Dünyanın kanıtlanmış en büyük ham petrol rezervine sahip Venezuela'da, petrol gelirleri, tarih boyunca ülkenin hem ekonomik hem de siyasi gelişmelerinde önemli rol oynamıştır. 1958 yılında Punto Fijo Paktını imzalayan ülke elitleri, seçimleri kimin kazandığına bakmaksızın, petrol gelirlerini kendi aralarında paylaşmışlar, böylece ülkede petrol gelirlerinin paylaşılamaması üzerine ortaya çıkabilecek olası çatışmaların önüne geçmişlerdir. Ancak 1998 yılında Hugo Chavez'in ülke başkanı olarak seçilmesi bu 40 yıllık dönemi sona erdirmiştir. Hugo Chavez, ülkedeki petrolü kamulaştırmak suretiyle petrol gelirlerini Punto Fijo elitlerinden almıştır; böylece Venezuela'da 1998 yılında başlayan ve halen devam eden politik çatışma ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Venezuela'da uzun yıllardır devam eden devlet-içi çatışmalar üzerine vaka çalışması metodunu kullanarak kapsamlı bir analiz yapmaktır. Söz konusu çatışmaların faktörleri üzerine literatürdeki baskın görüş çatışmanın toplumsal kutuplaşmaları içeren sosyal bir çatışma olduğu görüşüdür. Bu çalışmada ise çatışmanın sosyal değil, çevresel faktörleri (petrol gelirleri) içeren politik bir çatışma olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. ; Venezuela has the world's largest proven crude oil reserves. Oil revenues has played an important role in both economic and political development of the country. The country's elite, who signed the Punto Fijo pact in 1958, shared the oil revenues among themselves, regardless of who won the elections, thus avoiding possible conflicts that could arise as a result of the oil revenues not being shared in the country. However, the election of Hugo Chávez as the country's president in 1998 ended the 40-year period. By expropriating the oil in the country, Hugo Chávez took the oil revenues from the hands of the Punto Fijo elites, thus the political conflict in Venezuela has started in 1998 and to today it still continues. The aim of this work is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of long-standing intra-state conflicts in Venezuela by adopting case study methodology. The dominant opinion in the literature claims that the ongoing Venezuelan conflict has social factors like social polarization, ergo it is a social conflict. However, according to the results of this analysis, the conflict in the country is political and has different political and environmental factors like oil revenues.

With the advent of the Arab Spring, the main aim has been centered around investigating the different aspects of the topic. The focus has also been on discussing the topic in terms of the theories of Security Studies, the importance of which has been further understood. The main objective of the present study is to discuss the community structure of North African countries and the changes that took place before and after the Arab Spring in terms of security. The study focuses on the period from prior to Colonialism until 2012. It is possible to gain knowledge about the process by extensively analyzing the topic. The democracy indexes that are used to analyze whether the process was democratic or manipulative, will provide some detailed information on the condition of North African countries. By employing visual sociology, it is also aimed to bring in a new and different perspective to the analysis. Within the framework of the Copenhagen School, which has an important place in allowing a better understanding of the growing perception of security after the Cold War, the study also aimed to discuss the Arab Spring in terms of the Securitization and Regional Security Complex Theory. The peace and conflict studies of Johan Galtung and the theoretical framework of Barry Buzan will provide a better understanding of the topic under study. The SWOT analysis, which is often covered in business studies, is applied in the field of Security Studies. Transformation of North Africa's contemporary period after the Arab Spring, is investigated in the context of Security Studies. To make this transformation clear, the focus of this study is on the time period after the Arab Spring (2014-2019), and the global terrorism-global peace indexes of this time period are used. With the data retrieved from the indexes and the obtained results, the current security condition of North Africa is examined. The Arab Spring, which has a significant place in international relations, will be discussed in detail by covering the literature of Security Studies and the other social sciences disciplines.

Latin Amerika'nın önemli ülkelerinden Kolombiya uzun yıllar çatışmalar ülkesi olarak anılmıştır. Geçtiğimiz yüzyılda ülke içerisinde Liberaller ve Muhafazakarlar arasında şiddetli çatışmalar yaşanmış, toplumdaki gelir dağılımı adaletsizliği, mülkiyetin kullanımındaki toplumsal katmanlardaki derin farklılıklar iç çatışmaların artmasına neden olmuştur. Hükümetler ile muhtelif çıkar ilişkileri olan belirli azınlık gruplarının elinde bulunan devasa toprak mülkiyetleri oligarşik yapıları meydana getirmiş, buna karşın toplumsal refleks ve dinamikler harekete geçmiş ve iç isyanlar başlamıştır. Farklı birçok silahlı örgüt bu yapısal olumsuzlukları bertaraf etmek için devlet ve paramiliter güçlere karşı savaş açmıştır. Silahlı mücadelelerin başlamasıyla yaşanan çatışmalar ülkede zaten yoğun şekilde var olan uyuşturucu trafiğinin ve coğrafi koşulların gerilla için elverişli olmasının da etkisiyle apayrı bir ivme kazanmıştır. Bu silahlı grupların en eskisi ve büyüğü olan FARC, Kolombiya Hükümetleriyle 52 yıl boyunca savaşmış ve birçok evreden sonra Barış Anlaşması ile bu savaş sona ermiştir. Bu çalışmada Kolombiya devlet ve toplum yapısındaki dinamikler, sorunun temel yapı taşları çatışma teorisi analizi çerçevesinde irdelenerek kalıcı barış kapasitesi tahlil edildi. Yaşanan iç savaştan barış aşamasına gelinen süreçte dış etkenlerin etkisi, ideolojik angajmanlar, küresel hegemonya ve konjonktürel etkileri ortaya koyuldu. Yanlış ve doğrularıyla taraflar arasında çatışmasızlığın nasıl sağlandığı, tarafların talep ve aktör analizleriyle politik inisiyatiflerin nasıl alındığı mercek altına alındı. Barışın kalıcı hale gelebilmesi ve geleceğin Kolombiya toplumu için barış umudu taşıyabilmesi için gerekli reform adımları ortaya koyuldu. Son olarak dünyanın diğer coğrafyalarında bulunan çatışmalara Kolombiya-FARC barış sürecinin nasıl bir tecrübi kazanım olabileceği araştırıldı. ; Colombia, one of the most important countries of Latin America, has been called as conflict country for many years. In the past century, there have been violent clashes between the Liberals and the Conservatives in the country; the unfair income distribution in society and the deep differences in the social strata in the use of property have led to an increase in internal conflicts. The gigantic land properties owned by certain minority groups who have various interests with governments constituted oligarchic structures, on the other hand social reflexes and dynamics came into action and internal revolts began. Many different armed organizations have waged war against the state and paramilitary forces in order to eliminate these structural problems. The clashes with the onset of armed struggles gained momentum due to the fact that the drug traffic that is already heavily present in the country and geographic conditions that are favorable for guerrillas. The FARC, the oldest and largest of these armed groups, fought the Colombian Governments for 52 years and, after many stages, this war ended with the Peace Agreement. In this study, the dynamics in the state and social structure of Colombia and the main building blocks of the problem were analyzed within the framework of conflict theory analysis; and lasting peace capacity was analyzed. The effects of external factors, ideological engagements, global hegemony and its conjunctural effects have been put forward in the process from the civil war to the stage of peace. It was examined how the de-conflict between the parties was ensured by their wrongs and rights and how the political initiatives were taken by the demand of parties and actor analysis. The necessary reform steps have been put forward for the peace to be lasting and the hope for peace for the future of Colombian society. Finally, it was explored how the Colombian-FARC peace process could be a gain in the conflicts in other geographies of the world.

The term co-radicalization refers to intergroup hostilities leading to conflicts through cycles of reciprocal threat. This article explores the concept of co-radicalization in violent and non-violent terms and its potential application particularly in Turkey and broadly in the Middle East, a region characterized by ethnic, cultural and religious diversity, as well as socio-economic disparities. Drawing from the social fragmentations recently observed in Turkey, where scientific research on radicalism and co-radicalization is insufficient, the article offers several subjects of scrutiny, including (1) socio-economic co-radicalization between the native and migrant people in the fringes of the urban spaces, (2) the religious norm carriership led by the state institutions and the rise of "Deism" and atheism in response, and (3) the variety of non-violent radical expressions feeding each other, from music to satire. We conclude that the study of co-radicalization should be distinguished from the reductionist approaches to the concept, which tend to take terrorism and radicalism synonymously; the social scientific goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the complex dynamics behind societal divisions.

Avrupa'nın güneydoğusunda, doğu ile batı arasındaki doğal ulaştırma koridorunun tam üzerinde yer alan Balkanlar Bölgesi, sahip olduğu stratejik konum ekseninde ortaya çıkan sistemsel paylaşım mücadelesinin yanı sıra, bünyesinde barındırdığı farklı etno-kültürel ve dinsel grupların birbirleriyle girdiği mücadele ekseninde de çatışma gerçekliğini özümsemiştir. Bu nedenle günümüzde Balkanlar Bölgesi'nde ortaya çıkan en ufak bir çıkar çatışması dahi derhal güvenlikleştirilmekte ve uluslararası sistemi etkileyen büyük bir sorun haline gelmektedir. Soğuk Savaş sonrası Avro-Atlantik İttifakı'nın sistemik kontrolü altına girmiş olan Balkanlar Bölgesi, AB ve NATO'nun doğuya doğru genişleme stratejisinde önemli bir terminal noktası haline geldiği için, her iki aktör de bölgedeki çatışma gerçekliğini geri plana iterek bölgesel işbirliğini Batılı siyasal ve ekonomik değerler üzerinden yapılandırmaya çalışmaktadır. Ancak tarihsel sorunlar ve geniş çaplı bir bölgesel çatışma ortamı yaratan rakip ulusal kimlikler, Rusya'nın Avro- Atlantik İttifakı'nın benimsediği sistemsel değerlere yönelttiği muhalefet ile birleşince Balkanlar Bölgesi'nde çatışma faktörü işbirliğine üstün gelmektedir. Bu çalışmada geleneksel kuramların günümüze uyarlanmış birer devamı olan neorealizm ve neoliberalizm ile sosyal inşacılık bağlamında Balkanlar'ın konjonktürel görünümü ve muhtemel geleceği irdelenmeye çalışılacaktır. ; Balkan Region, which is positioned on the transportation corridor that goes from east to west, has internalized the reality of conflict by the effect of a system based power struggle that comes from its strategic location and the combatting nature of the varied ethno-cultural and religious groups. Therefore a slightest conflict which emerges in the region of Balkans immediately becomes a problem of security that articulated into the international system. Balkan Region which drifted within the international system based tide of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance becomes an important station at the strategy of eastern enlargement of EU and NATO. Because of this, both of these systemic actors are trying to push the reality of conflict into background and also striving to structure the regional collaboration by using their own (Western) values. Nevertheless, when historical problems and the rivalry based national identities which create conflicts unite with the Russian opposition that gravitate towards the systemic values of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance, conflict prevails at the Balkans. This study will examine the cyclical scene and the probable future of the Balkans within the context of neorealism, neoliberalism and social constructivism.

Bu çalışmada, Ortadoğu'nun en önemli ve oldukça sorunlu ülkelerinden birisi olan Irak'ta, 2003 sonrası günyüzüne çıkan Şii-Sünni çatışmasının iç ve dış aktör analizini yapılacak ve bu durumun yerel, bölgesel ve uluslararası yansımaları değerlendirilecektir. Ayrıca söz konusu çatışmanın doğru ve net bir şekilde kavramak ve açıklamak için Irak'ın siyasal, toplumsal güvenlik, ekonomik ve kültürel açıdan nasıl bir durumda olduğunun akademik seviyede incelenmesi yapılacaktır. Çalışma, üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde, Şii-Sünni çatışmasının kavramsal çerçevesi değerlendirilecektir. İkinci bölümde, Irak'taki bu çatışmanın siyasi tarih bağlamda analizi yapılacaktır. Üçüncü bölümde, 2003'ten günümüze kadar iç ve dış aktörlerinin bu çatışmaya doğrudan ve dolaylı etkileri ele alınacaktır. Sonuç bölümünde ise, genel olarak çatışma değerlendirilecek ve çatışma disiplini ışığında uygun ve mümkün olan öneri ve stratejiler sunulacaktır. ; In this study, the analysis of internal and external actors of the Shiite-Sunni conflict in the post-2003 period in Iraq, which is one of the most important and problematic countries of the Middle East, will be done. The local, regional and the international reflection of this situation will also be evaluated. In addition, the political, social, security, economic, and cultural situation of Iraq will be examined at academic level to understand and explain the conflict clearly. The study consists of three main parts. In the first part, the conceptual framework of the Shiite-Sunni conflict will be evaluated. In the second part, the conflict in Iraq will be analyzed in the political history context. In the third part, the direct and indirect effects of the internal and external actors that are experiencing up to the present day from 2003 on this conflict will be discussed. In conclusion, the conflict will be evaluated generally and appropriate and possible suggestions and strategies will be presented in the light of conflict discipline.

North'un kavramsallaştırması ile oyunun kuralları olarak tanımlanan kurumlar, bireylerin davranışkalıplarını belirleyen kısıtları koymaktadır. Bu kısıtlar resmi veya gayri resmi nitelikte olabilir. İnsan davranışları üzerindeki etkisi her geçen gün daha fazla kabul gören kurumlar, iktisadi ve siyasi olarak sistemin işleyişini, sistemin kazan ve kaybedenlerini de belirleme gücüne sahiptir. Bu işleyiş birçok araştırmacı tarafından farklı yönleri ile alınarak kavramsallaştırılmıştır. Kurumların gelişmişlik düzeyi üzerindeki etkisini ele alan birçok kuram geliştirilmiştir. Kurumlar literatürüne bu anlamda katkı sunan önemli isimlerden biri de Daron Acemoğlu'dur. Kurumların kapsayıcı veya dışlayıcı niteliğe sahip olmasını toplumsal atışma teorisi temelinde ele alan Acemoğlu'na göre kapsayıcı kurumlara sahip ülkeler gelişme gösterebilmektedir. Çünkü bu ülkeler farklı sosyal gruplar arasında uzlaştırıcı bir iktisadi ve siyasi sistem kurgulayarak siyasi gücün tek bir kişi veya grup elinde toplanmasını engellemektedir. Böylelikle yatırım ve yenilik yapma isteği, kendi kazancına ve mülkiyetine sahip çıkabileceğini bilen bireylerin oluşturduğu toplumlarda gelişmiş olmaktadır. Related to the North, we can define it as the rule of games, which means that institutions put constrains on individuals' behaviors. These constraints can be in formal forms as well as informal ones. That the human behaviors are designed by institutions is becoming a wellaccepted idea day by day, therefore it is the same to accept thefunctions of institutions in economics and social process; its power on determining the losers and winners of society. This process with its different sides has been investigated by scientists. Several theories are constructed for understanding therelations between institutions and development level. Daron Acemoğlu is one of the economists who have important contributions to the institutional theory. He uses inclusive and exclusive institutions concept with social conflict theories for explaining the reason for that some countries have better development level in compare to others. Since these countries succeed in establishing political and economic institutions which have ability solve social conflicts in order to prevent elites' selfinterested behaviors for using societies' resources. Therefore incentives for investment and innovation can grow societies which have well protected property rights and gains. The most important problem for development is the fear of elites who do not want to lose their political power. This theory is called political losers hypothesis and it underlines the importance of political institutions accompanied with political power. In this study, political losers hypothesis was investigated as a case study for Turkey's history. The main result is that Turkey's exclusive institutions have inability to solve social conflicts which cause the governance problems. Fragile or failed states are often caused by long lasting and violent conflicts - Liberia is one of them. Since the war ceased in 2003, the United Nations and its coalition of states have tried to rebuild the nation and maintain its peace. Nation building can be seen from two different angles: as a Weberian legal and rational order or as a process that highlights social and contextual factors. Within social sciences this process can be studied either by looking into what factors contribute to a successful nation building or how this process works in practice. The article focuses on the former, by listing and analyzing the involved UN institutions with an emphasis on the Peacebuilding Commission and Peacebuilding Fund. L. Pitkaniemi

Terörizm konusu, nedenleri ve sonuçları itibariyle sosyal bilimlerde çok geniş bir çalışma alanı bulabilmektedir. Bazı ülkeler kendi içlerindeki terör örgütlerinin saldırılarına maruz kalırken, bazıları ise uluslararası terörizmin hedefi haline gelmiştir. Bu çerçevede küreselleşen dünya ile birlikte bu sorun tüm ülkeleri ilgilendirir hale gelerek üzerinde önemle durulması gereken bir konu olmuştur. Türkiye'de terörizmin ekonomik, siyasal ve sosyal göstergelerle ilişkisini ortaya koyabilmek amacıyla VAR yöntemine dayalı nedensellik testi ile Toda-Yamamoto nedensellik testi çalışmanın yöntemi olarak belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, kurulan modellere ait değişkenlere standart sapmalık bir şok verildiğinde, modelde yer alan diğer değişkenlerin bu etkiye verdikleri tepkiyi ölçmek amacıyla Etki-Tepki analizi kullanılmıştır. Bir değişkene ilişkin öngörü hata varyansının, diğer değişkenler tarafından açıklanma oranlarını tespit edebilmek için ise varyans ayrıştırmasına yer verilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, 1988-2018 dönemi için Türkiye'de terörizm ile işsizlik, büyüme ve enflasyon arasında arasında VAR'a dayalı herhangi bir nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilememiştir. Toda-Yamamoto yaklaşımı da bu sonuçları desteklemektedir. Terörizm ile politik haklar ve sivil özgürlükler arasında ise 1988-2018 dönemi için VAR'a dayalı çift yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Toda-Yamamoto yaklaşımında ise politik haklar ve sivil özgürlüklerden terörizme doğru bir nedensellik olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Terörizmden politik haklar ve sivil özgürlüklere doğru olan nedensellik ise VAR'a dayalı nedensellik sonuçlarını teyit etmiştir. Sosyal göstergeler açısından ise 1985-2014 dönemi için etnik ve dini çatışma endeksleri ile terörizm arasında herhangi bir nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilememiştir. ; The subject of terrorism can find a wide range of fields of study in social sciences in terms of causes and consequences. Some countries have been exposed to attacks from terrorist organizations in itself, while others have become the target of international terrorism. In this context, with the globalizing world, this problem has become a matter of concern for all countries and has to be emphasized. In order to reveal the economic, political and social causes and consequences of terrorism in Turkey, the causality test based on the VAR method and the Toda-Yamamoto causality test were determined. In addition, when a standard deviation shock is given to the variables of the established models, impulse response analysis was used to measure the response of other variables in the model. In order to determine the rate of disclosure of the predictive error variance for one variable by other variables variance decomposition is used According to the results of the analysis, for the period 1988-2018, the causality relationship based on VAR can not be found between the terrorism in Turkey and unemployment, growth and inflation. The Toda-Yamamoto approach supports these results too. It was concluded that there was a bidirectional causal relationship between terrorism and political rights and civil liberties for the period of 1988-2018. In the Toda-Yamamoto approach, it was determined that there was no causality from political rights and civil liberties to terrorism. But, the causality from terrorism to political rights and civil liberties confirmed the causality results based on VAR. In terms of social indicators, no causal relationship between ethnic and religious conflict indices and terrorism has been identified for the period 1985-2014.

Bu çalışma 25-26 Nisan 2019 tarihinde Ankara'da düzenlenen "Fiscaoeconomia International Congress on Social Sciences", adlı kongrede sözlü olarak sunulmuş, ancak basılmamıştır. ; Gelecek kuşaklara daha iyi yaşanılabilir bir dünya bırakmak her bireyin olduğu gibi işletmelerin de üzerine düşen bir görevdir. Bu görev sosyal sorumluluk anlayışının bir gereğidir. Günümüzde işletmeler maksimum kara odaklandıklarından sosyal sorumluluklarını yerine getirme konusunda çelişkiye düşebilmektedir. Amaç, sadece maksimum kar elde etmek olmamalı, aynı zamanda çevrenin sürdürülebilirliğine katkı sağlamak olmalıdır. İşletmelerin finansal tablolarına baktığımızda çevre adına bir maliyet unsuruna çok az rastlanmaktadır. Çevre muhasebesi sisteminin uygulanması bu boşluğu dolduracaktır. Ve böylece işletmelerin çevreye yaptıkları yatırım maliyetleri finansal tablolarında yer almış olacaktır. Gelişmiş ülkelerde, örneğin Japonya ve İsveç'te çevre maliyetleri işletmelerin finansal tablolarında açıkça görülebilir. Bu çalışmada BİST Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksinde yer alan 63 işletmenin, sürdürülebilirlik, sosyal sorumluluk ve çevre faaliyetleri incelenmiştir. Ayrıca şirketlerin çevre maliyetlerini finansal tablolarında nasıl gösterdikleri incelenerek çevre muhasebesini uygulayıp uygulamadıkları değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda işletmelerin çevre muhasebesini uygulamadıkları, finansal raporlarında ve sürdürülebilirlik raporlarında çevre ile ilgili sayısal bilgilerden ziyade genel bilgilerin yer aldığı tespit edilmiştir. ; Leaving a better livable world for future generations is a duty of businesses as well as every individual. This task is a requirement of social responsibility. Nowadays, as businesses focus on maximum profits, they may be in conflict with their social responsibilities. The aim should not only be to achieve maximum profit, but also to contribute to the sustainability of the environment. When we look at the financial statements of the enterprises, a cost element for the environment is very rare. The implementation of the environmental accounting system will fill this gap. And thus, the investment costs of the enterprises to the environment will be included in their financial statements. Indeveloped countries, for instance Japan and Sweden, environmental costs are clearly seen in the financial statements. In this study, were examined sustainability, social responsibility and environmental activities of 63 businesses in the BIST Sustainability Index. In addition, it is examined whether companies show environmental costs in their financial statements and whether they apply environmental accounting. As a result of the study, it was determined that enterprises do not apply environmental accounting, and general information rather than numerical information about environment is included in financial reports and sustainability reports.
