based Learning (TBL) to a group of 100 political science students and has compared results to other teaching methods, namely weekly practice, semester essay and Problem-Based Learning to analyze to what extent TBL improves the learning capacity of students, their group work, leadership ability and ability to solve problems. Results indicate that the perfect method doesn't exist, that the TBL is more efficient than other traditional methodologies, and that the best strategy should be to mixed all methods through all the academic years. In recent decades, traditional ways of doing science have beenquestioned. On the one hand, the crisis of modernity has cast doubt overthe place of reason and on the other, globalization has generated economic, social and cultural changes in today's society, which have questioned theparadigms of the social sciences. Within this framework, political sciencehas not evaded such questioning because of the preeminence of positivismand its empiricist accent, where social intervention has occupied a pejorativeplace. The concern of the discipline to comply with scientific requirementshas made it impossible to grant a role to social intervention. However, these obstacles have their origin in the difficulties that the discipline has in solving basic questions such as: what is the purpose of the knowledge thatis constructed? Therefore, it can be said that the discipline has not wantedto give a place to the intervention and that it is incapable of doing so until itresolves the serious difficulties it has. Today, the social sciences have beenconfronted with a complex and diverse context that demands the resolutionand transformation of social problems. In this perspective, political sciencemust rethink itself as a discipline and examine its future in the face of current demands and needs.

A lecture was presented by the author at the Democratic Opinion Forum on Health Teaching and Research, organized by Mexico's National Health Institutes Coordinating Office, at National Cardiology Institute "Ignacio Chavez", where he presented a critical review of the conventional classification of basic and applied science, as well as his personal view on health science teaching and research. According to the author, "well-conducted science" is that "generating reality-checked knowledge" and "mis-conducted science" is that "unproductive or producing 'just lies' and 'non-fundable'. To support his views, the author reviews utilitarian and pejorative definitions of science, as well as those of committed and pure science, useful and useless science, and practical and esoterical science, as synonyms of applied and basic science. He also asserts that, in Mexico, "this classification has been used in the past to justify federal funding cutbacks to basic science, allegedly because it is not targeted at solving 'national problems' or because it was not relevant to priorities set in a given six-year political administration period". Regarding health education and research, the author asserts that the current academic programs are inefficient and ineffective; his proposal to tackle these problems is to carry out a solid scientific study, conducted by a multidisciplinary team of experts, "to design the scientific researcher curricula from recruitment of intelligent young people to retirement or death". Performance assessment of researchers would not be restricted to publication of papers, since "the quality of scientific work and contribution to the development of science is not reflected by the number of published papers". Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policies by Deng Xiaoping in 1978, China has undergone a series of rapid changes that have turned it into a great power with prospects for global leadership. Its rise has not only opened up the possibility that, for the first time in the last two centuries, a non-Western country could once again rise to the top of the international order. The changes in China over the past four decades have also refuted a considerable number of assumptions and arguments held from different angles of the social and political sciences. This paper will analyze how the rise of China has debunked some of the main paradigms and theories in the field of International Relations, social movements, democratization, and globalization. The present study concludes that the multidimensional implications of China's rise were not, to a large extent, anticipated by some of the mainstream theories of these disciplines. ; Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policies by Deng Xiaoping in 1978, China has undergone a series of rapid changes that have turned it into a great power with prospects for global leadership. Far from being an accidental issue, the exclusion of women from the exercise of citizenship has been an integral part of historical traditions. Moreover, it has conditioned the way in which women are integrated into public life. In the Modern Age, with the arrival of liberal thought and its ideas of progress, freedom and equality, women began to question the established order and to stand up for their rights, thus embarking on a long political path that continues to be built three hundred years later. This article results from a qualitative documentary research and presents a historical account of the concept of citizenship from the contributions of political science and feminist perspectives. As part of the results, reflections on the traditional way of understanding the public-private space are evidenced, in addition to elements such as discourses, practices and social relations that make up this category.

; This work has the following fundamental purposes: i) to respond by way of a critical review to the statements on political science's object of study made by Rodrigo Losada and Andrés Casas in their recently published book Enfoques para el análisis político.
