For the most part, electoral and party research today is centered on the behavior of voters in two or four major clusters that can be conventionally placed on a scale from left to right. On the same scale, there are smaller groups whose value of separation is often questioned. This paper focuses on one of these groups: we consider a segment of voters united on the basis of their support for right-wing liberal parties and try to identify the most significant determinants of their choice. Based on the existing concepts of voting and data from the European Social Survey, 2016–2018, we generalize possible predictors – party and political selfidentification, ideological stances, social setting and material status – up to three theories ('ideological core', 'defectors' and 'winners'), and test their plausibility using regression tools. Modeling results show that for a number of parameters the separation of new subgroup is justified. First, we reject the hypothesis of a strategic non-voting for right-liberals (on the contrary, respondents often "strategically" vote for them rather than for some personally closer party). Second, we find similar characteristics of the voter profile in different European countries; in particular, people who share the values of non-interference (associated with opposition to income redistribution and cultural restrictions) are more inclined to electorally back the liberal right. On the other hand, for a complete picture it is not enough to indicate ideological or cleavage preferences: the fact of voting is strongly influenced by person's socio-economic background, confirming the earlier remarks about certain "privileges" in this electoral segment.
The article is devoted right-wing populist movements in Germany, which are the direct consequence of the crisis of multicultural community. In their propaganda they speculate on the mood in the society, using Islamophobia as their main weapon. The phenomenon of Islamophobia, or criticism of Islam, as well as the fight against its growing influence, has been heating up on the territory of the EU and, in particular, in Germany, where it is connected with Muslim immigrants. The right-wing movements bring the refugee issue into focus of public attention to strengthen their position in the current political landscape. The subject of the research is the most active and significant right-wing populist movements in modern Germany. The article defines the term of right-wing populism, as well as the most favorable conditions for its occurrence. The paper features the history, political activity and the ideology of the right-wing populist movements in Germany. It also offers a brief outlook on the degree of influence of anti-Islamic attitude in the European and German society.
The article is devoted to the problem of relations between the leaders and members of right-wing salons and circles in the capital of the Russian Empire and Grigori Rasputin, a peasant who was then close to the royal family. In the pre-revolutionary years, conservative right-wing salons and circles continued to play a certain role in the political system of the country. Some of them appeared in the late 19th century (the salons of Prince V. Meshchersky, General E. Bogdanovich, and Countess S. Ignatieva), while others became active during the First World War (the salons of Prince M. Andronikov, Metropolitan Pitirim (Oknov) of Petrograd and Ladoga, the circle of N. Burdukov). Many of those associations tried to use Rasputin for their own purposes. They invited the "starets" to the salon meetings, held "spiritual conversations" with him, etc. Based on a set of historical sources (diaries, letters, memoirs, etc.), the author of the article has reconstructed the development of relations between the leaders and members of right-wing salons and circles of St Petersburg–Petrograd and Grigori Rasputin. The author concludes that their communication with Rasputin was mainly aimed at enlisting his support in exerting political influence on the Emperor. According to these sources, the "starets" was distrustful of the leaders of salons and circles and did not want to participate in their political games. The article chronologically retraces the evolution of those relations and concludes that the attitudes gradually changed towards greater distrust and sometimes towards open hostility (as was the case of the Petrograd right-wing monarchic salon of Prince M. Andronikov). It is emphasised that no real facts of influence on Tsarist policy through Rasputin were recorded in the sources. At the same time, allegations that Rasputin gave the Emperor various instructions at the suggestion of the leaders of right-wing salons and circles were published in numerous articles and news items of the liberal pre-revolutionary periodicals. In the author's opinion, in doing so, not only did the periodicals prepare the psychological ground for the murder of Rasputin, but they also discredited the monarchical idea itself.
Article retractedAbstract: In Hungary and Slovakia during 2010-2015 there has been an increase in xenophobic attitudes in society; rightwing and extremist groups are activating there as well. The purpose of this article is to compare the most signifi cant factors which encourage xenophobia. Previously we have identifi ed the types of right-wing organizations and found out their electoral characteristics. We assume that the activities of right-wing extremist organizations infl uence the formation of xenophobic social practices in Hungary and Slovakia, which arise from the range of factors. In this article we used empirical data gained as a result of public opinion polls conducted by the leading research centers in Hungary and Slovakia, by international organizations, as well as statistics of public authorities and civil society institutions. By means of factor analysis, we identifi ed the main directions and forms of activity of right-wing radicals; determined the value of socio-economic dynamics of the country's development; characterized the attitude of society, the law and the ruling elite to the problems of xenophobia and right-wing radicalism. Among the most infl uential factors we identifi ed: open propaganda of nationalist ideas; constitutional priority of the ethnic majority interests; parliamentary status of rightwing parties; condoning the activities of right-wing radicals by the ruling elite, the courts and the police. The comparison of factors stimulating xenophobic practices in Hungary and Slovakia didn't confi rm the hypothesis of common signifi cant infl uence of the economic crisis, lack of education and political passivity on the formation of xenophobic practices among young people. The professional frustration of provincial youth discovered itself as a cumulative socioeconomic factor.

DOI 10.14258/izvasu(2017)5-28 ; The article studies the ways the 1960s–1970s youth movement of Great Britain used to propagandize their ideas. The article analyzes the written sources of information, such as newspapers, leaflets, brochures, manifestos and the literature popular among youth protest supporters. It is clarified that the 1960s–1970s youth movement was not homogeneous. Conditionally, we can divide it into political and apolitical trends. Within these trends not all groups of youth movement, such as subcultures, student unions and youth wings of political parties, propagandized their ideas. Left-wing and rightwing youth organizations and unions can be included into the number of those who conducted propaganda. The main forms of propaganda they used were: publishing activity, agitation marches, rallies and demonstrations. Despite the fact that the left movement was more popular than the right movement, it could not destabilize the situation with propaganda methods due to the disunity of leftwing movement, such as Maoism, Trotskyism and "New Left" etc. Another reason was the existence of the Labour Party which collected most of the protest votes among the British youth.DOI 10.14258/izvasu(2017)5-28
