Science fiction can be used as a pedagogical aid for the teaching, popularizing, critical reflection and promotion of science and technology. A teaching experience is described in which science fiction stories (novels, short stories, movies and short films) were used exclusively to impart a Science, Technology and Society Studies Course for undergraduate students of the Library Science program, in the Interamerican School of Library Science, Antioquia University, during the first semester of 2014. The course was structured as a reading and writing workshop, supplemented with thematical discussions and exercises. The results were satisfactory, showcasing the students creativity and critical thinking. Several recommendations and resources are presented for other teachers who wish to emulate or adapt the experience.

; With this text is attempted to elucidate several interpretation elements, which can extend the analysis spectrum about cultural, political and economic complex situations which define the conception of child and adolescents. These elements can clear up the social function that determine childhood and adolescence in each historical period of the Americas, because from this point we can tell about different social constructions on the duty of being of the child -and more contemporary of the adolescent- who has to respond to different ambits of the family, individual and social family which condition their existence in the world. Conceptions about childhood and adolescence have changed radically over the time, because of social, political or economic issues, which have created many spaces of identification about the boy, the girl and the adolescent where it is told about a duty of being to be able to exist. Childhood -and more recently, adolescence- have been conceived and identified in the occidental culture, as offenders of some global cultural guidelines that intend to homogenize the mental structures of the society, so they can respond to certain productive and consumption interests. Currently, boys, girls and adolescents are products of an overflow capitalist system that is reproduced through them, permeating any space of socialization and culture, relationships become merchantable and the existence is reduced to cost-benefit, where the motto of tell me what you own and I'll tell how much you worth can be applied. In this logic of voracious capitalism, that starts to determine new uses of civility as a tool for social control, in the way that it modulates the behavior of child and adolescents and, at the same allows internalizing the established rule as governing entity of life in society.
Cross-cultural relations between the Chilean and the English are becoming more and more important, especially since Chile is reinserting itself into the world of international business. Though the effect that cultural difference may have is a well documented topic, there is limited literature about the specific differences between Chileans and English, and how they view each other. The literature review shows the effect that history and natural conditions have had on the minds and behaviour of the Chileans, and allows us to understand their motives and thought patterns. Chilean society, as a result of the strong influence received from the 'Old Continent', is described as much closer to Europe than most of the other Latin American cultures. The interviews revealed some very interesting opinions of one group towards the other. The Chileans, naturally more concerned with relations and family, find the English rather cold and unsociable. They also mention that the English are political, rigid, not very hierarchical but show respect towards authority. For the Chileans, the English are focused and goal oriented, but they are not seen as people that try to impose; they like the decisions to be generated by consensus. They are trustworthy because they honour their word, but they are not loyal to their jobs. In the eyes of the English, Chilean people like to have face-to-face contact and give big importance to relationships and family issues. Despite being affable and easy going, the Chilean orientation towards family makes it difficult to penetrate their deepest circles. Chileans are also seen as hierarchical, with strong social differences and with a tendency towards authoritarianism. Chileans are described as people who are rather passive and who prefer to avoid conflicts. Although, when the conflict explodes, they might be quite passionate as well. They tend not to assume responsibility, but competition amongst their peers is forcing them to work longer hours and causing increasing levels of stress. In spite of all ...
"A deep desire dominates us: we still want to have cities where we can live as Aristotle says not only safe and healthy but also happy" Bruno Taut The concept of care related to the cities and built environment we live in, whether urban, rural or architectural ones, has been broadly investigated in different times and disciplines. Nowadays, it is a current topic driven by climate change and the public health events that have become mainstream in recent years. Important political events such as COP26 in Glasgow suggest to urgently act with novel solutions that are no longer linked to a single area of knowledge, but with collective and a systemic approach of interdependence. We need each other to transform human and space conflicts into opportunities for caring our planet. The current human and urban contested environment, where values, convictions and behaviors define a complex panorama, claims for new paradigms of living together.

--- The aim of this article is to show that the language is intimately linked with the social world and that to clarify such a relation depends on considering in the same plane of dependence the enunciates and the actions - what it leads to consider the language as a type of shared behavior. That means that the language not only serves to the needs of the social life as way of interunderstanding.
