Since the introduction of the bachelor-master (bama) in the Netherlands (2002) and Flanders (2004), university education landscape has changed dramatically. The Bachelor's reform was accompanied by numerous institutional reforms, such as the hard switch in the Netherlands, the 'inkanteling' of college courses in Flemish universities, and curriculum revisions at all levels. Furthermore, the mobility between universities become easier, one of the central objectives of the Bologna Declaration. (Almost) ten years after this symposium is to focus the question, what has been the impact of this reform on university education in general and on the quality of education in particular. The introduction of the bamastructuur student mobility actually increased or disappoint the results? Provide universities now stands better educated graduates, and if so, is that thanks to Bachelor's or other developments such as the increased focus on quality assurance through accreditation? The article deals with the proper identification & localization of the effect of election predictions on voting behavior. As a revision of the "traditional bandwagon concept" stemming from the 1930's & 1940's, which is still in use despite its conceptual fallacy, new lines of thought are merged into the definition of the "modern bandwagon concept:" the relative & subjective bandwagon effects, together with the relative & subjective underdog effects & the slack effect, constitute the declaration effect as a resultant. Using matrices based upon party preferences, upon exposure to, perception of & interpretation of election predictions, & upon possible voting behavior, the several effects are localized. The real existence of effects is briefly discussed in relation to favorable or neutralizing conditions from the fields of pol'al sci & of mass COMM's. A warning is issued, on methodological & pol'al grounds, against too quick an acceptance of US res findings as valid for the Netherlands. IPSA.

Denken over Religie: Antropologische theorie en godsdienst ; Deel 3 Hedendaagse perspectieven
Third and last part of the basic work 'Thinking about religion' by Valeer Neckebrouck Met Part III. Contemporary Perspectives, author Valeer Neckebrouck has come to the conclusion of the chronologically conceived series Thinking about Religion. Anthropological theory and religion. The study of the anthropology of religion is discussed in this last part from the most leading contemporary models and perspectives. The secularization theories, postmodernism, feminism, neo-Darwinism and the cognitive anthropology of religion are discussed in detail, but also thinkers such as René Girard, Walter Burkert, Edward O. Wilson and Richard Dawkins are reviewed. The treatment of contemporary theoretical perspectives in the anthropological study of religion concerns areas of research that are still in constant flux, insights that are still in full development. Almost every day new discoveries are made in biology, some of which require a radical revision of insights that were previously regarded as established achievements. Because our knowledge of biology and neurology is constantly evolving, its balance has to be rewritten again and again. With this third part of the Thinking about religion series, Valeer Neckebrouck has undeniably made an important contribution to this. In this final volume Neckebrouck presents the reader with a thorough analysis and critical evaluation of the various theoretical systems with which great and lesser minds from recent Western cultural history have attempted to clarify the enigmatic phenomenon of "religion" from an anthropological point of view. For anyone interested in the phenomenon of "religion" and wanting to know how anthropologists have thought about religion throughout history, this trilogy is an indispensable and very richly detailed reference book. Until now, such a detailed description and critical evaluation of the subject matter has not been available in any language area
Culturele racisten, neo-Nazi's of papieren tijgers? Bespreking van recente nederlandstalige literatuur over extreem-rechtse partijen in Europa

In light of the European emergence of extreme right-wing parties, Dutch & Flemish works are reviewed, focusing on the situation in Flanders. In Racistische partijen in West-Europa. Tussen nationale traditie en Europese samenwerking ([Racist Parties in Western Europe between National Tradition and European Cooperation] Leiden, Netherlands: Stichting Burgerschapskunde, 1993), Frank Elbers & Meindert Fennema view extreme Right parties as single-issue (ie, migrants) parties characterized by racism. Their work is found insightful on an international level, but too general regarding the situation in Flanders; further, revision is necessary to account for developments around & since the 1994 European elections. Patrick Stouthuysen's Extreem-rechts in na-oorlogs Europa ([The Extreme Right in Postwar Europe] Brussels, Belgium: VUB, 1993) views extreme Right parties as protest parties with a very unreliable electorate &, therefore, little chance to become influential. The book is balanced in its organization, but the lack of empirical data is deplored & the situation in Flanders is not addressed; although it is suggested that the perspective of right-wing parties as protest parties applies to Flanders as well as to the rest of Western Europe. Jos Vander Velpen's Daar komen ze aangemarcheerd. Extreem-rechts in Europa ([They're Marchin' In. The Extreme Right in Europe] Berchem-Breda, Netherlands: EPO 1992), a work of critical journalism in the Marxist tradition, is found rather one-sided & predictable in its perspective on modern Europe as a new bulwark of nationalism & foreigner hate, but the extensive analysis of the Flemish extreme Right party Vlaams Blok is deemed valuable. Rinke Van den Brink's De internationale van de haat. Extreem-rechts in West-Europa ([The Internationalization of Hate. The Extreme Right in Western Europe] Amsterdam, Netherlands: Uitgeverij SUA, 1994) is a compilation of articles about Western European right-wing parties & interviews with their members & leaders previously published in the critically liberal Dutch magazine Vrij Nederland. The book primarily shows the public image sought & projected by right-wing parties, emphasizing the Vlaams Blok. Strategies toward eradicating extreme right-wing parties are discussed. S. Paul
