During the Suez crisis, the New York Times carried several reports from GB & France which purported to show how the pop's of those countries backed their gov in their stand on the Nasser problem. In comparing these reports with survey results, it was found that they described a French unanimity which did not exist & implied that the British gov enjoyed a degree of support it did not have. AA.
