With the advent of globalization and access to information, social networks came to be widely used by different generations. However, environmental issues have been causing global impacts, as well as issues of social vulnerability. Environmental awareness awakens new consumption habits, implementing a new socially responsible posture. This study aims to analyze the influence of social networks on environmental awareness and the social responsibility of Baby Boomers, Generations X, and Y, in the regions of South and Southeast Brazil. We use the methodology of quantitative and descriptive research, by means of the Structural Equation Modeling. The results highlight that individuals who are exposed to information (videos, photos, texts) related to social responsibility and environmental sustainability are positively influenced in the formation of social and environmental awareness. However, generation Y presented the lowest means of responses in the search for information on environmental and social issues. This is relevant to society, teaching institutions, government agencies, as well as companies, in order to promote actions and information on social and environmental responsibility, in order to engage Generation Y in sustainable development.

; We analyze how meaning is attributed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) by the markets, government, and actors from the civil society involved in aggregate mining in São Paulo. CSR is presented as fundamental for reducing the negative aspects and conflicts between representatives of society caused by mining. Little attention has been paid to the relationship between how different CSR interpretations emerge from interactions between multiple actors in the mining sector. Through a qualitative case study, 58 interviews were conducted with people representing civil society, the state, and the market. Additionally, document analysis and observation techniques enriched our data set. The paper reveals three interpretations of CSR among the groups studied: voluntary, environmental, and social. Based on the relationship between these interpretations of CSR, we can see a pattern in how those involved build meaning.
At the dawn of capitalism, people believed that the economy was controlled by the market, and that an "invisible hand" balanced supply and demand. It was therefore necessary to avoid government intervention. Businesses attempted to reduce costs as much as possible through long working hours, and by using women and children as cheap labor. It was from this context that social movements emerged to establish workers' rights (Herrera, 2007). The Nancy N. Boothe papers, 1980-2009 [bulk 1990-1997], are composed of articles, notes, reports and a wide variety of feminist publications. Much of the material documents the U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women, which Ms. Boothe attended as Executive Director of Atlanta's Feminist Women's Health Center. Artifacts, artwork and textiles relate to the conference and to other women's and health issues. ; Born in Battles Wharf, Alabama (1948), Nancy N. Boothe graduated from the University of South Alabama as a registered nurse (1971). She received a B.S. in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia (1976), and a master's degree in Counseling from Troy State University [Florida Region] (1981). Boothe served in the U.S. Nurse Corps in the U.S. and Korea (1970-1984), and worked as clinical director and consultant at a number of health facilities in Louisiana and Florida. She became Executive Director of the Atlanta Feminist Women's Health Center in 1994. In 1995, she attended the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China, where she taught the workshop, ""GYN Self-Help."" Boothe has served on the boards of All Women's Health Services in Portland and Eugene, Oregon; the Sexual Assault Center, Atlanta, Georgia; and the Jeanette Rankin Foundation, Athens, Georgia. She is also a member of the Feminist Majority Foundation's ""Women's Commission for Congressional Oversight"" and A.P.D. Citizen Review Panel.; Founded in California in 1971 by Carol Downer (1933-) and Lorraine Rothman (1932-2007), the Feminist Women's Health Center was established to empower women through self-knowledge, education and self-help groups. The Atlanta Feminist Women's Health Center was established in 1977. Its mission is to ""provide accessible, comprehensive gynecological healthcare to all who need it without judgment. As innovative healthcare leaders, [they] work collaboratively within [their] community and nationally to promote reproductive health, rights and justice. [They] advocate for wellness, uncensored health information and fair public policies by educating the larger community and empowering [their] clients to make their own decisions.""; The United Nations convened the Fourth World Conference on Women, September 4-15, 1995, in Beijing, China, with a Platform for Action that aimed at achieving greater equality and opportunity for women. Three previous World Conferences were held in Mexico City (International Women's Year, 1975), Copenhagen (1980) and Nairobi (1985). 189 governments and more than 5,000 representatives from 2,100 non-governmental organizations participated in the Beijing Conference. The principal themes were the advancement and empowerment of women in relation to women's human rights, women and poverty, women and decision-making, the girl-child, violence against women and other areas of concern. The resulting documents of the Conference are The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. The U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women manifested a global women's movement for change and has been called ""the Woodstock of the women's movement.""; The World Conference on Women was also accompanied by an informal meeting (August 30-September 8) of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). This NGO Forum on Women, Beijing '95, brought together thousands of women from around the world to exchange information and ideas, celebrate women's achievements and contributions and draw attention and develop solutions to discrimination facing women world-wide.
Information security is an essential subject for commercial and government organizations, and its deployment should be supported by software tools, both at design time (when authorization business rules are planned and designed) and at run time (when authorization business rules are applied and monitored). An authorization business rule (or authorization rules, for short) is a rule that states which operations may be executed on each data item by each user. Therefore, information security supporting tools should include features for editing, managing, and assuring the application and monitoring of authorization rules. These features may be structured in a framework composed by rule management and rule execution components. In real scenarios, evaluating and selecting tools to support organization business processes is typically handled by prospecting activities that are conducted in an ad-hoc way, and therefore are very time-consuming and hard to track. However, the rapid evolution of business scenarios, the increasing demand for traceability in business-IT alignment and the great number of IT solutions available for being evaluated require prospecting activities to be more systematic, traceable and quickly adapted to different scenarios. This work proposes a set of criteria and a systematic method for evaluating tools for management and execution of authorization rules. We have applied our approach in a real scenario. The results demonstrated that BRMS (Business Rule Management Systems) tools can be used for authorization rule management, and Oracle DBMS is the most suitable tool for authorization rules storage and execution.

This article seeks to discuss the vision of the 'social' in the field called social determinants of health. For this, bibliographical research was conducted, based on references from the field of human sciences, by authors such as Latour (2012) and Santos (1988). It begins with a general characterization of the field of social determinants of health, especially political and scientific views. Then, it presents the critical elements characterizing paths on the thinking of these authors. The study sought to highlight reductionism increasingly present in the approach to the field of social determinants of health. These reductionisms that ultimately limit further reading about the complexity of life in society and reinforce the commodification and trivialization of life. Santos (1988) notes that, in front of these reductionism, science cannot be merely producing a scientific paradigm, but also a social paradigm - the paradigm of a decent life. The thinking of Latour (2012) brought arguments to rethink the 'social' beyond a specific and limited domain of reality, as something always external to the subject and to their own health. The fragmented view of the field of social determinants of health is what we put into analysis and make inquiries as a way to raise future discussions on the topic.
; The paper analyzes the interpretations given to the Fiscal Responsibility Law after 19 years of its implementation. As an institution that seeks to regulate the fiscal management of governments throughout the country, a significant part of the enforcement of the law at the regional and local level rests with the State and Municipal Courts of Accounts. We adopted the theoretical model of institutional change by Mahoney and Thelen (2009), with evidence collected by questionnaire, to give a first explanation for the incremental change of such fiscal legislation. The Fiscal Responsibility Law has been interpreted by the auditing bodies, in such a way that, in some cases, creative accounting practices emerge, reducing the containment of excessive spending and generating over-indebtedness.
Cristina Maria Meira Melo is a nurse and Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of São Paulo/USP and professor at the Nursing School, Federal University of Bahia/UFBA acting in undergraduate courses, Residence, Masters and Doctorate in Nursing. This book was published in 1986, the result of her dissertation. Its importance stands out of addressing on the nursing work based on the historical and dialectical materialism, little-discussed perspective in Brazilian Nursing and internationally. In this sense, the author provides reflections on the Nursing articulated to other social practices, highlighting the historical character from the professional institutionalization in the mid-nineteenth century. Reflections on nursing practice and its economic, political and ideological determinants are shown, being present and raised questions to the reader.
The article comments on a new generation of researchers studying the illegal markets in Brazil. In doing so, I summarize the interpretative model of 'social accumulation of violence'. Initially applied to Rio de Janeiro, several researchers have now expanded it to other Brazilian states as well as to countries with high violence rates, such as Colombia and Mexico. The model is both historical and social. It combines three main factors that have been feeding one another throughout times and expanded across several places: (1) social accumulation of disadvantages; (2) criminal subjection; and (3) expansion of acquisition strategies across networks of informality and illicit markets, for which the offer of political merchandise is decisive. As proposed in previous works, political merchandise means political assets originated from the privatization of segments of the State's pretension to sovereignty over the monopoly of violence by different agents, who negotiate these assets in exchange for economic assets or other political goods. The book presents three articles written from the conferences that Boaventura de Sousa Santos performed at the University of Buenos Aires – Social Sciences Faculty. The issues adressed on each chapter concern topics related to ethics and politics in contemporary societies, as well as the social relations implied on these themes. The growning inequalities among developed and third world countries, as well as local, regional and global relations are presented by the author in order to renew critical theory and to plunge into the political discussion through knowledge production and dissemination.
