Using several sources that have not been referred to often in Croatian historiography, such as Ivo Frank's brochure A revízió és a Horvátság (Croats and the Revision), this paper analyses Frank's interwar positions on Croatian-Hungarian relations and the Treaty of Trianon, with the accompanying historiographical contextualisation. Using an analytical approach, an attempt was made to determine the reasons why Frank abandoned his originally anti-Hungarian political activity in favour of political cooperation with the Hungarians, and to present his vision of future Croatian-Hungarian relations within the frame of Central Europe. As a politician active in the period before the collapse of Austria-Hungary, Frank was a typical Frankist Rightist, even participating in the famous tearing down of the Hungarian flag near the Zagreb railway station in 1895. However, due to the changed geopolitical situation, and following experiences gained in Graz and Vienna, and later while living in Budapest, he made a tactical manoeuvre in the post-war years, attempting to achieve the goals he had set down earlier. He believed that the Croatian Question in monarchist Yugoslavia, as well as the long-term foreign policy of a potential independent Croatian state, could hardly be resolved without cooperation with Hungary, which he considered the central factor of the Central European political order, and this can be clearly seen in the brochure A revízió és a Horvátság. In addition to the sources and other relevant literature, the analysis presented in the paper is based on certain Hungarian interwar newspapers (Pester Lloyd and Pesti Napló) and periodical publications (Budapesti Szemle and Magyar Szemle), which were found by searching digitised materials. The site of Kapitul lies about two kilometres south-east of Knin Fort, on the south-west flattened slope of Gajnjača Hill. This hillock lies in the immediate vicinity of a railway bridge beneath which the Kosovčica flows into the Krka River. Archaeological excavations at Kapitul led by Fra Lujo Marun were carried out several times between 1885 and 1937. The most important results were yielded during the first campaigns, in 1885, 1886 and 1888, in other words, at the time off and immediately after the cutting for the railway line through the site was made. Up to the beginning of the revision archaeological excavations in 2011, the position at which it lies was inaccessible and densely overgrown; it was considered that there were no further archaeological remains to be discovered. This state of affairs was preceded by numerous acts of devastation, the most important of which came during World War II; in 1942, the Italian army of occupation, preparing the ground for the building of a military and housing complex at Kapitul, removed the remains of medieval architecture and on the same site built barracks with residential buildings, high concrete defensive walls and bunkers. There was similar devastation when Knin Railway Station was enlarged in 1955. During the recent revision excavations, which were preceded by the demolition and removal of the remains of the Italian barracks, the remains of the foundations of a Romanesque threenave basilica (Knin Cathedral) were found, with the remains of structures (towers, walls) of the defensive walls that guarded the Kapitul complex. Also discovered were finds from the Roman and medieval periods. Part of the graveyard in which up to 1885 the inhabitants of the villages of Kapitul, Potkonje and Ljubač were interred was also discovered. ; Lokalitet Kapitul nalazi se oko dva kilometra jugoistočno od kninske tvrđave na jugozapadnoj zaravnjenoj padini brežuljka Gajnjača. Brežuljak se nalazi u neposrednoj blizini željezničkog mosta ispod kojega se rijeka Kosovčica ulijeva u Krku. Na Kapitulu su se pod vodstvom fra Luje Maruna u razdoblju od 1885. do 1937. godine, u više navrata, obavljala arheološka iskopavanja. Najznačajniji rezultati postignuti su tijekom prvih istraživačkih kampanja 1885., 1886. i 1888. godine, odnosno za vrijeme i neposredno nakon probijanja trase za željezničku prugu kroz lokalitet. Do početka revizijskih arheoloških istraživanja 2011. godine položaj na kojem se nalazi bio je nepristupačan, prekriven gustom vegetacijom te se smatralo da ondje više nema nikakvih arheoloških ostataka. Takvom stanju prethodile su brojne devastacije, a najveća se dogodila tijekom Drugoga svjetskog rata. Naime, 1942. godine talijanska je vojska, pripremajući teren za izgradnju vojno-stambenog kompleksa na Kapitulu, uklonila ostatke srednjovjekovne arhitekture te je na istome mjestu sagradila vojarnu sa zgradama za stanovanje, visoke betonske bedeme i bunkere. Sljedeća devastacija dogodila se prilikom proširenja kninskoga Željezničkog kolodvora 1955. godine. Najnovijim revizijskim iskopavanjima, kojima je prethodilo uklanjanje ostataka talijanske vojarne, otkriveni su temeljni ostatci romaničke trobrodne bazilike (kninske katedrale), ostatci struktura (kule, zidovi) bedema koji su štitili kompleks na Kapitulu te pokretni nalazi iz rimskoga i srednjovjekovnog razdoblja. Otkriven je i dio groblja na kojem su se do 1885. godine pokapali stanovnici selâ Kapitul, Potkonje i Ljubač.

Uspostava nadnacionalnih autoriteta regulacije banaka izravno je pridonijela boljem razumijevanju ponašanja i utjecaja bankovnog sektora na ekonomske tokove u cjelini. Institucionalna povezanost nacionalnih regulatornih tijela u kontekstu globalizacijskih odnosa pridonosi željenoj standardizaciji podataka koji su temelj za svaku validnu ekonomsku analizu. Napose, tržišna disciplina kao uporište suvremene regulacije reducira prostor neprozirnosti bankovne tvrtke, dok s druge strane dostupnost relevantnih baza podataka širi horizonte modelskog pristupa analize bankovnog sektora. Dominacija istog sektora kao izvora eksternog financiranja na zajedničkom europskom tržištu ishodište je traženja rješenja izlaska iz stagnacijskih pritisaka na gospodarska kretanja. Dinamičnost kauzalnih ekonomskih odnosa nameće potrebu sve veće pouzdanosti u izvore podataka, stoga reprezentativnost uzorka ne samo da usmjerava pojedino istraživanje već i determinira spoznajni proces. Analiza javno dostupnih podataka bankovnih tvrtki suvremenim ekonometrijskim alatima svakako je velik iskorak u pokušaju uspostave jasnog i transparentnog metodološkog okvira monitoringa reaktivnog djelovanja bankarskog sektora na nužnu promjenu regulatornih uvjeta u funkciji postkriznog pokretanja kreditnog ciklusa. Model empirijske analize usklađivanja bankarskog sektora s novim kapitalnim zahtjevima ovim će se radom testirati na uzorku od 35 bankovnih grupacija koje posluju na području EU-a za razdoblje od 2000. do 2016. godine, odabranih po veličini aktive. Analizom panel modela izvršen je odabir dinamičkog panela generaliziranom metodom momenata (engl. Generalized Method of Moments – GMM) jednim korakom. Rezultati istraživanja dali su dokaze da najava povećanja regulatornog kapitala utječe na rast ukupnih bankovnih aktiva odnosno dolazi do značajnog porasta udjela bezrizičnih aktiva u imovini banaka, dok s druge strane dolazi do kreditne kontrakcije koja olakšava zadovoljenje regulatornih zahtjeva. Konačno, upravljačke strukture preko neto kamatne marže kao instrumenta kreditno-depozitne politike, realociraju vlastita i tuđa sredstva u funkciji očuvanja likvidnosti i solventnosti banke u cjelini. ; The establishment of supranational banks regulatory authorities has directly contributed to a better understanding of the behaviour and impact of the banking sector on economic flows comprehensively. Institutional linkage of national regulatory bodies in the context of globalization relations contributes to the desired standardization of data, which are the basis for every valid economic analysis. The market discipline as the backbone of modern regulation reduces especially the banking firm opacity area, while on the other hand the availability of relevant databases expands the horizons of the model approach to banking sector analysis. The dominance of the same sector as a source of external financing on a common European market is the starting point in seeking solutions of emersion from stagnant pressures on economic trends. The dynamism of causative economic relationships imposes the need for ever greater reliability in data sources, hence the representativeness of the sample not only directs an individual research but also determines the cognitive process itself. The analysis of publicly available banking firm data using modern econometric tools is certainly a significant step forward in the attempt to establish a clear and transparent methodological framework for monitoring the reactive activity of the banking sector to the necessary change of regulatory terms in the function of post-crisis launch of the credit cycle. The empirical analysis of the banking sector alignment with new capital requirements will be tested in this paper on a sample of 35 banking groups operating in the EU area for the period from 2000 to 2016, selected by size of assets. The selection of the dynamic panel was performed through panel modelling analysis using Generalized Method of Moments (GMM). The research results have provided evidence that the announcement of the increase in regulatory capital affects the growth of total banking assets, namely there is a significant increase in the share of non-risky assets in bank assets, while on the other hand there is a credit contraction that facilitates the regulatory requirements compliance. Finally, the management structures over the net interest margin as a credit and deposit policy instrument reallocate their own and other resources in the function of preserving the liquidity and solvency of the bank in general.

Major developmental psychology theories, such as psychoanalytic, behavioural or cognitive, have tried to explain how people grow and change over the course of a lifetime. These theories have mainly focused on the stages of development early in life - from infancy to adolescence - leaving the impression that after adolescence no significant leaps in development occur. However, a large body of evidence that has emerged recently revealed that becoming an adult is much more complicated and temporally extended than previously believed. The aim of this paper was to use an interdisciplinary approach to tap into the issue of transition to adulthood by integrating recent brain and cognitive maturational findings from neuroscience and cognitive psychology while considering traditional and legal markers of adulthood. We first discuss some of the questions related to definitions of the period of adulthood through societal and legal frameworks. Next, we examine some of the prevailing views on protracted structural and functional brain maturation and its impact on cognitive development, emphasizing the need and the potential value of investigating how these changes may influence important life choices during early young adulthood that have long-lasting consequences. Finally, based on evidence from existing research, we highlight the importance of deeper appreciation and integration of findings from different research disciplines in order to better understand strengths and vulnerabilities of young adults. ; Numerosas teorías de la psicología de desarrollo, como la teoría psicoanalítica, conductual o cognitivista, han tratado de explicar cómo la gente madura y cambia durante la vida. Estas teorías se han enfocado en etapas tempranas de vida – desde la niñez hasta la adolescencia – dejando la impresión que después de la adolescencia no hay saltos significativos en el desarrollo. Sin embargo, las investigaciones del desarrollo humano en los últimos veinte años han demostrado que la maduración es un proceso mucho más complejo y duradero de lo que se suponía antes. El objetivo de este trabajo fue, a través de un enfoque interdisciplinario, investigar la transición a la edad adulta a través de los resultados recientes de las investigaciones en el campo de neurociencia y psicología cognitiva sobre la maduración del cerebro y las habilidades cognitivas, a la vez teniendo en cuenta los límites tradicionales y legislativos de la edad adulta. En la primera parte del trabajo se discute sobre ciertas cuestiones relacionadas con cómo definir la edad adulta a través de los marcos sociales y legales. Luego investigamos en qué modo la maduración estructural y funcional prolongada del cerebro influye en las habilidades cognitivas, acentuando la necesidad y el valor de investigaciones del modo en el que estos cambios pueden influir en la toma de decisiones importantes durante la edad adulta temprana, y que pueden tener consecuencias a largo plazo. En fin, a base de las pruebas de investigaciones existentes, acentuamos la importancia de aceptar e integrar los hallazgos de diferentes disciplinas de investigación para entender mejor las fuerzas y la vulnerabilidad de personas jóvenes que están a punto de pasar a la edad adulta. ; Brojne su teorije razvojne psihologije, poput psihoanalitičke, biheviorističke ili kognitivističke, pokušale objasniti kako ljudi sazrijevaju i mijenjaju se tijekom života. Ove su teorije usmjerene na rane životne faze – od djetinjstva do adolescencije – ostavljajući dojam kako nakon adolescencije ne dolazi do značajnijih skokova u razvoju. Međutim, istraživanja su ljudskog razvoja u posljednjih 20-ak godina pokazala kako je sazrijevanje puno složenije te vremenski dugotrajnije nego se prethodno smatralo. Cilj je ovoga pregleda bio interdisciplinarnim pristupom istražiti pitanje prijelaza u odraslu dob prikazom najnovijih rezultata istraživanja o sazrijevanju mozga i kognitivnih sposobnosti iz područja neuroznanosti i kognitivne psihologije istovremeno razmatrajući tradicionalne i zakonom određene granice odraslosti. U prvom se dijelu rada raspravlja o određenim pitanjima vezanim uz definiranje razdoblja odraslosti kroz društvene i pravne okvire. Zatim se navodi kako produljeno strukturalno i funkcionalno sazrijevanje mozga utječe na kognitivne sposobnosti, naglašavajući potrebu i vrijednost istraživanja načinā na koje ove promjene mogu utjecati na donošenje važnih odluka tijekom rane odrasle dobi, a koje mogu imati dalekosežne posljedice. Konačno, na temelju se dokaza iz postojećih istraživanja ističe važnost prihvaćanja i integriranja nalaza iz različitih istraživačkih disciplina kako bi se bolje razumjela snaga i ranjivosti mladih osoba na pragu odrasle dobi.

The author looks into the concept of the "small nation" & whether it is high time for its scientific or linguistic revision. If "small nations" are a qualitative category, why define them quantitatively as "small"? Small nations gained independence in two waves: between the German-French war (1870-1871) & the end of WWI, & after the end of the Cold War in 1990. However, not all small nations gained independence (eg, Basques, Catalonians, Bretons). They pose a major challenge for Western Europe. The example of Croatia & its relationship with Serbs serves to illustrate the vacillations in the European ideology & attitudes toward small nations. The pressures exerted on the Croatian state regarding the political attitudes of the Croatian people toward small nations did not stem from the logic of globalist economism or neoliberal political doctrine but were the consequence of the war waged by the mother country of the Croatian Serbs (Serbia) with the aim of annexing the territories in which they were a majority population. 9 References. The paper deals with the political crisis of dualism in multi-ethnic Austria-Hungary caused by the strengthening political opposition of Hungarian magnates in the Hungarian Parliament, who demanded the introduction of the Hungarian language as command language of the Hungarian troops. The implication thereof was a separation of the joint army and a disproval of the joint supreme commander, Emperor Franz Josef. The Hungarian language issue was therefore primarily political, and in the final instance it meant further weakening of connections with the Western part of the Monarchy until the final Hungarian secession, but also a possibility of further Hungarisation within the Hungarian borders. The Emperor opposed this by announcing a new electoral law aimed at depriving the Hungarian minority of its supremacy over the non-Hungarian majority in Hungary. He was supported by the liberal party led by Istvan Tisza, who rightly estimated that dualism was first and foremost protective of Hungarian interests in Hungary. Fear of the new electoral law sobered up the Hungarian nationalists and they gave up on the revision of the Austro-Hungarian compromise. Subsequently, the Emperor, driven by immediate political interests, decided not to enact the law on universal suffrage in Hungary despite the fact that, under certain favourable political circumstances, which were, unfortunately, lacking, precisely such a law could potentially have become the foundation not for bringing down, but for preserving Austria-Hungary. The author looks into Buchanan's contribution to the contemporary political economy. His starting point is that Buchanan's concept of economy as exchange links political science & economics, showing that this is feasible, since Buchanan has rejected the theory of allocation, a standard in economics, & promoted the market theory based on exchange. The theory of allocation is dubious for Buchanan since it reduces the subject of economics to a set of problems & not to a characteristic form of human activity. That is why he uses the concept of the symbiotic, meaning the attitude based on the study of links among various actors that are beneficial for all. Buchanan's basic concept evolved & was shaped in the 1980s in the form of the constitutional political economy, which is an attempt to explain the possibilities of different legal-constitutional rules that determine the basic framework for selecting economic & political actors. The author claims that for political science, particularly important is the fact that Buchanan defines this type of political economy as a redux of the political in economics. In this way, on the one hand, it became questionable in economics as a discipline, & on the other, more acceptable for political science. However, the fact that Buchanan's work transcends the rigid boundaries of social disciplines does not mean that he unreservedly paves the way for political science. On the contrary, Buchanan is pursuing such a fundamental revision of the rigid boundaries among disciplines in social sciences that it may challenge the present status of political science. 31 References. U ovom su radu istražene promjene šumskoga pokrova tijekom druge polovice 19. st. na području Ravnih kotara. Polazište čine podaci o površinama šuma i šumovitih pašnjaka iz 1849. na razini ravnokotarskih katastarskih općina prve sustavne franciskanske izmjere te površine šume iz revizije katastra iz 1900. U istraživanju je korišten GIS program ArcMap kojim su podaci vizualizirani te su provedene metode prostorne analize temeljem Moranova I i Getis-Ordova Gi* koeficijenta. Rezultati upućuju na male udjele šuma na razini katastarskih općina i Ravnih kotara u cjelini 1849. i povećanje šuma do početka 20. st. Povećanje šuma posljedica je brojnih odredaba i zakona o zaštiti šuma koje su u Dalmaciji stupile na snagu tijekom druge polovice 19. st. Prisutna je i statistički značajna pozitivna i negativna grupiranost vrijednosti šumskih površina u manjem broju susjednih katastarskih općina iz čega proizlazi da su promjene šumskoga pokrova rezultat uglavnom slučajnoga, a ne sustavnoga djelovanja pojedinih čimbenika. ; The focus of this paper is forest cover change during the second half of the 19th century in the Ravni Kotari Region. The starting point for the research was data on forests and wooded pastures from 1849, based on Ravni Kotari cadastral municipalities of the first systematic Franciscan Survey and data on forest cover from the 1900 cadastre revision. GIS ArcMap software was used to visualise the forest cover and perform spatial pattern analysis using Moran's I and Getis-Ord Gi* statistics. The results indicated a small proportion of forests in Ravni Kotari cadastral municipalities and Ravni Kotari as a whole in 1849, but an increase in forest cover throughout the second half of the 19th century. Forest cover increase was a consequence of several legislative and institutional protection measures for forests, which came into effect in Dalmatia in the second half of the 19th century. Statistically significant positive and negative spatial autocorrelations of forest cover were present in some adjacent municipalities, indicating the mainly random influence of certain factors on forest changes in the Ravni Kotari Region.

The author analyzes the direction that the European Union has taken after the Nice conference. In order to create an appropriate & transparent competency system for the European Union, the priority on today's agenda are the models borrowed from the constitutions of different federal states. The first model is the so-called dual federalism that evolved in the US. This model aspires to strictly separate the European competency & the member countries' competency. The second option has been provided by the German Fundamental Law (Constitution). According to this model, the European Union would be accorded competences in line with the systematics of the exclusive, competitive & comprehensive legislation. The author is of the opinion that this would lead to a sort of formal transparency but would not completely prevent the overlapping of the competences of the Union, its member countries & other territorial units. A special focus is given to the transparency & efficacy of the reform process. Also, it is emphasized that a coherent coordination of the horizontal & vertical reform of the competency system is called for. Regarding democracy, the author thinks there is no need for a new model of democracy, but a systematic revision of the existing system of decision making in the European Union. Besides, a genuine democratization would not set its sights solely on reforming institutional regulation, but also on strengthening the mediation bodies. This would improve the relations between the public & the parliaments of the nation-states & the federal units concerning European issues. This would go hand in hand with an expansion of European party organizations & a more efficient "Europeanization" of central associations & institutions for interest-promotion. And finally, the author looks into the traditional boundaries between the private & the public. The public sector would take over from private economy some established procedures or would completely hand over certain tasks. This would require well-defined criteria. Also, an efficient control by parliaments & government bodies is necessary as a guarantee of innovation & cost-effectiveness & as a protection against abuse. This paper summarises some recent developments in INSPIRE implementation from the JRC (Joint Research Centre) point of view. The INSPIRE process started around 11 years ago and today, clear results and benefits can be seen. Spatial data are more accessible and shared more frequently between countries and at the European level. In addition to this, efficient, unified coordination and collaboration between different stakeholders and participants has been achieved, which is another great success. The JRC, as a scientific think-tank of the European Commission, has played a very important role in this process from the very beginning. This role is in line with its mission, which is to provide customer-driven scientific and technical support for the conception, development, implementation and monitoring of European Union (EU) policies. The JRC acts as the overall technical coordinator of INSPIRE, but it also carries out the activities necessary to support the coherent implementation of INSPIRE, by helping member states in the implementation process. Experiences drawn from collaboration and negotiation in each country and at the European level will be of great importance in the revision of the INSPIRE Directive, which is envisaged for 2014. Osim toga, ostvarena je učinkovita i jedinstvena koordinacija i suradnja između različitih subjekata i sudionika što je također velik uspjeh. JRC kao "znanstveni mozak" Europske komisije ima vrlo važnu ulogu u INSPIRE procesu od njegova početka. Ta je uloga u skladu s misijom JRC-a, a to je pružanje znanstvene i tehničke podrške u osmišljavanju, razvoju, implementaciji i praćenju politika Europske unije (EU). JRC je tehnički koordinator INSPIRE-a i zadužen je za pružanje podrške zemljama članicama u dosljednoj implementaciji INSPIRE-a. Iskustva u kolaboraciji i pregovorima s pojedinim zemljama kao i na europskoj razini imaju važnu ulogu u reviziji INSPIRE direktive, koja je predviđena u 2014. godini. U članku se opisuju i komparativno analiziraju građevni i urbanistički propisi u Hrvatskoj od 1956. do 1971., kad je načelno dovršen zakonodavni okvir jugoslavenskih i hrvatskih građevnih propisa. Analizirani propisi, koji su prvi put bili stručno publicirani u repetitoriju 1956. godine, ambivalentno su nastajali na službenoj negaciji građevnoga zakonodavstva Kraljevine Jugoslavije 1946. i neslužbenom korištenju većine ukinutih propisa sve do kraja 1960-ih. Kolokvijalno poznati pod suvremenim pojmom građevinska regulativa, analizirani propisi pokazuju određenu tehničku kompetentnost u člancima koji nisu zadirali u socijalističko društveno uređenje, ali i potpunu ovisnost o tom uređenju u ostalim paragrafima, poput procedura upravnoga postupka ili toleriranja bespravne izgradnje. ; The building regulation system that was initiated in 1850 with the adoption of the 'Regulation on the Admission of Civil Engineering Students and the Introduction of State Examinations in Civil Engineering' in the Austrian Empire was repealed in 1946, through the 'Law on the Invalidity of Legal Regulations Adopted Before 6 April 1941 and During the Enemy Occupation'. The new socialist building regulation system was created through the regulations of the Yugoslav government from 1947 on; it was acceptable to use certain repealed regulations until new ones were enacted, provided they did not conflict with the newly-created socialist legal system of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia. After the Federal Ministry of Construction was abolished in 1950, the technical regulations and standards were regulated at the federal level, while the administrative procedures and other legal regulations were gradually lowered to the level of the republics, including Croatia. So as to help architects, spatial planners, and other experts in the building process orient themselves in this jungle of regulations, architect Vladimir Šilhard (Schilchard) published the Revision Book of Building Regulations and Procedure in the P. R. of Croatia in the professional journal Čovjek i prostor (Man and Space) in 1956. This article also exhaustively presents and analyses the building regulations in the period from 1946, through Šilhard's unified compendium, to the enactment of the Zagreb City Master Plan in 1971. On the one hand, the 1960s period was a great challenge for adopting regulations, primarily due to the new way of building residential buildings, which were not encompassed by the then existing regulations. On the other hand, new urban legislation was needed after Zagreb spread over the river Sava to the south, where the Zagreb Fair and the first residential neighbourhoods were built, so that the city could maintain a sustainable appearance of modernity. In this sense, the master plan of 1971 represented the peak of city planning that had begun with a competition for the for the General Regulatory Basis in 1930–1931 and the enactment of the Building Regulations of 1940. The system of technical regulations and building regulation standards on the federal level was mostly complete by late 1971, and remained partially in force even after the Republic of Croatia declared its independence on 8 October 1991, lasting until Croatia joined the European Union on 1 July 2013.

The lndependent Democratic Party (Samostalna demokratska stranka) was one of the many political parties of pre-war Yugoslavia. Although it was not a large party as far as number o members was concerned, its role, and especially that of its leader Svetozar Pribićević, in the political life of the Yugoslav stace was very important. ln this paper the author deals with the party's foundation, development and activities, shows the characteristics of its programme, and its social and nacional basis. He restricts his exposition to the period of the Vidovdan Constitution, accunting for this by the fact that ater the institution of the dictatorship the organizational work of the party (and of all other political parties) and its activities in further political development had a special quality. The Independent Democratic Party was formed after a group of 14 delegates, with Svetozar Pribićević at their head had withdrawn from the Democratic Party in March 1924. The leaders of the new party stressed from the beginning that the basis of their policy was unitarism and centralism. Since the ideal of unitarism was expressed most strongly in the Vidovdan Constitution, the Independant Democrats emphasized the importance of the full application of that Constitution. This was the foundacion of their coalition with the Radicals and of the formation of the government of the National Block. When the Radicals saw that their agrement with the Independent Democratic Party and the enforcement of the Obznana against the Croatian Republican Peasant Party (Hrvatska republikanska seljačka stranka) did nat affect Radić's position, they broke off the alliance with Svetozar Pribićević and came to an understanding with Stjepan Radić. The Independent Democratic Party then became part of the opposition. Svetozar Pribićević started forming a large, general Yugoslav party, whose nucleus was to be the Independent Democratic Party. Thes did nat succeed. A struggle for unitarism and centralism remained the basic substance and prime aim of his political activities. Being in the opposition, however, he became more and more aware of manifestations of great-Serbian predominence. Realizing that centralism was not creating Yugoslav unity, but, on the contrary, was strengthening great-Serbian hegernony and bringing the country to a serious crisis, Svetozar Pribićević approached Stjepan Radić. Thus a political alliance between the Independent Democratic Party and the Croacian Peasant Party was formed, named the Peasant-Democratic Coalition (Seljačko-demokratska koalicija). The transformation of the Independent Democratic Party's programme started after the formation of the Peasant-Democratic Coalition. At the beginning a consistent enforcement of the Vidovdan Constitution and a respect for the law were demanded, but soon a demand was made for a revision of the Constitution and even its abolishion. This was expressed in particular after the assassinations in the Nacional Assembly. Before the proclamation of the Dictatorship formulations concerning the reorganization of the state had not been concrete enough, and left possibilities for various different interpretations. But after the manifest of January 6, 1929, the Independent Democratic Party explicitly proclaimed itself for federalism. Svetozar Pribićević himself, after emigrating from the country, even worked for a republican state.
