Data on the Pleistocene megafauna and the earliest evidence of the presence of Palaeolithic humans on the territory of the Northern Ob river region are analyzed. The data about the geological and geomorphological situation in the lower reaches of the Ob river is presented, the deposits of the Late Neopleistocene are characterized, and the main regularities in the taphonomy of megafaunal remains are described. Changes in the species composition of the Neopleistocene fauna from the right bank of the Big Ob and their chronology are established on the basis of numerous absolute dates obtained on bones. The results of the traceological analysis and dating of two mammoth tusk fragments with traces of human processing are presented. The authors provide information on 2020 field works on the Kushevatskaya channel and the Synya river, which gave new data on the early human settlement of the territory of the Lower Ob. It is concluded that the initial colonization of the region took place at the beginning of the Early Upper Palaeolithic, with first people coming presumably from the territory of the Urals.

Questions of standards in public life came to the fore of British politics during the 1992-1997 parliament. Concerns were expressed over the probity of individual politicians & of political parties & worries extended to the health of the British system of government as a whole. Underlying these news stories, however, were wider issues concerning attitudes toward government. Furthermore, these concerns about standards were also extensively reported during the 1997 election campaign, & were widely held, in popular accounts, to have played a part in the Conservative government's dramatic defeat. But, surprisingly, few academic analyses have tried to gauge either the extent of public concerns in 1997, or whether they really had an impact on party support. More generally, recent political science interest has focused on fears of declining public trust in the democratic system, throughout the Western world. This article explores British voters' trust in their polity. 10 Tables, 1 Appendix, 53 References. Adapted from the source document.

In the context of developing crisis in Russian-Western relations and as a reaction towards events in Ukraine the NATO undertakes significant and multi-dimensional increase of its military arsenals and contingents on the eastern borders of the Alliance. Measures of strengthening the military potential involve Baltic states, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria. Necessity to finally withdraw from limitations imposed by RussiaNATO Founding Act are under debates. Simultaneously involvement of northern neutral states (Sweden, Finland) into the Alliance is activated. At the same time, analysis of political statements of the leadership of northern neutral countries does not yet confirm their intention to refuse from neutral status.

This study applies functional theories of attitudes to suggest how distinct needs of the private, public, and collective facets of self may differently guide green consumer behavior in the pursuit of value-expressive, social-approval, and social-identification needs and how this may have implications for whether interest in purchasing eco-friendly products leads to action or stops short at desire. In particular, it examines how advertising manipulated to increase the relative salience of these needs alters how they each relate to purchase intention and willingness to pay for an eco-friendly product. The findings revealed that when the product was positioned as aiding in the expression of environmental concern, value-expressive needs motivated greater purchase intention and willingness to pay; however, when the product was positioned as aiding in self-enhancement, social-approval needs motivated greater purchase intention but not willingness to pay. Conversely, when the product was positioned as aiding in identification, social-identification needs did not motivate either outcome. This provides evidence that targeting more internalized sources of motivation (i.e., environmental concern) is an effective strategy for increasing both desire and action, whereas targeting less internalized sources of motivation (i.e., self-enhancement needs) may increase desire but is not sufficient to overcome the higher cost of eco-friendly products as a barrier to actual purchase. This study has important implications for identifying best practices for the development of social marketing, activist, and advertising campaigns that will more effectively promote environmental action at the checkout line.

This first edition of Health at a Glance: Asia/Pacificpresents a set of key indicators of health status, the determinants of health, health care resources and utilisation, and health care expenditure and financing across 27 Asia/Pacific countries and economies in the Asia/Pacific region. Drawing on a wide range of data sources, it builds on the format used in previous editions of Health at a Glance: OECD Indicators, and gives readers a better understanding of the factors that affect the health of populations and the performance of health systems. Each of the 32 indicators in the book is presented in a user-friendly format, consisting of charts illustrating variations across countries and over time, brief descriptive analyses highlighting the major findings conveyed by the data, and a methodological box on the definition of the indicator and any limitations in data comparability. An annex provides additional information on the demographic contexts in which health systems operate.
