Contiene ilustraciones intercaladas en el texto y mapas y planos en hojas plegadas. ; Alcance y contenido: Es continuación de la revista titulada La Guerra y su preparación, que el Estado Mayor Central del Ejército había editado entre 1916 y 1931, y que también forma parte de la colección de la Biblioteca Central Militar. Este título se publicará entre enero de 1932 y mayo de 1936. Cesó al estallar la guerra civil española, en julio de ese año. Será, al igual que su predecesora, una revista con entregas mensuales que forman tomos semestrales, elaborando al final de cada de estos uno un índice de sus contenidos. Tanto la renumeración de sus entregas como de su foliación será anual, e insertará fotograbados, mapas, croquis y figuras. Su redacción estará a cargo de la Segunda Sección del Estado Mayor Central, del Ministerio de la Guerra, a través de una junta técnica al mando de un coronel, y en ella colaborarán oficiales, jefes y generales del ejército, así como agregados militares de las embajadas españolas en el extranjero. Se trata de la principal publicación periódica española de naturaleza técnica militar.
