The publicist, Matthieu de Morgues, 1582-1670, here replies to pamphlets which asserted there was a conspiracy afoot in Europe to help the Huguenots. These pamphlets seemed to vest the Church with the right to control the temporal power of Kings. At this time Matthieu de Morgues was one of Richelieu's propoganists. Later in 1626, however, he quarrelled with Richelieu and was to become one of Richelieu's bitterest enemies. ; Electronic reproduction ; 32 p. ; 16 cm.

Together with Marsilius of Padua, William of Ockham has been of ten times considered as a thinker whose radicalism, present in its works on Logics, did not
exempt his political writings. The perspective that we have adopted in this
study does not ignore a wider interpretation of his political thinking, in the context
of the dispute related to the Franciscan poverty. Nevertheless, as we have
shown so far, the Franciscan poverty issue cannot be understood without a
brief introduction in the relationship between the canonists and the theologians
of the XIIIth and the XIVth centuries. The method that we have pursued starts with the presentation of the theological and canonical arguments on the issue
of poverty, up to a study focused on some of Ockham's texts such as An princeps,
the Compendium errorum papae Io annis XXII , the Breviloquium de principatu
tyrannico and the Octo quaestiones de potestate papae . Our approach takes into
consideration the fact that Ockham's perspective on the issue of consent must
be placed in the context of the pursuit of ecclesiological truth. As we have asserted
at the beginning of our investigation, one does not find in Ockham a precise
source for the ecclesiological truth. In his perspective, the decretals or even
the Councils of the Church, whose decisions are the expressions of general consent,
do not represent a guarantee for theological truth. The notion of consent,
fundamental for Ockham's political thinking, echoes deeply into the ecclesiological sphere, for example, with reference to the issue of the wows of the Franciscans
and specifically, to the poverty controversy. Because Ockham's texts
have mainly a theological significance, as Arthur P. Monahan justly noticed,
the theme of consent is designated most of ten by the expression of causa fidei
which involves the entire Christian community, and specifically those who
wish to imitate Christ most perfectly.

Schlüsselwörter: Religion, Glaube, Exodus, Befreiung, Ambivalenz ; Summary: Religion is energized on the one hand by the criticism of religion nourished by Freud's allegation of constriction and conservatism and, on the other hand, its very own experience of liberation, which is laid out in the Old Testament's Exodus adventure. This ambivalence in religion makes it an ongoing challenge and requires continuous reflection. The task of the pastoral counsellor is to highlight and strengthen religion's potential for liberation and love of life , as well as trust in one's own loveableness and sense of being wanted, as these are prerequisites of all possible emancipation. Keywords: Criticism of religion, emancipation, pastoral care, motivation, liberating potential ; La religion présente des aspects ambivalents, voire contradictoires.

The theologian, Beauxamis, 1524-1589, published his Remonstrance in 1575 (a previous version appeared in 1567) in opposition to the Catholic League. In this 1589 Declaration, Beauxamis states that the "politiques" have been aided by that work. Printed just before his death in 1589, Beauxamis states that his thesis, that no subject is allowed to take up arms against his "Prince", holds only for a Catholic King and the Catholic religion. Printed the 7th of June, 1589 this pamphlet appeared after Henry III had been excommunicated by Pope Sixtus V for the murder of the Guise brothers. ; Electronic reproduction; 33, [3] p. ; 17 cm.
