Security is one of the most basic needs of a society. The concept of security in general means protection from all kinds of dangers and accidents. On the other hand, the concept of security is broken down into more specific, clearer and more understandable components. The issue of security has been a subject to be examined by many sciences, especially sociology. Security, as a subject of study, in sociology has many different definitions, dimensions and elements. The sociology of security is still very young. Due to the lack of scientific wealth on this subject, some believe that security can be the subject of political sociology or the sociology of war. In sociological discussions, security is a subject to be examined at the level of society, in the relations between people (in the context of political and social relations). In this respect, security is based on social factors. Therefore, in this study, we will try to answer questions like "What is Security Sociology" and "What elements is it based on?".

; In recent years regional development and the movement is given priority by activating the local dynamics. Książka stanowi tom studiów autorstwa polskich i zagranicznych językoznawców poświęcony zmianom we współczesnych językach słowiańskich, szczególnie widocznym w słownictwie i słowotwórstwie. Uwzględnienie aspektu stylowo-funkcjonalnego w rozwoju leksyki pozwala lepiej zrozumieć dynamikę zmian językowych i skuteczność działań komunikacyjnych. Prace zostały pogrupowane w trzy działy tematyczne: - Zjawiska, procesy i tendencje rozwojowe w słownictwie specjalistycznym (terminologii); - Dynamika mechanizmów słowotwórczych i leksykalnych; - Zmiany leksykalne we współczesnej komunikacji językowej i dyskursie. W większości prac zastosowano podejście konfrontatywne, pozostałe stanowią podstawę do takiego ujęcia. Do badań wykorzystany został bogaty materiał języków słowiańskich: polskiego, czeskiego, słowackiego, białoruskiego, rosyjskiego, ukraińskiego, bułgarskiego, słoweńskiego, a także innych języków, jak np. nowogreckiego. ; This volume of studies by Polish and international linguists is devoted to changes in modern Slavic languages, which are especially noticeable in the spheres of vocabulary and word formation. Taking into consideration the stylistic and functional aspect of lexis development allows for a better understanding of the dynamics of language change and the efficacy of communicational acts. The purposeful and pragmatic character of communicational behaviour manifests itself widely in the social, political and cultural contexts considered by the Authors. The works comprising the volume are divided into three thematic sections: - Phenomena, processes and tendencies in the development of specialist lexis (terminology); - Word formation and lexical mechanisms dynamics; - Lexical change in modern language communication and discourse. The sections help organize the volume by highlighting the dominant theme in particular texts. The scopes of the sections are, nevertheless, not sharply delineated – each section is to an equal extent devoted to the complex and multifaceted subject-matter of the tendencies and changes in modern Slavic vocabulary. Most of the works comprised in the volume adopt a contrastive approach, the remaining ones can serve as bases for contrastive studies. The text analyse the rich material of the Slavic languages – Polish, Czech, Slovak, Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Slovene – as well as of other languages, like Modern Greek. ; Publikacja finansowana ze środków Instytutu Slawistyki Polskiej Akademii Nauk
ABSTRACTThe social dimension of the Community exists since the inception of the European integration process. However, as the primary rationale of the Community was economic integration among the member states in order to create an effective internal market within the Community in the initial phases, the role of social policy in overall Community policy was minor. There has never been consensus among the member states as to the role of the Community in the social field. However, in time, the member states of the Community perceived the necessity of effective social polices for the accomplishment of economic integration. Thus, increased attention was paid to the social dimension of the Community, with a clear commitment to its development from the late 1980s. This idea for an active social policy, which began to gain political support in the late 1980s, continued its progress with the successive Treaty revisions throughout the European integration process. In parallel to this progressive historical development of European Union (EU) social policy, there has been a transformation in the legal and governance aspects of social policy, starting with the Single European Act (SEA). Although the social policy field is still within the domain of the member states, especially in the 1990s, there has been a transformation in the governance of EU social policy from a hierarchical mode of governance to a non-hierarchical mode of governance, producing soft law rather than the regulatory mode of hard law. According to the governance approach, multiple actors at multiple levels of the EU are involved in the social policy-making process with deliberation and problem-solving efforts. This development of EU social policy paves the way towards the European social dialogue through the active involvement of the European social partners in the social policy-making procedure. In that regard, the European social dialogue has been on the EU's agenda since 1985, when it was initiated with the 'Val Duchesse' talks under the presidency of Delors. With the institutionalization of the European social dialogue process through the Maastricht and Amsterdam Treaties, the influence of the European social dialogue has increased from merely issuing non-binding joint opinions to the point where it now makes framework agreements implemented by Council decision and monitored by the Commission. In this incremental development of the European social dialogue, the role of the social partners as the core actors of the process has come to the fore, since their representation at European level is important for the institutionalization of the social dialogue at European level. Thus, since the Maastricht Treaty, the European social partners, which represent trade union and employer organizations, has enjoyed an institutional role in the policy-making process and can negotiate legally binding agreements on labour market issues. Moreover, the power of the social partners has been enhanced with the Laeken European Council, when they were granted greater independence in the preparation and implementation of 'autonomous agreements'. In this context, the study explores the extent of the influence of the European social dialogue and the role of the social partners in EU social policy-making procedure with reference to governance in the EU. It is notable that, despite the limited outcomes of the European social dialogue process regarding binding legislation, the limited scope of the European social dialogue, the limited influence of the EU institutional framework on the social dialogue, and the deficiencies in the representative structures of the social partners, the European social dialogue is a significant part of EU social policy in terms of its contribution to its legitimacy. In that regard, the European social dialogue has emerged not only as one of the vital parts of the European social model, which comprises the concepts of compromise, consensus, and cooperation, but also as an important mechanism in the general framework of European governance and democratization of the EU. Key Words:EU social policy, EU/ European social policy governance, European social dialogue, European social partners
Nikos Potamianos, The Radical Right and the Agrarian Question in the Early 20th Century. The Case of Christovassilis and the "Hellenism Asosociation"The subject of this article is an aspect of the history of the radical right in Greece, namely its intellectual and political response to the agrarian question which emerged in Greece at the end of the 19th century after the incorporation of new provinces where large landownership was predominant. In particular, the arguments and theses of a cadre of the biggest nationalist league of Athens in 1907 are examined, in contrast to its earlier views on the agrarian question and in contrast to the discourse of the radical supporters of the sharecroppers as well as the landowners. Christovassilis adopts a pro-peasant stand, attacking capitalist landowners and indirectly proposing the purchase of the land by its cultivators with the assistance of the state. However, his main aim was to prove that parliamentary democracy was incapable of improving the sharecroppers' situation, a task which only an authoritarian state could accomplish. Crucial in Christovassilis' arguments was the use of nationalist discourse in order to legalize sharecroppers' demands: he linked the peasants' struggle for land in the past with the national conflict with the Ottoman conquerors, equating land with fatherland and, therefore, the ownership of land of Thessaly with the peasants' participation in the nation. Christovassilis' earlier views which put emphasis on the social aspects of the agrarian question gave way to the pre-ponderance of the nationalist argument, which was in turn related to other aspects of the ideology of the radical right. "Hellenism" followed a strategy of appealing to the mobilized subordinate classes — but without totally adopting their point of view. It was always clear that the viewpoint of the association was that of paternalism, not of emancipation. One of the points of its criticism against the democratic state was that the latter was not powerful enough torepress the impending peasant revolt. The restoration of law and orderwas for the radical right more important than the improvement of the living conditions of the lower strata. And the adoption of popular demands, in general, proved to be merely rhetoric: when the class struggle became more intense, especially in the case of the agrarian movementof 1910, "Hellenism" remained aloof. ; Nikos Potamianos, The Radical Right and the Agrarian Question in the Early 20th Century. ; Understanding monetary phenomena does not only require a pure economical research but an examination of money through it's various social, ideological and political aspects. Literature may provide a framework for a fruitful investigation of these aspects of past and present life. This article tries to find monetary traces in the 19th and early 20th century Greek literature. The circulation of foreign and domestic metallic currencies, as it emerge from the texts of various writers of the time (Palaiologos, Calligas, Vikelas, Carcavitsas, Theotokis, Papadiamantis, Mirivilis, etc.), the role of Turkish currencies, the social evaluation of the drachma, the apparition of token currencies and the penetration of paper money in daily transactions, are few of the issues that this investigation involves.
; In the years 1830-1860 the formation of the newly established Greek State was based theoretically and practically on the political views of 19th century European liberalism. In accordance to the liberal beliefs, the Greek state political power was based on a small section of the adult male population. This section disposed additional economic and cultural qualifications compared to the rest of the population of the country. It is worthnoting that only to the above mentioned section of the population the state recognized full civil and political rights. In this context the term eligible citizens is used to describe those social strata which held the above mentioned special qualifications. In view of these qualifications the eligible citizens could not only exercise their electoral rights but they could be also elected or appointed as political, magisterial or administrative officials. Within the framework of the historical study of social stratification in the Greek society, during the period 1830-1860, it is worth concentrating on the analysis of historical sources relevant to the eligible citizens. These sources should supply information about the economic and cultural characteristics of these citizens. Based on this type of approach we present in this study the catalogues of candidate jurymen in the period 1849-1861 concentrating on the analysis of the year 1860. These catalogues constitute an important source of information about the characteristics of the eligible citizens. The candidate jurymen catalogues, for the year 1860, include information regarding the value of estate property, income, profession, age and place of inhabitancy for 8.337 adult men. These men amount to the 3.4% of the over 25 years old male population of the country in 1860. The quantitative analysis of the above mentioned catalogues led to the following general conclusions: In 1860 the greatest percentage of the eligible citizens derived from the middle social strata of property owners and income earners. These strata included mainly land owners, wealthy farmers and merchants. But there was also a much smaller section of social strata of wealthy men who possessed a relatively large amount of estate property and income of the country. The sharp economic inequality observed among the eligible citizens of the country permits the assumption that there was also among them a sharp social inequality. According to this we propose the continuation of the research with a more detailled study. This study will examine particular aspects of economic and social inequalities between the lower, the middle and the higher social strata. The same study will also examine in detail the regional aspect of these inequalities.
; Kostas E. Lambrinos, Nobles and Cittadini in the Community of Venetian Sitia. Social Fermentations and Rearrangements (late sixteenth-seventeenth century) This study highlights the community of upper social class in Sitia, a small town in eastern Crete, in the late period of the Venetian dominion. Using new evidence from the State Archives of Venice, the article examines unknown aspects of the topic, such as the social identity of the community council (the so-called consiglio della comunità), the political functions and the evolution of this body, its internal social rearrangements and its particularities by comparison with the community dynamics in the other Cretan towns. The archival data indicate that this socio-political organ played a central role in local public life, but had a secondary position within the Venetian political system. Regarding its social composition, the community originally consisted of nobles-feudatories, according to the model of strict social organization in the island under Venetian rule. However, multiple factors of crucial importance, such as the small number of nobles in Sitia, the inadequate fortification of the town and the increasing financial needs of this region, had a catalytic effect on the local social fabric and, consequently, on the structure of the community: in the early seventeenth century it lost its aristocratic profile and acquired characteristics, which differentiate it from the other community entities of Crete. This decisive evolution occurred with the social advancement of the cittadini. Τhis intermediate social group acquired, with the consent of the Venetian authorities, the right to participate in the community in order to meet government targets in this politically sensitive area of the island. Hereinafter the cittadini had an increasingly strong presence in the community processes, gained more social power and enjoyed privileges previously monopolized by the aristocracy.
According to Plato, a good state administration ("best"/ideal state) can only be combined with a good society ("best"/ideal society), and a good society can only be achieved with a good education ("best"/ideal education). He saw it as possible: "It must be able to be turned towards the most luminous aspect of existence, the direction we call -good-, right? Yes, education is the art of turning this power of the soul - for the good - and finding the easiest and most unfailing way for it. Education only leads him to the good side. It is up to us, the founders of the state, to lead people towards the knowledge of what we regard as the highest, to bring them out of the darkness into the light" (p.236-237). Since education is an idea-based and therefore an "ideological device" (Althusser, 2010), it acts as a kind of bridge between the state and society (Wiborg, 2000). This is the importance of analyzing Plato's Republic in terms of education policies.

However, its impact has been felt on all aspect of human endeavour; social economic and political. In Nigeria, the pandemic has affects security governance due to pivoted role assigned security agencies in the enforcement of restriction of movement and lockdown imposed by the federal government of Nigeria. The security agencies involved has not been limited to police but it include both military and paramilitary as the case may be. In the midst of continues spread of diseasesand multiplicity of security agencies, security governance became a serious issues. Through the government adopted a pragmatic approached, the result has been of mix blessing. It is in light of the above that the paper examines security, government in theCOVID-19 pandemic periodusing Nigeria as a case study.
--- The civil society is a concept that has been discussed for many years. When examined, civil society is the whole of the work done for people to come together and produce social benefits. The social benefit here is produced independently of the state. It is possible to see that the concrete form of organization of civil society in Turkey has increased over the last thirty years although it began after the multiparty era. This thesis deals the concept of civil society as it is addressed in the discussion of this concept forms in the West and Turkey. The course of the non-governmental organizations that produce social benefits in the direction of "religion" and "faith", has been tried to be discussed with the political, economic and social aspects of the periods among the development of Turkey in this historical process. The progress and movement areas' limits of the faith-based NGOs in Turkish modernization; especially with therapid change after 1980 and the integration of faith-based NGOS to the transformation have been tried to analyzed. The focus point is the increase in the fields of action of NGOs among the public area with the economic libelarization after 1980 in Turkey. In particular, the increase in the number of non-governmental organizations based on beliefs and their fields of activity, together with the opportunities offered by political actors after 2002, can be seen in the annual reports of the institutions. It is an indisputable fact that Islamic groups, post-1980 and post-2002 when social studies were increased, were highly effective in every field. For this reason, it is a necessity to examine the activities of the Islamic and religious circles towards the society on the basis of non-governmental organizations. However, as can be seen at the beginning of the research, faith-based non-governmental organizations also have certain distinctions within themselves. While there are advancing faith-based non-governmental organizations focused on religious education, there are also community-based advancing faith-based non-governmental organizations in our country. In this sense, within the scope of faith-based non-governmental organizations, two separate non-governmental organizations based on the community and society were tried to be searched on the axis of Islam-civil society. In this context, two non-governmental organizations, İlim Yayma Society which has a society-based perspective and Hakyol Foundation which has a community-based perspective, have been examined. The activity fields of these organizations, their contributions to society and their dynamism in the modern period have been tried to be analyzed. When the studies and projects of both institutions were examined, it was concluded that they contributed positively in terms of producing benefit to society in national and international lenses.
