The Theory of the Elite in the United States: the Social Conditions Governing Reception and Appropriation. The aim of this article is to analyse the reception given in the US to two works considered to be the original sources of the theory of the elite: the Trattato di sociologia generále by Vilfredo Pareto and the Elementi di scienza politica by Gaetano Mosca. Unlike Italy, where the elitist thesis was appropriated by groups attacking the parliamentary system and demanding a government by force, in the United States. V. Pareto and especially G. Mosca were read not as critics of democracy in general, but rather as realistic thinkers, demystifiers of the classical notion of democracy and as the very basis for a pluralist outlook. The distance separating these viewpoints is what the article seeks to understand.
The aim of this research is to analyze the processes established to modify behaviors and make them more sustainable, in everyday practices of consumption and waste management. We want to know whether the currently recognized values alone are explanatory of changing behaviors, and whether there are strong constraints involved in adopting more sustainable practices. In view of the current concern with environmental issues, we studied a procedure in participatory democracy designed to change participants' behavior. Secondly, we analyzed current theories in social sciences in order to identify forces other than this political one. The research shows that participatory democracy results from intellectual actors or idealistic activists, who try to solve problems of political legitimacy, trust, and efficiency. But their idealism, which sparks the start of the action, faces strong constraints, requires adjustments to their ideal. These adjustments explain why changes of behavior are limited, which may discourage pioneers and activists, or alter the imaginary of "eco-Fascists", utopians, or authoritarians. In analyzing the theories of action in social sciences, we also observed the importance of scales of observation: the micro-Individual level and micro-Social level (in particular domestic space and practices) cannot be analyzed alone. They are embedded in the meso- and macro-Social levels, which highlight eigenvalues and the effects of membership and social regulation in daily practices.

The conditions of single mothers dealing with breakdown of social policies in Morocco Faced with a standard-setting arrangement and cultural framework of reference which prohibit sex and childbearing outside marriage, single mothers in Morocco lead a difficult life marked by social stigmatisation and precarious living conditions. A historical perspective " demystifies" the experience of single motherhood that has always been experienced by women, but managed differently depending on the specific features of each era. Single motherhood, until now disguised so as to cover up the transgression it represents, is now perceived less as a taboo but still as an assault on the established order and on social expectations. For these marginal but now visible situations, which mainly involve women living precariously, what is the situation now with regard to state support ? This article questions the thinking that underpins social policies supporting vulnerable women in Morocco.
