Mit den Prozeduren LOGISTIC REGRESSION und PROBIT bietet SPSS leistungsfähige Produkte zur logistischen und zur Probit-Analyse von binären abhängigen Variablen an. Wenn nur logistische Regressionsgewichte und keine Probit-Schätzungen benötigt werden, sollten im Regelfall die Analysen mit dem Programm LOGISTIC REGRESSION durchgeführt werden, da dies durch die übersichtlicheren Analyse- und vielfältigeren Ausgabemöglichkeiten gekennzeichnet ist. Sind dagegen auch Probit-Schätzungen erforderlich, so muß der Nutzer von SPSS auf das Programm PROBIT umsteigen. Für die meisten sozialwissenschaftlichen Nutzer wäre es nach Ansicht des Autors allerdings hilfreicher, wenn das Programm LOGISTIC REGRESSION als eine Option auch PROBIT-Regressionen schätzen könnte. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht aus einer mikroökonomischen Perspektive die Determinanten des Einkommens aus einer freiberuflichen Tätigkeit. Im Gegensatz zu bisherigen Veröffentlichungen stützen sich die Analysen auf eine primär zu den Freien Berufen erhobene neue Datenbasis (FFB-Onlineumfrage Freie Berufe). So kann erstmalig zusammen auf freiberufliche Informationen zur Berufserfahrung, den einzelnen Berufsgruppen, der Gründungssituation oder zum Standesrecht zurückgegriffen werden. Theoretische Grundlage der Einkommensfunktion ist der humankapitaltheoretische Ansatz, der um institutionelle und gründungsbezogene Begebenheiten erweitert wurde. Neben deskriptiven Ergebnissen inklusive einer neuen Hochrechnung wird methodisch entsprechend der Datenskalierung ein Ordered Probit Modell geschätzt. This paper presents a convenient shortcut method for implementing the Heckman estimator of the dynamic random effects probit model using standard software. Based on unique data from a world-wide survey of agents involved in international climate policy, this paper empirically analyzes the importance of equity in this field. We find that equity issues are considered highly important in international climate negotiations and that the polluter-pays rule and the accompanying poor losers rule are the most widely accepted equity principles. Our econometric analysis shows a strong influence of the economic or emission performance of the agents' country on the importance of equity issues and principles: (i) Equity issues are seen as more important by individuals from G77/China countries or from countries with less current per capita GDP and less future per capita CO2 emissions. (ii) Agents from richer countries are less in favor of incorporating the polluter-pays and the ability-to-pay principle in future international climate agreements. (iii) The poor losers rule is more strongly supported by individuals from G77/China countries or by individuals from countries with less current per capita GDP. While these results are consistent with pure economic self-interest, the support for the egalitarian principle runs contrary to economic intuition: In the long-run, agents from richer countries are more in favor of incorporating the egalitarian principle. Furthermore, the effect of the economic performance variables on the desired degree of incorporating the polluter-pays principle interestingly becomes less significant in the long-run. This indicates that future international climate agreements could possibly be based on a combination of the polluter-pays, the egalitarian, and the poor losers rule.

This paper examines the determinants of the inclusion of European companies in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index. In doing so, the paper contributes to the micro-econometric literature analyzing the determinants and economic effects of sustainability performance in three respects: First, it examines a broad measure of corporate sustainability behavior and thus does not only apply narrow measures of environmental performance such as toxic releases which is common in other studies. Second, the paper examines the effect of internal assessment processes regarding corporate sustainability performance by an independent financial service institution. Finally, it analyzes the influence of unobserved heterogeneity in the framework of panel data models. The analysis shows that the probability for an inclusion in the sustainability indexes strongly decreases if a company does not respond to the written survey of the assessing institution. Furthermore, time invariant random effects and an autoregressive structure in the stochastic components are important factors. In contrast, a significant influence of past economic performance cannot be confirmed robustly.
