From the beginning of Brazilian service sector rebuilding process, the service organizations - which include universities and their academic libraries, seek to improve their processes, adopting efficient and effective tools, and thus obtain a competitive advantage. Libraries use to document all of the working instructions they carry out in their called "Service Manual", which when are available to everyone, becomes an important administrative tool. Currently (2008) each department of PUCRS Main Library has its own service manual, stored in different ways (paper archive, network drive) and produced in different ways (digital, print). This project aims to design an information system to improve the way are documented the services work instructions of PUCRS Main Library. The literature points out that it is possible to unify and systematize the methods of documentation of work instructions, through the adoption of an information system. The literature consulted covers topics such as Internet, development of Internet 2.0 systems, libraries intranet, work instructions, library services, system development methodologies and Unified Modeling Language(UML). Among the system development methodologies studied, the IBM's Rational Unified Process (RUP) was adopted, together with the UML notation. As research method the "Case Study Method" was adopted, which allowed the research of the phenomena in depth and in its real context. By applying in-depth interview techniques, direct observation and also documentary analysis, it was possible review and analyse the current Main Library situation. The documentation process of the work instructions was mapped, and its informational needs identified. Based on this analysis, a system modeling was created, validated through post-interaction with the each department coordinators, thus the objective proposed in the present study was met. (English)

The miscellaneous volume, entirely written in Portuguese language, includes 36 works among essays, poems, novels, drawings, paintings starting with the figure and the European values that have so strongly been defended by David Sassoli, to reflect on the future of Europe and new geopolitical scenarios that Europe is going through, after the death of the President of the European Parliament.

"The Yoruba in Brazil, Brazilians in Yorubaland focuses on multivalent manifestations of the Yoruba Atlantic. Unique in its examination of an African ethnic group that was implicated in the transatlantic slave trade and that subsequently made the diaspora home (or through other forms of migration returned to the continental "homeland"), this volume argues that despite traumatic encounter with modernity and resilience, the Yoruba Atlantic may be under erasure due to the exigencies of globalization. What we call Yoruba Atlantic today is indeed a hybridized identity. Through colonialism and slavery, historical realities are appropriately anchored in the quest for a Yoruba diaspora, and yet are compounded by the new, shifting migration patterns out of the Yorubaland in the search for greener pastures in a globalized world. The contributors assert the vitality and unity of this group while complicating those same essences through multiple crossroads of shifting historical, cultural, political, and spiritual agencies. Analyses the lives and livelihoods of the female cashew shellers in Mozambique's capital in the colonial era, during which the industry grew to be a major export, and relates how the women played a fundamental, but previously underappreciated, role in the colony's economy. JOINT RUNNER-UP FOR THE 2017 AIDOO-SNYDER BOOK PRIZE Between the late 1940s and independence in 1975, rural Mozambican women migrated to the capital, Lourenço Marques, to find employment in the cashew shelling industry.This book tells the labour and social history of what became Mozambique's most important late colonial era industry through the oral history and songs of three generations of the workforce. In the 1950s Jiva Jamal Tharani recruited a largely female labour force and inaugurated industrial cashew shelling in the Chamanculo neighbourhood. Seasonal cashew brews had long been an essential component of the region's household, gift and informal economies, but bythe 1970s cashew exports comprised the largest share of the colony's foreign exchange earnings. This book demonstrates that Mozambique's cashew economy depended fundamentally on women's work and should be understood as "whole cloth". Drawing on over 100 interviews, the rich narratives convey layered histories: the rural crises that triggered the flight of women, their lives as factory workers, widespread payment and wage fraud, the formation of innovative urban families, and the health costs that all African families paid for municipal neglect of their neighbourhoods.
