Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badania onomastycznego choronimu Italia i jego ekwiwalentu w języku polskim – Włochy. Autor wskazuje znaczenia onomastyczne i kulturowe oraz przywołuje hipotezy dotyczące choronimu z punktu widzenia synchronicznego i diachronicznego. Zestawia użycie wariantów Włochy oraz Italia w języku polskim z nawiązaniami kulturowymi do źródła obydwu form – w przypadku Italii sięgającego starożytności prełacińskiej, w przypadku Włoch i paronimu Wołochy – cywilizacji germańskiej i celtyckiej. W przypadku tych ostatnich zazwyczaj chodzi o nadanie wartości wyrażającej stereotypy dotyczące Włoch, np. poprzez treść sloganów reklamowych nawiązujących do obrazów konceptualnych kojarzonych z Włochami.
The question of responsibility of multinational corporations (MNC) for human rights abuses is still a hotly debated issue today. However, the core problem arises from the question whether MNC should be responsible for violations of human rights obligations because the necessity to regulate its actions not only on national, but also on international plane, is no longer challenged. Still, the problem remains how to effectively impose human rights obligations on companies. Should this be done only by national legislation, voluntary code of conducts, regulations of international organizations, international non-binding initiatives, or by binding obligations imposed by treaty? There have been various attempts to deal with the issue of the multinational corporations and human rights, on different levels. Various international or non-government organizations have addressed that issue. However, the most important and prominent initiatives were undertaken within the UN. An important UN initiative regarding business and Human Rights is the UN Global Compact, a voluntary framework for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. Biznesu i Praw Człowieka, nadeszła zmiana.
The identity of the ancient city centre of Naples has been historically founded on the co-existence of tangible and intangible values underpinning a compact fabric of centuries-old architectural and urban stratifications. Their lasting character and presence in public spaces contributes to the image of Naples as an authentic and multi-layered city, recognized as Historic Urban Landscape and listed as a World Heritage Site twenty-eight years later. At the same time, preservation of these values poses a challenge with regard to the change of roles in some public spaces due to material, economic and social pressure, particularly touristification. This cyclical process determined by physical transformations of the urban configuration and new functional characterization of "overtouristic" areas is especially affecting public spaces located along the main tourist routes in the ancient centre, for example the churchyard of Santa Chiara. The article aims to reflect on the prospects of these areas, examining the role played by touristification in the conservation of their identity as crucial in the management of historic urban preservation. This is supplemented with more general reflections on significant spaces such as churchyards and gardens, which are turned into public areas, shaping both cities and their citizens, with the aim to define the right balance between the reasons behind development and the conservation of heritage and authenticity.
In his Notes of a Journey through France and Italy (1824-26), William Hazlitt shows how Italy was perceived abroad at the beginning of the 19th century. Though still divided in reigns, its natural and artistic beauties seemed to anticipate its political unification. Hazlitt describes the merits and flaws of the cities he visited and of the people he met, making a keen and surprising portrait of 'Italy before Italy'. ; Nelle sue "Notes of a Journey through France and Italy" (1824-1826), William Hazlitt mostra come l'Italia sia stata percepita all'estero agli inizi del diciannovesimo secolo.

Historic centres globally are facing issues they have never encountered before, such as climate change and, for some, mass tourism. Over time, the relationship between nature and culture is one of conflict, with nature seen as a threat to the conservation of tangible heritage; at the same time, tourism has upset the reality of historic centres, compromising their fruition for both residents and tourists. In this context of great changes, the public space role of historic centres has been overturned. These public spaces, conceived as a set of elements that make up the urban scene and represent the identity of a community, have already changed significantly; on the one hand, they must respond to the needs of users who are mainly tourists and who arrive in larger numbers than originally envisaged, while on the other hand, they are experiencing the effects of climate change, with rising temperatures, heat islands, variations in the distribution and consistency of rainfall, and other site-specific issues. Historic centres and culture can contribute to sustainable development goals, and conservation plays an important role in creating projects in synergistic relationships with the natural environment. Following an overview of the themes and current literature on tourism in historic centres and on experiences with nature-based solutions applied to conservation, this paper reports two positive instances of conservation and the regeneration of public space in the UNESCO Historic Centre of Florence, which were aimed at responding to the critical issues of the area and to enhancing its historic urban landscape.
The changes taking place in the contemporary labour market were the factor that prompted our project. The employee's position on this market does not depend only on his specialist knowledge and professional qualifications. This is particularly important in a multicultural environment, in which even linguistic competences are losing their significance because – without the ability to adapt to new cultural conditions – they do not play a major role. Cultural diversity becomes a source of competitive advantage at the moment when a company adopts appropriate strategies and techniques, which is the task faced by, among others, modern managers. The aim of the project is to explore the role of cross-cultural competence as an important element of university education from the point of view of both: educational programmes and the labour market. It is now believed that cross-cultural competence, understood as an attitude towards cooperation with representatives of other cultures, is a very important element of university education in the process of preparing students to successfully function on the global labour market. The level of interpersonal skills of individual members of a multicultural team (especially the level of their cultural intelligence) which enables them to effectively cooperate with representatives of other cultures is one of the main elements of cross-cultural competence. On the basis of the results of the study, the theories of management science will be elaborated on, taking into account international realities and emphasising the importance of cross-cultural competence on the labour market. The results of the project will support the development of management science, especially in the field of intercultural management, by indicating how existing management theories are based on and benefit from practice, and how they are interpreted in management practice. Thanks to the study, both theoreticians and practitioners of management will be able to obtain more knowledge about cross-cultural competence. Dzięki przeprowadzanym badaniom teoretycy i praktycy zarządzania mogą zdobyć większy zakres wiedzy dotyczącej kompetencji międzykulturowych.
This article presents the main ideas of constitutional reform, governments in Italy over the last thirty years. "Blocked Italian democracy" was looking for ways of overcoming the legal framework. Conceived the idea of the great constitutional reform in the late seventies. There are three main ways of that reform: 1) the establishment of the Constituent Assembly, 2) creating a bicameral committee on constitutional reform, 3) by art.138 of the Constitution for its revision. The first solution only enjoyed the support of the right of the political scene. But failed to establish three committees for the bicameral constitutional reform: in the years 1983–1985 A. Bozziego Commission, in 1992–1994 the Commission C. De Mita and N. Iotti, in 1997, the Commission M. D'Alema. Presented by reform projects have failed due to lack of agreement between the main political forces. Thus, the third way of constitutional reform became Article 138 of the Constitution. However, in cases where an amendment has been approved only by an absolute majority of both houses of parliament, it can be put to the vote in a referendum on ratification. Twice held such a constitutional referendum, once on the center-left proposals 7 October 2001 year, the second time against the center-right approach June 25–26, 2006. The last referendum did not obtain public support. So it seems that the idea of the great constitutional reform has failed to deep divisions between the main political parties.
In the mid-fourteenth century, the authorities of Florence resolved to establish registers of all the real properties within the Florentine dominion. A project, unprecedented in the Florentine history, to record and compile an inventory of estates was conceived. The article considers the circumstances behind the project, primarily the socioeconomic and political factors that drove the authorities' decision. Details are discussed regarding the selection of officials responsible for the project and the work they did. Analysis of the project in question enables to address certain specific issues of late medieval perception and rationalisation of urban and off-urban space. ; p. 45-78 ; In the mid-fourteenth century, the authorities of Florence resolved to establish registers of all the real properties within the Florentine dominion. During the years that followed the end of the Great War, the Adriatic area found itself in a period of deep economic crisis due to the emptiness caused by the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The ancient Habsburg harbours, which had recently turned Italian, had lost their natural positions of Mitteleuropean economic outlets toward the Mediterranean due to the new political order of Central-Eastern Europe. Rome, then, attempted a series of economic manoeuvres aimed at improving Italian trade in the Julian harbours, first of all the port of Trieste, and at encouraging Italian entrepreneurial penetration in the Balkans. Resolved in a failure, the desire for commercial boost toward the oriental Adriatic shore coincided with the Dalmatian Irredentism and became a topic for claiming the 1941 military intervention across the Balkan peninsula. Italian geopoliticians, who had just developed the geopolitical discipline in Italy, made the Adriatic-Balkan area one of their most discussed topics. The fascist geopolitical project aimed at creating an economic aisle between the Adriatic and the Black Sea, in order to bypass the Turkish straits and become completion and outlet toward the Mediterranean of the Nazi Baltic-Mitteleuropean space in the north. Rome attempted the agreement with the other Danubian States, which subscribed the Tripartite Pact, in order to create a kind of economic cooperation area under the Italian lead. Therefore, the eastern Italian geopolitical border would have been traced farther from national limes. Rome would have projected his own interests as far as the Danubian right riverside, sharing with Berlin the southern part of that area consisting of territories historically comprehended (and contented) between German and Russian spheres of interest, which the Reich intended to reorganise after the alleged Soviet Union defeat. These Countries, framed by the Baltic, Mediterranean and Black See shores, found themselves entangled once more by geopolitical ties enforced by the interests of foreign Countries. However, these projects remained restricted to paper: the invasion of Yugoslavia turned into a failure and exposed Italy's military weakness; Rome proved to have no authority about the New Order organisation. Italy could dream up about its power only among magazines pages.

The economic crisis of 2008 affected the Italian state to a lesser extent than the other countries of southern Europe. Nonetheless, its effects have had a significant impact on the current process of reconstruction of the party scene, the socio-economic reforms being gradually implemented, and on the preparation of a draft amendment of the constitution, adopted by parliament in 2016, and on a constitutional referendum held on 4 December 2016. Italy, unlike Greece or Spain, did not have to seek external financial assistance. However, following a deterioration of its economic situation, introduction of economic management reforms at the European Union level, and a decline in its credit rating, Italy was forced to introduce crisis measures, necessary structural reforms, and other actions to improve its economic competitiveness. In 2012, an amendment of article 81 of Italy's constitution was adopted, whereby a budget stability law was introduced. In politics, insufficient actions to rectify the Italian economy resulted in the dismissal of the centre-right government of Silvio Berlusconi on 12 November 2011 which had been elected in the 2008 parliamentary elections, the disintegration of Berlusconi's the People of Freedom party and the appointment of a non-partisan government of technocrats led by Mario Monti. The effects of the economic crisis deepened the already existing dissatisfaction with the stagnant political elites, leading to the emergence of a group called the Five Star Movement as a manifestation of public disillusionment with bipolar political competition and the assumption of power by a new generation of politicians under the leadership of 39-year-old Matteo Renzi in February 2014. It is therefore initially assumed that the economic crisis in Italy after 2008 became an accelerator of political change, which, however, was accompanied by traditional socio-economic problems.
