It eventually raised media sociological questions upon the professionalism of U.S. news media in relations to U.S. foreign policy, media democracy and humanistic question over the struggle between economic pragmatism and individual freedom, especially in international integration. ; The growing strategic and pragmatic relationship between the two nations is the foregrounding social-political context that leads to the journalistic framing of the visit as a media event, a win-win peaceful contest, and an celebrative and friendly welcoming performance. And that the American TV news media tend to pay more reverence towards the government during critical historic political moment, in this case the U.S. visit by Hu. The U.S news media, with TV news as the main focus in this study, tend to adopt the ritualistic media event script in framing the visit in an respectful, peaceful and optimistic manner. The landscape of Chinese copyright law has transformed dramatically since the publication of the first edition of this Guide in 2000. The Copyright Law was amended in 2010, followed by promulgation of a new set of regulations in 2013. China jointed a series of international treaties and agreements concerning copyright and IPR. Between 2014 and 2015, three new specialized courts were established by the national legislature and are now in full operation. This edition attempts to capture and reflect on all these changes. This book is a complete rewrite of the former edition. Several new chapters bring in more content, which are organized to make it easier for the reader to use the information. The tables of cases, statutes, and international agreements add a new way of accessing information readily. A directory of Chinese IP agencies and law firms can be helpful to the practitioner.--Publisher
The Lancet Countdown is an international collaboration established to provide an independent, global monitoring system dedicated to tracking the emerging health profile of the changing climate. The 2020 report presents 43 indicators across five sections: climate change impacts, exposures, and vulnerabilities; adaptation, planning, and resilience for health; mitigation actions and health co-benefits; economics and finance; and public and political engagement. This report represents the findings and consensus of the 35 leading academic institutions and UN agencies that make up The Lancet Countdown, and draws on the expertise of climate scientists, geographers, engineers, experts in energy, food, and transport, economists, social, and political scientists, data scientists, public health professionals, and doctors.
