Realization of the Multi-vector Principle in Belarusian Foreign Policy
= The article analyses one of the main principles of foreign policy of the Republic of Belarus — its a multivector character. The author notes that the concept of multi-directionality as the foreign policy platform of the republic was developed in the second half of the 1990s and became a logical result of the strengthening of national sovereignty, although at this time active development of relations with Russia was more characteristic of the foreign policy of Belarus. This article confi rms that at present the most signifi cant partners for Belarus are primarily the neighboring countries. According to the author, the European Union has come to play an ever more confi dent role of the economic partner of Belarus comparable to that of Russia. Accordingly, three scenarios of the future of Belarus are considered: the «Russian» one, «the EU scenario» and «the Belarusian» one. The article stresses that Belarus is not an object of rivalry between two political and economic centres; to a certain extent it can make its adjustments in Eastern European geopolitical scenarios.
