In this article I provide an appraisal of the neo-Gramscian approach to the study of international relations by focusing on three of its major exponents: Robert Cox, Stephen Gill and Adam Morton. I argue that neo-Gramscians have yet to adequately address some important challenges and criticisms of their method around its overly "top-down" mode of analysis, its neglect of forms of resistance and its excessively global and cosmopolitan account of neoliberal hegemony and especially resistance. I maintain that a return to the letter of Gramsci's writings on hegemony and its national-popular and democratic character would not only allow neo-Gramscians to address more effectively these weaknesses, but also strengthen their approach and align it more effectively with trends in contemporary politics.Keywords: Gramsci; International Relations; Hegemony; National-Popular.

The Gramscian thinking has been increasingly used in the fields of Political Science and International Relations, however, prioritizing its concept of hegemony. In this article, it is proposed both, a more accurate elucidation and a possible transposition of the concept of the historical bloc to the international scenario, having as the main question the following study inquiry: can we transpose the concept of the historical bloc developed by Gramsci for International Relations of the 21st century, taking into account its transnational nature? Methodologically, a deductive, qualitative approach is used, with a literature review based on data collection from secondary sources. It is understood that the notion of the historical bloc coined by Gramsci, followed by the assumptions of critical theorists, helps us to understand the difficulties of the current international relations. The versatility of this concept allows us to endorse a macro view of the many facets of International Relations, whether they are linked to the political, economic, social, and even ideological spheres. Il tema dell'influenza della fratture religiosa nella determinazione delle preferenze politico-elettorali e del confronto interpartitico è stato considerato in misura marginale in molteplici studi sul sistema partitico canadese. Nell'ambito del dibattito dottrinario e politico, la tendenza generale che è prevalsa sinora è stata quella di mettere in risalto, più che altro, le intersecazioni esistenti tra le diversità linguistiche ed etno-culturali con un ordine politico oramai profondamente secolarizzato, in cui la religione riveste un ruolo superficiale e secondario per influenzare le scelte degli elettori.

There is very little scientific literature that considers the relationship between religions and an integral concept of Sustainable Development, including its three dimensions (social, economic and environmental), as proposed in the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It was necessary to conduct a study of this kind, with the aim of making visible and show with concrete data, the contribution of religions to the integral sustainability. This paper presents an empirical research in which we intend to make visible the actions performed by religious organizations in Catalonia, that have been contributing to the Sustainable Development. The study is the launching of the Sustainability and Religions Watch. This study about the contribution of religious organizations to the Sustainable Development has been made by a mixed method with two techniques for data collection: firstly, has counted the presence of indicators linked to the priority areas of Sustainable Development, from the analysis of the content of the websites of religious organizations (quantitative analysis). Moreover, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted to representatives of religious organizations (qualitative analysis). The study of the contribution of religions to the Sustainable Development opens new doors to interfaith dialogue because it is based on elements that are common between different beliefs. In his early writings, dealing mainly with problems of agricultural policy, Max Weber at times differentiates between "class" and "estate", but in general he treats them as synonyms. Only after 1909, when he started to work on Economy and Society and Economic Ethic of the World Religions, he felt the necessity to use these concepts in a more clear-cut manner. "Classes" are only placed within the economic order, while "estates" belong to the social order and take shape through the partition of «social prestige» or «honor», which in turn derives from different sources, including the religious ones. This essay explores the forms of religious stratification which arise from the knowledge of rituals and precedents, from the knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures, or from a specific knowledge of the conditions of possibility of redemption. ; Nell'opera giovanile di Weber, che si occupa prevalentemente di problemi di politica agraria, i concetti di "classe" e "ceto" vengono talvolta distinti ma perlopiù utilizzati come sinonimi. This volume contains the results of some studies presented by Egyptian and Italian scholars at the International Conference "Peacebuilding between East and West XI-XVI c.", organized in Cairo on, October 27, 2016 by the Egyptian Unity of research, as part of the academic activities of the Bilateral Project "History of Peace-building: peaceful relations between East and West (11th - 15th century)" carried out jointly by the Institute of the Mediterranean EuropeHistory of the CNR (Italy), and the University of Damanhour. The project is totally funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT)(1) of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Italian National Research Council (CNR)(2).The purpose of the Bilateral Project - and even of the aforementioned International Conference- is to carry out research in order to examine through the study of different types of documentary and narrative sources; the nature, quantity and quality of peaceful relations between Christians and Muslims in a geographical area extending from the Iberian Peninsula to the Levantin a chronological interval between the eleventh and the fifteenth centuries. The introduction articulates some of the conceptual questions that emerge in investigating women's political thought in early modernity, in Europe and beyond. Four aspects are particularly crucial: the nexus between politics and theology, in the light of the pervasiveness of religion in everyday life and women's intellectual elaboration; the relationship with political power, that women both criticize and legitimate; the challenge they pose to patriarchal authorities who claimed to hold the monopoly of the sacred; and women's entrance into the rising public sphere. Furthermore, the introduction shows the continuities and discontinuities between the Middle Ages and the early modern era with respect to women's political thought and suggests the necessity to rethink traditional periodizations which emphasize breaks more than the different faces of transition. ; L'introduzione articola alcuni nodi concettuali che affiorano nell'indagare il pensiero politico delle donne nella prima modernità, in Europa e non solo. In particolare, si pone l'accento su quattro aspetti principali: il nesso tra politica e teologia, alla luce della pervasività della religione nella vita quotidiana e nell'elaborazione intellettuale; il rapporto simultaneamente di critica e legittimazione del potere politico; la messa in questione delle autorità patriarcali che pretendono di detenere il monopolio del sacro; l'affacciarsi delle donne sulla sfera pubblica nella sua lunga genesi. Inoltre, l'introduzione mostra le continuità e le discontinuità tra medioevo e prima età moderna per quanto concerne il pensiero politico delle donne, suggerendo la necessità di ripensare la tradizionale periodizzazione più attenta alle cesure che alle diverse facce della transizione.

Dal XII al XIII secolo nel Sud della Francia le città si diedero un'organizzazione comunale quasi del tutto autonoma ed espressero magistrature urbane in buona misura comparabili con quelle che nate in Italia alla fine dell'XI secolo. Contemporaneamente gli elementi economicamente più attivi delle loro società cittadine (diverse ma al medesimo tempo simile a quelle dell'Italia centro settentrionale), allacciarono legami stretti e frequenti con i mercanti e gli uomini d'affari della penisola. Fu attraverso le relazioni commerciali che si determinò nel Midi lo sviluppo di determinati organismi istituzionali e si ebbe la diffusione di modelli culturali e giuridici di provenienza italiana? Si possono valutare i modi e i tempi di questa influenza? In quale misura il Sud sviluppò e cambiò le esperienze politiche mutuate dall'esterno? Questo testo, lungi dal rispondere a queste domande assai complesse, vorrebbe cercare di definire i limiti della nostra conoscenza attuale sul tema in questione e presentare le prospettive degli studi, seguendo la traccia di lavori antichi e recenti.

Attraverso il confronto con gli altri monasteri femminili e maschili esistenti in laguna negli stessi secoli, il presente intervento indaga il ruolo rivestito dal cenobio femminile di San Zaccaria all'interno delle vicende politiche, sociali e religiose del dogado veneziano nei secoli cruciali dell'alto medioevo. L'analisi evidenzia da un lato l'esistenza di una chiara scansione cronologica entro la quale la comunità monastica esplica in maniera più o meno incisiva una funzione di rappresentanza dapprima della famiglia dogale poi della città stessa, dall'altro in che misura tale funzione sia determinata da vicende esterne al dogado o da elementi interni al monastero stesso. ; This paper analyses the role played by the female religious community of San Zaccaria in the political, social and religious context of the Venetian Dogado during the Early Middle Ages. On the one hand, by comparing the convent with the other Venetian male and female monasteries, the study clarifies that the community exercised a more or less incisive role in representing first the doge's family, then the entire city, during a specific timeframe. On the other hand, the analysis reveals to what extent the functions the monastery exercised were influenced by events external to the Dogado or by developments within San Zaccaria itself.

The aim of this article is to underline the doctrinal peculiarities of Anglicanism through examination of the 39 Articles of Religion. Unlike other coeval protestant confessions of faith, the genesis of the 39 Articles was eminently dictated by political reasons, that is to say, the reinforcement of the English monarchy through the pursuit of religious unity in the Country. ; Con questo articolo si intende mettere in rilievo le peculiarità dottrinali dell'anglicanesimo attraverso l'esame dei 39 Articoli di religione. A differenza delle altre coeve confessioni di fede protestanti, la genesi dei 39 articoli fu dettata da ragioni prevalentemente politiche, ovvero il rafforzamento della monarchia inglese mediante la ricerca dell'unità religiosa del Paese.

La ricerca si concentra sull'applicazione del concetto di super-diversità nel particolare contesto della città di Roma, focalizzandosi in modo particolare sulle implicazioni riguardanti la diversità nelle relazioni sociali. A questo scopo, la prima parte rielabora alcuni aspetti teorici al fine di combinare il quadro relativo alla super-diversità con una prospettiva intersezionale e applicarlo ad un contesto non tradizionalmente multiculturale e di immigrazione relativamente recente. La seconda ha invece come oggetto la creazione di un indice quantitativo per l'individuazione di contesti di potenziale super-diversità tramite la combinazione di vari indicatori sulla base dei dati relativi ai quartieri romani. Infine, il terzo capitolo presenta uno studio di campo in uno specifico quartiere romano, il Quadraro, selezionato sulla base dell'indice sopra citato. Tale studio è stato condotto attraverso un'analisi esplorativa delle reti sociali di un campione di abitanti al fine di approfondire la natura delle relazioni sociali fra diversi gruppi in un contesto di super-diversità emergente. The research aims to apply the framework of super-diversity in Rome, especially considering its implications for the study of diversity in social relations within this context. In this regard, the first chapter try to develop a theoretical framework, which allows to combine super-diversity with an intersectional perspective and apply it in a non-multicultural context with relatively recent immigration flows. Starting from these assumptions, in the second section we propose a quantitative index for the identification of emerging super-diversity contexts in Rome by using neighbourhoods as reference units. Finally, the last chapter concerns a fieldwork study in Quadraro neighbourhood, selected on the basis of the above-mentioned index. For that purpose, we set an explorative social networks analysis on a sample of inhabitants in order to deepen the nature of diversity in social relations within an emerging super-diversity context.

Il presente lavoro tratta l'influenza della Chiesa Cattolica in Polonia nella stesura della legislazione nazionale relativa all'interruzione di gravidanza e alla fecondazione assistita, nella loro costruzione discorsiva e nella loro collocazione ed espressione nel discorso pubblico. La tesi è divisa in tre parti. La prima fornisce un substrato di riferimento tramite un percorso torico e di revisione della letteratura che inquadra e motiva gli stretti rapporti esistenti fra Stato, Chiesa e identità in Polonia, creando la diade stereotipica Polak / Katolik. La seconda verifica la persistenza di questo binomio: attraverso l'analisi di dati provenienti dalla WVS e dal CBOS polacco, misuriamo il livello di religiosità e l'impatto della religione sulla vita quotidiana, sui comportamenti e sulle scelte morali della popolazione. Il tasso di aderenza alle pratiche religiose non si è modificato in maniera significativa nel corso dell'ultimo ventennio. Sebbene l'affiliazione sia maggiore per alcune categorie socio-demografiche, le differenze sono modeste e le correlazioni sovente non significative. Il ruolo storico della Chiesa Cattolica in Polonia e la diffusa e profonda religiosità del Paese costituiscono il framework dello spazio sociale in cui si articola il discorso pubblico. Nella terza parte, tramite Critical Discourse Analysis, abbiamo esaminato sia il discorso della Conferenza Episcopale Polacca sia la rappresentazione a mezzo stampa dei temi. Dall'analisi del corpus, emerge che il discorso pubblico è caratterizzato da parzialità, con una prevalenza pro-life in termini sia di linguaggio sia di messaggio. La semantica pro-vita si è trasferita non solo dal vocabolario orientato a quello quotidiano, ma anche dalla sfera della discussione sui diritti riproduttivi alle definizioni sociali di concetti più generali, configurando una "barriera discorsiva". La stampa cattolica, inoltre, è particolarmente attiva nella trattazione di questi argomenti, mentre quella di sinistra mostra un ruolo meno incisivo nel prendere posizione sul tema. ; The topic of the present work is the influence exerted by the Catholic Church in Poland on the drafting of national legislation on abortion and IVF, on their discursive construction and their collocation and expression in the public discourse. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first provides a theoric and historical framework motivating the close relations existing between State, Church, and identity in Poland, creating the stereotypical dyad Polak / Katolik. The second part verifies the persistence of this juxtaposition: through the analysis of data from the WVS and the Polish CBOS, we measure the level of religiosity and the impact of religion on daily life, behaviours, and moral choices of the population. Adherence rate to religious practices has not changed significantly over the last two decades. Although the affiliation is higher for some socio-demographic categories, differences are small and correlations often insignificant. The historical role of the Catholic Church in Poland and the widespread and deep religiosity of the country creates the social framework in which the public discourse is developed. In the third part, through Critical Discourse Analysis, we examined both the public discourses of the Polish Episcopal Conference and the representation of the issues in the national press. The analysis shows that public discourse is characterized by partiality, with a pro-life prevalence in terms of both language and message. Pro-life semantics moved not only from the oriented vocabulary to the everyday one, but also from the sphere of the discussion on reproductive rights to social definitions of more general concepts, configuring a "discursive barrier". Moreover, while the Catholic press is particularly active in the discussion, the leftist one shows a less significant role in taking a position on the issue.
