This note aims to make a critical reading of the book After method. Mess in social science research, written by John Law. To this end, the plot of the play will be presented, using criteria analysisidentifying the ontological, epistemological and methodological foundations that support it. John Law is one of the main authors of the actor-network theory, known in Argentina in the field ofsociology of science and technology but with little integration in the area of research methodology. In this text - published only in English- he proposes to conduct a review of the state of scientificmethods in general, but with particular emphasis on the social sciences. His proposal is based on a profound critique of hegemonic epistemology and methodology and warns the limitations of eachmethod: parts of the world are captured by the methods but other parts are not, and if they are, they often do distorting them. Throughout the book, Law will stress, will question, or will cancelsuch epistemological assumptions. For it will use various specific research, which described in detail and to analyze aided by contributions from different philosophical and epistemological critics'perspectives. Analyzing different practices of knowledge (scientific and non-scientific), Law shows each politics and ethics dimension, it reveals the different ontological, epistemological and methodological regimes they programs begin. ; Esta nota tiene por objetivo realizar una lectura crítica del libro After method. Se ha evidenciado un bajo uso de métodos y técnicas cuantitativas en investigaciones académicas de las Ciencias Sociales, con excepción de la Economía. El objetivo del capítulo es establecer cuáles son las razones que llevan esta baja aplicación y mostrar dos experiencias de uso de técnicas cuantitativas como los números índice –NI- y el análisis de contenido –AC. El método usado es cualitativo y cuantitativo a la vez, con el uso de fuentes primarias y secundarias y la aplicación de técnicas como la entrevista, la revisión documental, los NI y el AC. Se concluye que el escaso uso de las técnicas cuantitativas obedece a un desconocimiento de estas herramientas por parte de los investigadores, antes que a una desconfianza o bajo interés sobre las mismas; respecto los NI, se demostró cómo esta técnica permite asignar un solo número o dato a un conjunto de variables y permitiendo valorar y comparar en conjunto una categoría o unidad de análisis, facilitando la generalización de los resultados; por su parte, el AC permite mostrar el comportamiento de diferentes variables en el discurso oficial o político a lo largo de un periodo significativo, mostrando porcentajes de registro que señalan el grado de importancia que se les concede. ; There has been a low use of quantitative methods and techniques in Social Sciences research with the exception of Economics. The aim of the paper is to establish the reasons for this low application and show two experiences of using quantitative techniques such as index numbers -NI- and content analysis -AC. Both qualitative and quantitative method were used with primary and secondary sources and research techniques such as interview, documentary review, NI and CA. It is concluded that the low use of quantitative techniques is due to ignorance of these tools by researchers, rather than a lack of confidence or interest in them; regarding to the NI, it was demonstrated how this technique allows to assign a single number or data to a set of variables allowing to assess and compare a category or unit of analysis together, facilitating the generalization of results; On the other hand, CA allows showing the different variables behavior in the official or political discourse over a significant period, showing percentages of registration that indicate the degree of importance that is granted to them.

El Mercado Comun Centroamericano (MCCA), iniciado en 1960, fue objeto de numerosos estudios y analisis. El presente volumen trata de revisar el nuevo proceso de integracion regional que se esta desarrollando en la decada de los noventa y que hasta ahora ha sido poco analizado. Los diferentes capitulos en el libro examinan tanto los logros como las limitaciones del nuevo Mercado Comun Centroamericano, tratando temas como el comercio intrarregional, el comercio intraindustrial, el comercio agricola, la cooperacion ambiental y la relacion del MCCA con otros proyectos de integracion en el hemisferio. En la ultima parte del volumen se analizan las instituciones, la sociedad y la politica en el contexto de la integracion regional. (DÜI-Huj)

Fake news has begun to play a major role at the political, social, media, and even scientific level. In this work, a systematic review of the studies carried out to date on fake news has been developed starting from the main databases (Web of Science, Dialnet Plus), with the aim of verifying which topics have attracted the attention of the scientific community in this regard, what research techniques have been used in these studies, where these are geographically concentrated, and what fields still need to be investigated regarding this phenomenon. This study shows that there is still a long way to go, especially in the Ibero-American sphere that appears quantitatively less represented in the context of scientific production on fake news. ; Las noticias falsas o fake news vienen ocupando un papel protagonista a nivel político, social, mediático y también, científico. En este trabajo se desarrolla una revisión sistematizada de los estudios realizados hasta la fecha sobre las noticias falsas, partiendo de las principales bases de datos (Web of Science, Dialnet Plus) y con el fin de verificar qué temas han atraído la atención de la comunidad científica al respecto, qué técnicas de investigación se han utilizado en estos estudios, dónde se concentran geográficamente y qué campos quedan aún por cubrir en torno a este fenómeno. El estudio realizado refleja que aún queda camino por recorrer, en especial, en el ámbito iberoamericano que aparece menos representado dentro de la producción científica sobre las noticias falsas.

El presente trabajo se propone brindar una introducción crítica y sistemática a la metodología de modelado y simulación computacional en ciencias sociales. El uso de métodos computacionales para simular procesos sociales se ha expandido con vigor en los últimos veinte años en las distintas disciplinas de las ciencias sociales; sin embargo, continúa siendo una metodología poco conocida y empleada por los investigadores sociales en América Latina. El objetivo de este trabajo es contribuir a la reflexión epistemológica, teórica y metodológica de la simulación computacional en ciencias sociales, atendiendo a la dimensión política que atraviesa toda praxis científica. ; The current work aims to develop a critical and systematic introduction to computer modeling and simulation methodology in the social sciences. The use of computational methods to simulate social processes has been largely increased during the last twenty years in all social sciences disciplines; however; computer modeling and simulation continues to be extensively unknown and little used by social researches in Latin America. The goal of this work is to contribute to develop an epistemological, theoretical and methodological analysis of computer simulation in social sciences, taking into account the political dimension underlying all scientific praxis. ; Este artigo tem como objetivo fornecer uma introdução crítica e sistemática à metodologia de modelagem e simulação computacional na introdução das ciências sociais. From the view of what Brown (2001) calls "Scientific Orthodoxy" three arguments stated by Chavarría (2001) in her introducing of the complexity paradigm are critically analyzed: 1. The modern scientific advances have demonstrated that objectivity in science is impossible and reality is uncertain and indeterminate; 2. The validity of scientific knowledge does not depend (or does not only depend) on cognitive criteria but essentially on social and political criteria, and 3. Scientific orthodoxy supports a methodological view of science, and the shortcomings and insufficiencies in the practice of many researchers (for example, lack of theory) are inherent features of quantitative and objective research. Therefore, it is concluded that education and training in social research cannot be based on a relativist view of reality and knowledge and on the confusing of science and ideology. ; Desde la visión de lo que Brown (2001) denomina "Ortodoxia Científica" se analizan críticamente tres argumentos establecidos por Chavarría (2011) en su presentación del paradigma de la complejidad: 1. Los avances de la ciencia moderna han demostrado que la objetividad científica es imposible y que la realidad está sujeta a formas irreductibles de incertidumbre e indeterminismo; 2. La validez del conocimiento científico no depende de (o sólo de) criterios cognoscitivos, sino esencialmente sociales y políticos y 3. La Ortodoxia Científica propugna una concepción metodológica de la ciencia y las limitaciones e insuficiencias en la práctica de muchos investigadores (por ejemplo, la pobreza teórica) es un rasgo inherente de las investigaciones cuantitativas y objetivas. A partir de dicho análisis, se concluye que la formación en investigación social no puede sustentarse en una visión relativista de la realidad y del conocimiento y en la confusión entre ciencia e ideología.
