The research aim is to comprehend interorganizational relationships inside marketing channels in Japan. A qualitative study of marketing channel around a large japanese retailer allows to explain interorganizational relationships structure thanks to some theories: centered networks (J.C. Jarillo, 1988; H.B. Thorelli, 1986; W.W. Powell, 1987; R.E. Miles and C.C. Snow, 1978, 1984, 1988, 1992), hybrid and bilateral governments (O.E. Williamson, 1975, 1979, 1981, 1985; J.B. Heide and G. John, 1990, 1992) and mechanisms of clan control (W.G. Ouchi, 1977, 1979, 1980). A contextualisation with Japanese culture of management (E.T and M.R. Hall, 1994; D. Bollinger and G. Hofstede, 1987) supports analysis. This research identifies two interorganizational structures: multilateral relationships organized around two brokers, a coordinator and an emulator; and relationships organized around a interorganizational entity made up from dedicated commercial teams of two companies. Mechanisms of control varies from control by results, control by behaviours to a "personalized clan" control. These two types of structures and three modes of control appear simultaneously in marketing channels of distribution of a company. ; La recherche vise la compréhension des relations interorganisationnelles dans le canal de distribution au Japon. La recherche identifie plusieurs structures interorganisationnelles : soit des relations multilatérales organisées autour de deux firmes-pivots, un pivot coordinateur et un pivot émulateur ; soit des relations organisées autour d'une entité interorganisationnelle constituée d'équipes commerciales dédiées de deux entreprises. Le contrôle dans ses formes varie du contrôle par les résultats, au contrôle par les comportements ou par un « clan personnalisé ». Ces deux types de structures et trois modes de contrôle apparaissent simultanément dans les canaux de distribution de l'entreprise.

This book studies inter-organisational relations from a new angle: power. Drawing on examples that highlight how the EU relates to NATO and to the UN, it shows how consequential inter-organisational relations are for the functioning and nature of the organisations, and how important it is to detect the forms of power exerted in these relations. Power, for international organisations, is above all about relevance. In an era when the legitimacy and role of international organisations is increasingly questioned, the organisations have a growing concern for ensuring their continued relevance. Subsequently, the management of relevance is a central part of inter-organisational relations and becomes visible in the way organisations handle questions about their tasks, hierarchies and image. Disability therefore constitutes a negative externality leading to regulatory policies. However, these regulations, which mainly take into account a societal compensation project, have the effect of offering transfer income, keeping people with disabilities away from employment. The question of potentially lost value then arises in a dysfunctional problem, that of non-work. The case governance analysis we propose demonstrates that a complex and inter-organizational integration process leads to the inclusion of people with disabilities, and makes them more economically and socially independent. Governance here includes particular elements that reconcile the commercial and industrial requirements of a globalized market with situations of disability. We are therefore in a strong sense of the concept of corporate social and societal responsibility. ; Le handicap est considéré comme une altération des capacités d'un individu limitant ses activités ou ses possibilités de participation. Le handicap constitue dès lors, une externalité négative conduisant à des politiques de régulation. In view of the rising importance and prevalence of network-based collaboration, this book aims to meet the need for more theory in this area. Theoretically conceptualizing and empirically describing the practice of reflexive leadership in inter-organisational networks, it explores how member organisations approach reflexive leadership and the associated challenges. Examining these questions from wider leadership theory perspectives as well as a tighter focus upon inter-organizational networks, the author specifically explores how reflexive leadership can be sustained and how social and political contexts may obstruct or support its use, acceptance and practice. Based on in-depth qualitative empirical fieldwork in the Swiss healthcare sector, the book offers a novel practice-theoretical model for use in inter-organizational networks.

Résumé Cet article vise à évaluer l'influence des systèmes de gouvernance nationaux sur la dynamique des relations interorganisationnelles. Le champ d'investigation choisi par les auteurs est celui des fusions internationales qui sont souvent marquées par un certain degré d'instabilité. L'étude empirique est fondée sur une analyse approfondie de l'évolution du groupe EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company), qui est issu de la fusion de la société française Aérospatiale-Matra, de la société allemande DASA et de la société espagnole CASA. L'analyse présentée révèle que la structure organisationnelle évolue en fonction de facteurs liés aux systèmes de gouvernance des acteurs associés.

Using theoretical overviews and empirical case studies, this volume explores how soldiers cope with the new forms of cultural diversity occurring within various multinational military operations, and how their organizations manage them. It is suitable for students of peace operations, military studies, international security, and business studies.

This edited volume approaches regionalism as one potential pattern in a changing global order. Since the end of the Cold War, different forms of territorialization have emerged and we are confronted with an increasing number and variety of actors that are establishing regional projects. This volume offers an innovative contribution to the study of this new complexity by exploring constellations of regional actors, spatial scales and imaginations beyond state-centred perspectives as well as on multiple, often overlapping levels. The chapters analyse the emergence, trajectories and outcomes of regionalisms from the perspective of the Global South, specifically concentrating on regional projects in Latin America and Africa, but also in the Asia-Pacific. They attempt to identify the specific conditions and junctures of different forms of region-making in their external (global) and internal (local/national) dimensions. The volume also places special emphasis on interactions, spatial entanglements and comparisons between regionalisms in different parts of the world. By expanding beyond the perspective of North-South transfers, this book seeks to better understand the dynamics and diversity of interregional interactions.

Este artículo tiene como objetivo identificar las formas de gobernanza que están presentes en las relaciones interorganizacionales en el contexto de parques científicos y tecnológicos. Por lo tanto, el estudio presenta un análisis comparativo de la gobernanza de parques científicos y tecnológicos. Así, se utilizó el estudio de casos múltiples como una estrategia de investigación, incluyendo un parque en Brasil y otro en Portugal. Uno de los parques fue creado por el sector privado por la necesidad de las empresas en compartir recursos y buscar alternativas de crecimiento. El otro fue creado por el gobierno como consecuencia de las políticas públicas para el desarrollo económico y la generación de empleo y renta. Los resultados muestran que los casos estudiados se caracterizan por la organización administrativa, como la forma de gobernanza de las relaciones interorganizacionales. Sin embargo, la forma de gobernanza y los mecanismos formales e informales de gobernanza son las principales conclusiones. Hay otros elementos (e.g., el comportamiento de la gente) que pueden influir en las relaciones interorganizacionales en el contexto del parque científico y tecnológico. Por último, el artículo ofrece una discusión de las implicaciones teóricas y prácticas del estudio ; This article aims to identify the forms of governance that are present in interorganizational relationships in the context of science and technology parks. Therefore, this study presents a comparative analysis of the governance of science and technology parks. Thus, multiple case studies were used as a research strategy, including a park in Brazil and another one in Portugal. One of the parks was created by the private sector because of the companies' need to share resources and search for growth alternatives. The other one was created by the government as a result of public policies for economic development, employment generation and profit. The results show that the studied cases are characterized by the administrative organization as the form of governance in interorganizational relationships. However, the form of governance and the formal and informal mechanisms of governance are the main conclusions. There are other elements (e.g., people's behavior) that may influence interorganizational relationships in the context of science and technology parks. Finally, this article offers a discussion on the theoretical and practical implications of this research ; Cet article a pour objectif d´identifier les types de gouvernance présents dans les relations interorganisationnelles dans le contexte des parcs scientifiques et technologiques. L´étude présente une analyse comparative de la gouvernance des parcs scientifiques et technologiques, comprenant un parc au Brésil et un autre au Portugal. L´un de ces parcs a été établi par le secteur privé vue le besoin des entreprises de partager les ressources et trouver des options de croissance. L´autre a été établi par le gouvernement en relation avec les politiques publiques pour le développement économique et la création d'emplois et de revenus. Les résultats montrent que les cas étudiés se caractérisent par l´organisation administrative en tant que type de gouvernance des relations interorganisationnelles. Cependant, le type de gouvernance et les mécanismes formels et informels de gouvernance constituent les principales conclusions. Il y a d´autres éléments (le comportement des personnes) qui peuvent influencer les relations interorganisationnelles dans le contexte des parcs scientifiques et technologiques. En dernier lieu, l´article propose une discussion sur les implications pratiques et théoriques de l´étude.
