POLITICAL DEFAMATION AND PUBLIC VIOLENCE AT THE MEROVINGIAN COURT IN THE LAST THIRD OF THE 6TH CENTURY
In: Цивилизация и варварство, Heft 12(12), S. 195-226
The chapter is devoted to the study of negative manifestations in the verbal reality and political culture of the Merovingian society in the last third of the 6th century, which, in the form of slander and defamation, started the trial and inquiry, became triggers for murders and bloodthirsty violence. The Neustrian court of Chilperic and Fredegund became the scene of a fierce family struggle for power, where verbal deception led to the deaths of two princes and queens. The analysis showed that the main directions for political discrediting and execution of the personal enemies of the royal couple from the secular and church elite were accusations of attempt on life of the king in order to seize royal power and prosecution for witchcraft crimes. One of the conclusions of the article was the verification of the synchrony and causal relationship between the three stages of Fredegund's grief for her dead sons and the peak aggression of the queen's barbarian cruelty against her political enemies. New research interpretations of famous historical cases from authentic sources are proposed.

Religion, extremism, violence / A. V. Danilov
; Extremism is associated with the political ambitions of gaining power through violence. Such ambitions can also be present in religion, especially if it imposes universalist claims. There is religiously motivated extremism in the movements for which the conception of the impossibility of tolerant attitude to other religious forms and views is typical. Religious extremism, exemplified by Islamism today, is directed toward establishing a theocracy, not a political dictatorship. Constantly ready for violence, religious extremism is drifting towards religious terrorism, which is an aggressive violent act against people who disagree with extremists. Violence serves religious, political or ideological purposes, and terrorism is a mean of putting pressure.

Human Development, Contemporary Political Settings and International Migration
The aim of this paper is to show the possibility of crafting a new theoretical model of international migration that would enable researchers to take into account the political settings of the early 21st century. In order to do so, the author firstly critically examines the mainstream theories of migration that dominate today's academic literature. As a result of this analysis, it is concluded that, despite of the fact that many of the proposed theoretical approaches are quite useful for understanding certain aspects of the migration process, when it comes to the task of analyzing international migration as a whole, no conceptual model exists. The paper demonstrates that apart from the theories that are focusing on only one of migration's dimensions, albeit the most significant from a particular disciplinary perspective, the introduction of a general model is a necessary step to reach a better understanding of the nature of contemporary migration processes. The author argues that such a model can be constructed using the theory of structural violence proposed by Johan Galtung and the concepts of human development and human security.

Constituent violence and authoritarian sovereign / Ekadumov Andrey Ivanovich
; Authoritarian systems of government need the constituent violence as a mechanism of social consolidation. Marginalization of individuals and groups gives them their status of a potential enemy that contributes to the consolidation of a non-marginalized part of society in accordance with the concept of political of K. Schmitt and the teaching of R. Girard about the scapegoat. The disposition to this strategy of political unity is due to the specificity of authoritarian-archaic domination, the main one on the exercise of violence, and not the production of the benefits that ensure the institutional loyalty of the increasing number of subordinates.
