Plato uses the myth of Er in the Republic in order to carve out space for political freedom and responsibility for human freedom in the ordinary polis. While much of the Republic concentrates on the development of an ideal city in speech, that city is fundamentally a mythos presented in order for Socrates and his friends to learn something about political and individual virtue. The city in which Socrates and his friends exist is an imperfect city and myth of Er is intended for those audience members. Its emphasis on the necessity for personal responsibility in the midst of freedom can be understood as a political claim about the place of individual choice in a world that is constrained by both political and cosmic "necessity".

Corporate social responsibility is focused on finding ways to harmonize the relationship between business, government and society. Russian companies are unique because they are between the Soviet past and the present Market. According to the Russian government, social responsibility is a kind of "payoff" for privatization, in which the state property was given to new owners. While capitalization is one of the most important criteria in international practice, in Russia it is the creation of political conditions favorable for running and developing businesses.
The writers of the UNESCO document, Rethinking education: Towards a global common good? challenge educators to address their efforts to meet the current threats to sustainable life for all who share this planet. One way that higher education has been attempting to do this is through campus-community partnerships working to solve social problems locally or further afield. In this exploratory study, answers were sought to the question of why faculty members and administrators participate in these service partnerships, both in terms of what motivates them to do so and what they hope to accomplish, and how cultural context may influence their answers. Answers to these questions may have implications for faculty recruitment and support and for curriculum design and student preparation for serving the common good as well as for the larger vision of how institutions might fulfill their social responsibility. Using one-on-one semi-structured interviews in a number of different countries, some trends could be identified. Responding to a sense of duty was found across all cultural contexts as a primary motivator for faculty members and administrators, but how duty was interpreted and legitimized depended on their various religious and political grounds. Cultural context also influenced whether participants saw their impact as empowering their service partners or establishing social justice. ; SIN FINANCIACIÓN ; No data 2016
In the modern world the reputation of the company is more and more influenced by its social position. As a result of a longstanding and sustained process of western government capitalist development, a complicated and balanced system of regulating mutual relations between private enterprise, authority, society in the sphere of socioeconomic development of countries and separate territories was formed.Nowadays in different countries business participation in solving social problems is either regulated hard by the commercial, taxation, labour, environmental legislation or independently under the influence of determined motivations and benefits. In Russia this process is under way in the conditions of dominating governmental positions, weak civil society institutions and oligarchic business development.Social changes in the society are successful only when most important powers are involved. The cooperation of political, social and economic subjects, based on the principles of social partnership, contributes to the steady development of the country. The increasing significance of non-financial development factors (social stability, environmental safety) actualize practical and theoretical aspects of social responsibility. ; In the modern world the reputation of the company is more and more influenced by its social position. The objective of the article is to analyze the various forms of responsibility of parent companies and their subsidiary multinationals in terms of what corporate social responsibility means. At the methodological level it is analytical and descriptive research. Despite all the struggles and activities carried out to regulate the operations of multinational corporations and the demand of the agents of the main governments responsible for strictly monitoring compliance with the rules (corporate social responsibility) the fact that major multinational corporations are pursuing interests for the implementation oflos control and monitoring of the cross-border activities of their companies should not be ignored. It is concludedthat the government's support for foreign investment, for example, is sometimes subject to compliance with minimum social, environmental, and human rights standards. It is difficult to judge the success and outcome of the effort made to monitor and regulate the business of multinational corporations, but what seems certain is that rich countries, such as the United States and the United Kingdom, have apparently accepted the task of playing a significant role in promoting and promoting cross-border (corporate social responsibility).
; Abstract: This paper studies the perception that Argentine society has of the business people, and questions the differences between the roles of company managers, based on the understanding that there are asymmetries in the perception that the population has of them, which then is translated to their image and its consequent decoupling with its functions in the productive scheme. The perception of the Government's role in economic management is also analyzed. Finally, we observe how this confluence of perceptions generates a gap between what society deems right and the role that entrepreneurs should play in order to satisfy the demands that the public itself asks of the economic system.
Civic engagement favours integration and social cohesion, but the way in but how this happens and the role that responsibility represents in the process requires careful analysis. From Arendt's critical comments on the link between citizenship and rights, Weil's conception of obligations towards the human being, and Zambrano's reflection about Europe, it is maintained that co-operation and not just obligations must be promoted. One possible way is to revalue the role of empathy in its important social function since it strengthens social relations, but this is not enough. It is stated that it is necessary to assume new political and social paradigms, such as that of solidarity or fraternity, to forge a new social covenant that promotes civic commitment in social, economic and political spaces.
This reality issues a challenge to parents, families, public administrations and to television channels themselves. Socialization, that is, the fitting of individuals to a common culture, is everyone's responsibility in order to make the future more tolerant, supportive and democratic-essential for the survival of the human species in the 21st century. That is the reason why socialization must be managed and cultivated by all the nation's institutions, without exception. For this purpose it becomes necessary to join forces, to build a consensus where families, schools and the main television channels commit themselves to a common socializing function with agreements that would help lay the foundations of a society concerned with human development
Abstract: In the common law system and in the area of pre-contractual liability, the conduct of the parties in the negotiation phase (and, in particular, the obligations of conduct in good faith, and the cases of unjustified-withdrawal from negotiations), and the legislation has demonstrated an attitude that we could almost define as "indifferent" towards any pre-contractual liability (except in cases where one of the paciscenti had been guilty of having committed a "tort"). On the contrary, once an agreement has been entered into the parties, it is possible to find rules that expressly sanction obligations of good faith for the parties involved. This work seeks to analyze and concretise through jurisprudence and with a comparative method a profound analysis of the pre-contractual liability system. The method that has been used is comparative (both of doctrine and jurisprudence) to various common law systems and many times also from the European Union system. Key words: common law, contract law, pre-contractual responsibility; US contract law, England contract law, good faith.

This article focuses on the development of a small-scale research project implemented in a public school in Bogotá, Colombia with a group of fourth graders who study English as a foreign language. The main goal of this research is to determine the criteria my fourth graders use when assessing the worksheets I provided them with in the English class. The data collection techniques that support the proposal are questionnaires, semi-open interviews, and the teacher's journal. This study prompted a more collaborative environment among teacher and students regarding a basic activity of the curriculum as the materials used in class. Finally, this paper emphasizes the importance of creating classrooms that are more democratic to enrich the educational process. ; The great present danger, the nameless danger that has replaced communism is that the United States, the world's dominant power on whom the maintenance of international peace and the support of liberal principles depends, will shrink its responsibilities and allow that the international order that it created and sustains to collapse. The 1990s were a squandered decade for the American foreign policy; something regrettable if one recalls that 10 years is the time Hitler needed to become a lethal threat for the world. Leadership, regime change and inspiration on the tenets that guided American foreign policy through the most successful phases of the Cold war…those are the ingredients of the recipe on which the current foreign policy of the Bush administration is based as already designed in 2000 by two of the most infl uential neoconservative thinkers.
