A SURVEY OF MATERIALS FOR THE STUDY OF MILITARY MANAGEMENT
In: American political science review, Band 49, S. 828-850
ISSN: 0003-0554
A bibliographical survey of source materials, noting the several obstacles which make research difficult in the field of military management. Background materials are suggested for a basic introduction to the field. These are followed by a consideration of basic indexes, the official military historical programs, & materials on organization & management in the major services. Though the bibliography is primarily concerned with the US military organization, some foreign documents & materials are noted. (Modified AASQ).
PROBLEMES MILITAIRES CONTEMPORAINS: ETAT DES TRAVAUX
In: Revue française de science politique, Band 10, Heft 2
ISSN: 0035-2950
In spite of their importance in the life of nations, military problems have hardly been studied. However, important studies in the US, France, & GB have recently been made in the area of global war & its place in the contemporary history of societies & civilizations. On the other hand, the geo-strategic problems of the nuclear era have commanded the attention of various specialists. Furthermore, empirical studies of military situations during the past 15 yrs have focused attention upon the concepts of subversive war, revolutionary war & psychol'al warfare. Finally, interesting studies have been made of defense systems, of military institutions & of problems in military sociol. Nevertheless, there are still many blank spaces in our understanding of these phenomena. Tr by J. A. Broussard from IPSA.
INTRODUCTION: RESEARCH NOTES ON CHANGES IN CONTEMPORARY POLISH SOCIETY
In: International social science bulletin, Band 9, Heft 2, S. 157-164
ISSN: 1014-5508
The general soc changes determining, the nature of contemporary Polish society are: the developing national homogeneity, the land reform of 1944-46, the process of socialist industrialization, & the emergence of new supervisory & admin'tive personnel. Though the old We has experienced a deterioration in living standards, the great influx of workers into industry has been associated with improved living conditions econ'ly & pol'ly. The major change affecting the peasantry is the growing dominance of the family-size farm as the main soc & econ farming unit. In regard to the condition of the intelligentsia, the dividing lines on conflicts are likely to be drawn on national issues rather than on the basis of membership in the older or newer intelligentsia. The military intelligentsia are now drawn from the people rather than from the big landowner class. For various reasons, development of the soc sci's has been retarded, but great improvements, especially in Marxist sociol, are expected in the future. B. J. Keeley.
