; The European Union considers the cultural and linguistic diversity of its member states an identical characteristic. Since the linguistic communities come closer to one another by reasons of globalization and industrialization, successful communication represents an essential factor. Therefore, the European Union has become aware of the importance of promotion of plurilingualism. Account being taken of these factors, foreign language didactics constitutes a fundamental aspect regarding the promotion of plurilingualism. This thesis deals with the didactical application of intercomprehension, a phenomenon which is defined as the understanding of a discursive production completely or partially in a foreign language without having acquired it through studying. Didactics of intercomprehension focusses on language acquisition based on linguistic affinity within the same linguistic family. The application of intercomprehension in foreign language didactics pays particular attention to partial competences, primarily to the competence of reading comprehension. In contrast to traditional foreign language didactics, the didactics of intercomprehension connects prior knowledge with the new language by unifying skills of all acquired languages, including learner experiences and comparing the language systems and linguistic structures. In this context, sensitization and learner autonomy, awareness-raising measures, consciousness of the own language acquisition process and learning strategies represent key terms in didactics of intercomprehension. This thesis presents the possibilities and benefits of didactics of intercomprehension as an alternative approach to traditional foreign language didactics.
; The centuries-old Italian presence in Istanbul was profoundly affected during the 19th century by the arrival first of Risorgimento exiles and later of mainly economic immigrants. This paper investigates these reconfigurations by focusing on the second generation – i. e. the children of Italian immigrants born in the Empire. Without assuming that they had a sense of belonging to a community, the paper examines their sociability, loyalties, and identifications in order to investigate their ...
; What happens when different linguistic awareness, apart from being separated from the era, from the geographical area of origin or from social differentiation, is not only pertinent to different linguistic dimensions, but also to different semiotic domains? This is what occurs every time we communicate on a social network: digital interaction is, in fact, the hybrid field of communication par excellence, in which a mixture of different languages is superimposed on different codes. It is precisely the new expressive needs and the new communicative situations that push towards linguistic innovations; it therefore seems interesting to take into account the importance assumed by the visual repertoire in the spontaneous use of new media as well as the particular strategies of construction of the meaning that cannot be separated from these second dimensions. The role of digital communication has been addressed through research using different scientific perspectives: this project investigates how different research areas, apparently distant from each other, can productively interact with the scientific landscape of language sciences, of image and communication. We should be aware of these other functions of the language in digital use to be able to deal with all the innovations connected to it without prejudice. The indexical function of language has a crucial role in the use of verbal language on the Internet, which is associated with the presence of a shared archive of reference and determines a new kind of inferentiality in the receiver. Online Conversation, in fact, allows actions that are not necessarily present in the vis-a-vis verbal exchange, but which are instead specific to FB, Twitter, G +, Instagram, Flickr and other social networks: the sharing of various multimedia material, the option to retrieve messages related to a specific topic and the possibility to gloss it. The multimedia material thus becomes simultaneously an integral part of the communication and expressive modality, focus of the discourse and shared metaphorical language. We are faced with a metamorphosis of the media communication structure that overlaps written text and image. The digital dimension assumed by communication in recent years has made it possible to focus more clearly on the model of these conglomerates. Internet, especially social media, in fact, allows us to observe these conglomerates of language and image while speakers spontaneously create them. This research proposes a transversal path that considers all the semiotic domains normally involved in digital communication, proposing the formulation of an updated model of the dynamics of linguistic hybridization of the current digital dimension.
; The Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) student register records that today in Italy more than one out of ten students is not an Italian citizen, although the majority of them were born there. Several statistical surveys indicate that "foreign" students, when compared to native students, show a poorer performance in Italian and in academic achievement. This exploratory fieldwork carried out in schools in Turin (5th to 8th grade) analyzed data obtained through semi-structured interviews with 121 students and 26 parents as well as 141 questionnaires filled in by 27 teachers of Italian and family language. It showed that many students are "bilingual natives", as they grow up acquiring both Italian and another language; however, despite the fact that the interviewees rate polyglottism positively, schools don't usually offer targeted support in either language. Within the cohort the broadest range of competences in Italian are found first among those with an Italian-speaking parent, then among those who arrived in Italy at pre-school age attending kindergarten there; this latter group shows higher competences than those born in Italy attending nursery there, as also in the INVALSI tests. As far as family language is concerned, data illustrate that its teaching increases its competences without affecting those in Italian: quite the opposite in fact. These results confirm the remarkable role played by the "other" language in successful language education. MIUR is therefore called upon to include also linguistic data in its student register, so as to redefine its curricula according to EU Guidelines, and to identify specific procedures and resources for multilingual classes. This new policy would reduce the current cost of placing students in a lower grade, grade retention and drop-outs, and would promote school success, equal opportunities and multilingualism, with positive consequences both for the individuals and for the national economy. Numerose indagini statistiche mostrano come gli allievi "stranieri" presentino, rispetto a quelli italiani, ridotte competenze in italiano e minore successo scolastico.
; This thesis deals with the development of Italo Calvinos literature, namely his first book Il sentiero dei nidi di ragno (1947) and his last work Palomar (1983). Through this comparison it is visible how Calvino managed to show the complexity of reality in his writings and how his style evolved. With his works (above all the later ones) he was capable, through combining scientific knowledge and philosophical interests, to give a general view of reality and its infinite permutations of virtual possibilities. In this way, he could also show how science and philosophy can work together, with the help of literature, in order to expand human knowledge. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the ways in which Calvino managed to paint a picture of his knowledge and insights and at the same time pave the way for new research. The methodology of this thesis starts from the secondary literature that is concerned with the above-mentioned themes (Calvinos objective, style and evolution). These texts were chosen based on their thematic relevance and topicality. After explaining the objectives and the methodology required to accomplish them, the thesis begins with an explanation of the term "reality" in artistic works, especially in literature. Then, it introduces Calvinos two works that it aims to compare. Finally, it compares them focusing on relevant points (for instance the linguistic topic, politics and economics, narrative voice, gender issues and development of scientific knowledge).
; Foreign language didactics play a relevant role in the development of intercultural competence at school. Researchers, and frameworks of reference such as the Austrian Bildungsstandards, provide theoretical models and descriptors of intercultural competence. Nevertheless, they do not include all the aspects and partial abilities that characterize intercultural communicative competence (ICC), as understood by authors such as Michael Byram, Lothar Bredella and Britta Freitag-Hild. Particularly important among those aspects are the ability to mediate and negotiate meanings among individuals belonging to different cultural backgrounds, and the ability to uphold contrasting perspectives while identifying with these perspectives.Managing to interact with native speakers in daily situations while avoiding misunderstandings is certainly the basis of successful intercultural communication. Yet this is not the ultimate aim for learning a foreign language at school. Beyond linguistic and pragmatic competences (frequently confused with ICC), first and second foreign language teaching should give more emphasis to relational, humanistic and socio-political aims. The purpose of this thesis is to show that even in the didactics of Italian as a foreign language (taken as an example of a second foreign language in Austrian high schools), it is possible and desirable to improve ICC by giving correct significance to those educational aspects. For this reason, I will also discuss two examples of lesson plans on intercultural and transcultural themes, taking short stories from "Il muro dei muri" by Carmine Abate as a source for a process of analysis and reflection for developing ICC. These two lesson plans will be supported by a theoretical introduction on the concept of culture and interculturality, together with some considerations on methodology to develop ICC regarding the use of performative tasks, such as the dramatization of literary texts. In February 1524, a great global conjunction was mentioned by the astronomers. All the then known plains, the Sole, Mercurio, Venere, Marte, Giove and Saturno, were to be densified in a relatively small part of the sky in the Pesci constellation (the Sole was still seen as a planet). Moreover, the Full and Opposition Luna did not promise well for the 19th or 20th of the month. The calculations of the astronomers of the time were really well done. However, the interpretation, with the relative spread of the prophy of an imminent disaster and a new universal dilution and turnaround by farmers, is closely linked to the historical period. Germany was the place of origin of prophia, printed paper and the use of volgal languages instead of Latino as the medium of dissemination throughout Europe.
Italian has five epistemic forms that can be considered as grammatical, at least to an extent: the epistemic future, the indicative and the conditional forms of duty (MUST); the indicative and the conditional forms of power (CAN). This article studies the semantic oppositions between this forms, with a twofold objective: to describe the internal structure of the epistemic domain in Italian and to characterise it typologically. The Italian epistemic domain appears to be structured around three axes: the step of certainty, the opposition between primacy and primacy of epistemic meanings, the opposition between epistemic/evidential and genuine epistemic meanings. The structure of Italian epistemic domain is chartered according to four typological parameters relevant for the semantic classification of epistemic systems. This typological characterisation highlights the specific complexity of the relationship between epistemicity and evidentiality in Italian, and presumts differences between Italian and other European languages ; International audience ; Italian has five epistemic forms that can be considered as grammatical, at least to an extent: the epistemic future, the indicative and the conditional forms of duty (MUST); the indicative and the conditional forms of power (CAN). the Italian plural in -a, the expression of the collective in Romanian, which have a French content in new, are examples of the expression of a whole, the spatial representation of the interior, the female gender. Our contribution is based on theoretical principles of psychomeccanic language. After showing the interdependence between gender, number, animation expatiality, we present the mental development of gender and numbers and the steps leading to the individualisation of the person in his or her space. We propose a parallel between the genesis of the genus and dinumero semiological categories, on the one hand, and the acquisition of intersubjectivity, on the other. We propose a correlation between the reduction of the internal plural (mg. masc. — pl. fém.), the quantitative content (it. —ata, FR. —ée) and the evolution of representation and the ongoing decline in Romance languages. ; International audience ; the Italian plural in -a, the expression of the collective in Romanian, which have a French content in new, are examples of the expression of a whole, the spatial representation of the interior, the female gender.
