This study aimed to explore factors affecting seniors' intention to relocate to a senior living facility. More specifically, the purpose of this study was to examine the influence of push and pull motivational factors and perceived barriers on seniors' intention to relocate to a senior living facility (SLF). In addition, the mediating role of perceived barriers on the relationships between push motivational factors and intention to relocate and pull motivational factors and intention to relocate were explored. The data of the study was collected from 363 seniors. Structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis was conducted to test the study hypotheses.The results indicated that health related, social and family/friend related, housing and property related push motivational factors and facility related pull motivational factor positively influenced seniors' intention to relocate to SLFs. In addition, the study results revealed that family related barriers, economic barriers, socio-psychological barriers, and knowledge and information barriers negatively affected seniors' intention to relocate to SLFs. In terms of the mediation effects, the study results indicated that (1) family related barriers mediated the positive relationship between health related push motivational factor and intention to relocate; (2) economic barriers mediated the positive relationship between facility related pull motivational factor and intention to relocate; (3) socio-psychological barriers mediated the positive relationship between health related push motivational factor and intention to relocate; and (4) socio-psychological barriers mediated the positive relationship between facility related pull motivational factor and intention to relocate. This article explores gender differences in the intentions to move among a sample of young adults in rural northeastern Thailand. Based on the value-expectancy framework of migration decisionmaking, an explanatory model is tested which includes migration-related value measures along with individual, household and community-level determinants of both intentions to move and change in intentions to move. Multinomial logistic regression results based on data from the 1992 Thailand National Migration Survey provide some support for the hypothesis of gender-specific determinants of both intentions to move and the reconsideration of migration intentions. For men, value measures of affiliation and comfort, social networks, the presence of young children in the family, and land holdings are significant determinants of migration decisionmaking; for women income and comfort values, the presence of elderly persons in the household, community size, and crop losses are the salient factors. The results are discussed in light of traditional and current cultural expectations for men and women in rural Thailand.

Entrepreneurs are motivated to start a business either by opportunities or necessity and entrepreneurial intention is defined as the will an individual has to start a business. This research analyzes the behavior, attitudes and perceptions of individuals, that are reflected in their motivations and entrepreneurial intentions. In order to investigate the impact of entrepreneurial motivations and intentions, the study was divided into two chapters. The results of the first chapter show that opportunity seeking is the main motivation of entrepreneurs, regardless of the economic development level of their countries. This analysis suggests that countries aiming to promote entrepreneurship should develop policies that foster entrepreneurial opportunities. For this analysis, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) database was used, in particular the Adult Population Survey (APS), for the period between 2010 and 2016 supported by multivariate statistical techniques, such as crosstab, linear regression, cluster and discriminant analysis. In the second chapter, on entrepreneurial intentions, statistical analysis show that the perception of perceived opportunities and capacities, the need for personal fulfillment, risk attitude and culture are characteristics that influence entrepreneurial intentions. In turn, innovation, from 2002 to 2016, had no effect on entrepreneurial intentions. In the literature, culture is referred as being a determinant in the individuals' behavior. Our results show that Hofstede's cultural dimensions influence motivations of opportunitymotivated entrepreneurs negatively, namely: power distance index, uncertainty avoidance index, indulgence versus restraint, fear of failure rate. However, indulgence versus restraint has a positive impact in opportunity entrepreneurship. For this study, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) database was also used, in particular the Adult Population Survey (APS) between 2002 and 2016 and the Hofstede database for the year 2015 and these data was subject to linear regression, cluster and discriminant analysis. This study contributes a better understanding of the factors that influence the motivations and intentions of the entrepreneurs, which are important for politicymakers and researchers to design adequate measures.

Implementation of China's family planning policy fundamentally changed the traditional core family structure. The family size has become ever smaller, breaking the traditional family model in which three-generation or even four-generation cohabitate. The 4-2-1 family structure (4 grandparents, 2 parents, and 1 child) has become mainstream. This has caused an explosion of senior family and elderly living alone, which now represents a significant social issue in China. The Chinese government has recognized and responded to the lonely elder problem by creating the so-called Senior Citizen University. The SCU serves as a welcome place in the community, for elder entertainment, study and gathering during the day. Nevertheless, the seniors are still living and dining alone most of the time; the pleasures of SCU are temporary. Though a positive step, the Senior University is not enough as a response to the lonely elder issue. It is time to recognize the challenges that our elders face, through a multi-experience participatory exhibition that brings generations together. Senior Citizen University of Fengxian District, Shanghai, is both part of the solution, and not enough. The proposed exhibition is situated on the ground level of the SCU and targets a youth audience. Certain types of exhibitions, especially ones that include different forms of participation, are powerful tools to communicate larger issues to visitors. Exhibitions make visitors aware, they raise questions and ultimately, they can contribute to change our society. This new experience will bring together young and old by using didactic, experiential, and participatory methods. To travel from different sections of the exhibition, visitors are guided by a senior volunteer. In the first outdoor didactic section, young visitors are accompanied by their senior volunteers. They will have the opportunity to read information and communicate with their elder guide about contemporary issues facing by senior citizens. Then, entering the second part of the exhibition, they will go through a psychological and physical experience which addresses some of the main challenges of being a senior. In the section, which requires direct participation. Visitors will learn traditional Chinese crafts from the seniors, take part in activities and communicate with the old. The pieces made during the intergenerational workshops will be displayed in the same gallery. Both the experiential and participatory parts of the exhibition will encourage interaction and communication between the young visitor and senior guide. In this way, the young generation may develop an in-depth emotional connection and reflect on the return of the lost tradition of families living together.

Entrepreneurship has become an important agenda in the Malaysian Education System. The Malaysian government has started to embark on entrepreneurship development among students. It is proven with huge budget allocated by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in order to drive entrepreneurship activities among the students in the universities. All activities conducted are to increase students' intentions and motivation to be entrepreneurs. It is very important to the university to know about the final year students' intentions to choose entrepreneurship as their profession in the future. MOHE targets about 6,000 graduates to become entrepreneurs in 2013-2015 from the implementation of Entrepreneurial Strategic Plans 2013-2015. Due to that, this study was conducted to identify the intentions and motivations toward entrepreneurship among the final year students from two UiTM campuses (UiTM Pahang and UiTM Melaka). The overall results showed the intentions to be entrepreneurs among the students from two campuses were positive. UiTM Pahang final year students were motivated to be entrepreneurs because they wanted to be their own boss, and the UiTM Melaka final year students wanted to realize their own dreams to become entrepreneurs. The students' intentions and motivations towards entrepreneurship are very important not only to the universities, but also for the nation and the country as a whole. These findings may assist UiTM Pahang and UiTM Melaka to create more opportunities for their students to get involved in businesses by continually supporting entrepreneurship development. Besides, the aim of MOHE to produce 6,000 entrepreneurs within 2013-2015 can be achieved.

This is the second and final report for the Cooperative Research Centre for Low Carbon Living research project RP3038, Lower income barriers to low carbon living. The first report, Summary of focus group and survey findings (Liu & Judd 2016), detailed the findings from our focus group discussions with lower income households across four Australian jurisdictions. This final report focuses on the suggestions put forward by these lower income households during the focus group discussions and the stakeholders during their interviews on how assistance programs relating specifically to low carbon living may be improved. These suggestions were collated, categorised and discussed with policymakers and service providers in four policy workshops in August 2016, the outcomes of which are detailed in this final report.Overall, policy suggestions could be broadly grouped into three categories (information format and distribution, financial assistance, and political will and leadership), encompassing ten topics in total. These categories and topics are included in Appendix 1 and discussed in greater detail later in this report.

AbstractThe objective of this article is to find out why immigrants intend to stay in or leave their initial destination. The insight into such factors could help develop policy measures to deal with potential out‐migration, especially from the regions that view international migration as a solution to their demographic and economic difficulties. The study uses multinomial logistic regression to estimate the strength of association between migrants' intention to move and immigration category, human capital, economic and social factors. The data come from the Longitudinal Survey of Immigrants to Australia. The findings show that different groups of migrants have different propensities to move or stay in their initial destination. Employer‐sponsored migrants are even less likely to intend to relocate than family class. Highly educated and skilled migrants tend to be more likely to express the intention to move or have doubts. Satisfactory employment has a positive impact on retention.
