Nemogućnost dobivanja vozačke dozvole jedno je od važnih pitanja koja u osoba s epilepsijom vrlo negativno utječe na osjećaj kvalitete življenja. Međutim, jasno je da postoji veliki rizik od izazivanja prometne nezgode ako vozač dobije epileptički napadaj za vrijeme vožnje. Razlike u zakonskoj regulativi kojom se određuje jesu li osobe s epilepsijom sposobne upravljati motornim vozilima vrlo su velike između različitih država, u rasponu od potpune zabrane do kratkog intervala bez napadaja od samo tri mjeseca, kao npr. u nekim državama u SAD-u. Tijekom posljednjih nekoliko desetljeća u svjetskim razmjerima došlo je do znatnog napretka u otklanjanju neodgovarajućih restrikcija prilikom ostvarivanja prava na vozačku dozvolu u osoba s epilepsijom. Trend liberalizacije zasniva se na rezultatima istraživanja koji pokazuju da je rizik za sigurnost u prometu prihvatljiv ako se upravljanje motornim vozilima dopusti osobama s dobro kontroliranom epilepsijom. Čini se da će se sadašnji trend liberalizacije nastaviti, no potrebno je istovremeno provođenje kliničkih studija kojima će se nadgledati utjecaj liberalizacije propisa na sigurnost u prometu. ; The ability to drive is one of the greatest concerns of people with epilepsy (PwE) with a considerable impact on their quality of life. However, it is clear that there is a great risk of causing a traffic accident if a seizure occurs while a person is driving. There are great differences in legislations, which determine whether people with PwE are able to drive; they go from a complete ban in some countries to the seizure free interval of only three months that is required in some USA states. In the past few decades a great progress has been made in declining inappropriate restrictions for PwE in realizing their needs regarding driving. The trend of liberalization is based on the results of studies, which show that the risk for the public safety in traffic is acceptable, if individuals with well controlled epilepsy are allowed to drive. It seems that the current trend of liberalization will continue, but in the future, further clinical studies will be needed, which would be designed to monitor the influence of the liberalized regulations on traffic safety.

A considerable amount of research has been conducted to explore the effects of democracy on social outcomes. However, unequivocal conclusions regarding democracy's impact on health, education, life expectancy and other aspects of human well-being have not been achieved. Many democracies do not perform as good as they are expected to and are often outperformed by non-democratic regimes. Questions appear: How does political regime affect social performance? Is there a trade-off between democratization, on the one hand, and social development, on the other? The adoption and continued use of innovations by societies, organisations and individuals has been a subject of research since before the 1930s. A variety of different theories have been developed to account for the different speeds at which innovations are adopted and the factors that affect the adoption process. This paper reviews theories of the adoption of innovations with particular reference to the recent phenomenon of the e-book as a cultural innovation that is having an impact on individuals, organizations and national policy makers. The paper will suggest which theories are most appropriate for the different levels at which the innovation is employed. ; Usvajanje i kontinuirana upotreba inovacija od strane društva, organizacija i pojedinaca predmetom je istraživanja još od 1930-ih. Niz različitih teorija oblikovano je kako bi odgovorilo na različitu brzinu kojom se inovacije usvajaju i čimbenike koji utječu na taj proces. Ovaj rad razmatra teorije usvajanja inovacija s posebnim osvrtom na fenomen e-knjige kao kulturalnu inovaciju koja utječe na pojedince, organizacije te one koji stvaraju nacionalne politike. U radu će se predložiti teorije koje su najprikladnije za različite razine usvajanja inovacije.

Pojam policy središnji je pojam u praksi, jednako kao i u analizi javnog upravljanja, no rijetko kad je predmet velike teorijske pozornosti. On čini dio pretpostavljenoga svijeta stvari u kojem se neupitno pretpostavlja da je javno upravljanje koherentan, hijerarhijski i instrumentaliziran proces, a da je policy oblik izbora na temelju vlasti. Takvo predstavljanje upravljanja predmet je empirijskih i teorijskih kritika u kojima se vladavina u mnogo većoj mjeri prikazuje kao oblik strukturirane interakcije. No te kritike ne uspijevaju potkopati snagu dominantnoga prikaza policyja kao izbora na temelju vlasti. Stoga je središnje pitanje analize i prakse javnih politika pitanje odnosa tih dvaju suprotstavljenih prikaza. Za policy se tvrdi da kao polje proučavanja pripada političkoj znanosti, no u njegovu proučavanju ona se nadmeće s ekonomijom. Različiti dijelovi ekonomije i političke znanosti mobiliziraju se u analizi politika, pri čemu svaka od tih znanosti daje specifi čan doprinos oblikovanju analize procesa policyja. Instrumentalizirano oblikovanje policyja i njegove evaluacije dominantan su oblik glavnoga tijeka američkoga pristupa literaturi o policyju, no taj se pristup dovodi u pitanje sve većim usmjeravanjem pozornosti na specifičnosti organizacije i na tumačenje značenja pojma policy. Objedinjavanje takvih različitih pristupa u jedan zajednički pristup osnažuje analizu politika, no istodobno zahtijeva preispitivanje pretpostavki o mjestu javnih politika u procesu upravljanja. ; The concept of policy is a central element in both the practice and the analysis of governing, but it is rarely subject to much theoretical scrutiny. Članak donosi pregled ključnih pitanja vezanih za vanjsku politiku i teorije vanjske politike u širem kontekstu političke znanosti. Raspravljajući o izvorima i razvoju analize vanjske politike, kao i znanstvenim radovima na tu temu, autorica utvrđuje da analiza vanjske politike danas obuhvaća cijeli niz teorijskih pristupa i modela. Zajedničko im je razumijevanje da se ishodi vanjske politike ne mogu u potpunosti razumjeti ako se analiza ograniči na razinu cijelog sustava. Nadalje, rad konceptualizira vanjsku politiku kroz njezinu usporedbu s drugim tipovima policyja. Iako se u razdoblju Hladnoga rata vanjska politika poistovjećivala s vanjskom sigurnosnom politikom, autorica naglašava da je u današnjem globaliziranom svijetu sigurnosna politika tek jedna od njezinih dimenzija. Discussing the origins and development of foreign policy analysis (FPA), as well as scholarly work produced over time, it argues that today FPA encompasses a variety of theoretical approaches, models and tools. These share the understanding that foreign policy outputs cannot be fully explained if analysis is confined to the systemic level. Furthermore, this paper conceptualizes foreign policy by comparing it to other types of policy. Although during the Cold War period foreign policy was equated with foreign security policy, in today's world, security policy is only one dimension. Tradicionalne i osnovne misije sveučilišta, nastava i istraživanje sve se više proširuju. Treća misija sveučilišta je višedimenzionalan koncept koji poprima široke razmjere na svjetskom nivou. Kao cilj rada postavlja se proučavanje osnovnih sličnosti i razlika u pristupima trećoj misiji sveučilišta kada je riječ o američkim u odnosu na europska sveučilišta. Kao polazna osnova za usporedbu uzima se činjenica da treća misija sveučilišta svoje porijeklo ima na američkom kontinentu dok se nastanak sveučilišta vezuje za Europu. Cilj rada je konkretiziran na sljedeće zadatke: ispitati utjecaj globalnih obrazovnih politika na pristupe trećoj misiji sveučilišta; ispitati razlike u načinu funkcioniranja europskih u odnosu na američka sveučilišta; objasniti obrazovne implikacije provedbe treće misije na europskim sveučilištima. Kao zaključak rada ističe se da je neophodno razumijevanje globalnih društveno-ekonomskih utjecaja na proces visokog obrazovanja kako bi se sveobuhvatnije pristupilo obrazovnim reformama i načinima njihovog sprovođenja. Također, s obzirom na sudjelovanje sve brojnijih interesnih grupa u okviru realizacije treće misije sveučilišta, neminovno je razvijanje stavova o vrijednostima i načelima treće misije kod svih onih koji su uključeni u proces visokog obrazovanja. ; The traditional and basic missions of the university, teaching and research are expanding.
